Salt + Smoke reviews
15Came all the way from Brooklyn for the BBQ. I am extremely disappointed in my burnt to a crisp chicken skins. They are normally perfection.
The most enjoyable part of the experience was our waiter Louis. My bf and I loved his demeanor and service he was the coolest cat in the building and we loved it. He definitely gave a positive energy and an excellence high vibrational vibe for our dinner. Thanks Louis!
One of the best BBQ plates in St. Louis. I can eat a hundred of those ribs. Brisket and pulled pork was great. Creamed cream and fries were on point!
Perfectly adequate BBQ. Good, not great. A tad pricey for the amount you get but you get it FAST!
While being on vacation eating here felt like a home cooked meal. Huge bourbon bar with decent prices. Smaller inside restaurant but big outside seating area. The smoked cherry wings are the best. Ribs are decent Mac n cheese is good and chili is good fries are fries to me but came highly recommended. If you’re in the area definitely worth going to.
The food… man, the mac & cheese taste like cookies crumbled on top, the brisket you get 6 pieces & its ALOT of fatty pieces.i ordered the green bean & tomato salad, didnt expect it to be ice cold.i guess thats what a salad is. I noticed a man checking on tables, but never asked us how we were enjoying anything. He looked like the store manager or something, walked past us many times checking on surrounding tables.server was super polite & sweet, she was the best part! Oh & the fries were tasteless, wings were okay.cooked well but not much flavor in them.brisket wouldve been good had it been less fatty almost forgot, the fried pickles were sweet.wth
I ONLY get the Sweet Trash Ribs (sauced ribs).
These are THE BEST ribs I've ever eaten!
Also, the Beef Fries are Incredible! EVERY fry is consistently crispy on the outside & fluffy on the inside.just Perfect!
The house made Pickles come on the side.and are Amazing!
Some of the other items are hit & miss for me.but if you're looking for Great Ribs.this is the place!
This place had some great BBQ food. Ordered the two meet, Brisket and Pulled Chicken with Brisket Chili, and a Sweet Pepper Potato Salad. Should have ordered one to go. Also started with the burnt ends fried ravioli. All the food was amazing. Server was very nice. Food came out fast. Will visit again if i’m back this way for business.
We had a large party, brisket and ribs dry. The fried chicken skin very dark or so were the wings.
It's very crowded which is to be expected. This used to be my favorite BBQ spot in STL but their food quality has changed since they have expanded. The food was bad.just not unique. We tried their brisket ravioli, poutine, trashed ribs, and the 4 meat combo plate. The best thing we tried was the trashed ribs. They were truly bomb. The rest of the food was ok. The meat combo portions were small and sadly the meat was kinda dry. Still a good place to try just not as good of quality anymore. Service was fine.
This place has some great BBQ, but their fries are even better. I usually don't swoon over fries (they are usually mid or good), but these are outstanding. Food comes quickly and their sauces are very good.
Ribs were over cooked. Needs more salt less smoke. Location was nice. Poppers and fries were good.
Okay, let me start by saying that the atmosphere and the service were lovely. Nila was wonderful and took care of us very well. The food was unfortunately another story.: (
I ordered the brisket plate (burnt ends), and a very small portion was brought out. It was a bit disappointing, but whatever. As I took a bite, it became apparent that the meat was room temperature. I asked my husband if his (pulled pork) was also room temp, and it was. We were shocked and confused and generally grossed out. How long was it sitting before it was served?
With that being said, the sides were pretty good and all were the appropriate temperatures (beans, mac n cheese, and side caesar salad) ; however, the popover was advertised as bacon and cheddar, but it was quite bland.
Overall, I’m leaving with the hope that we don’t get food poisoning from our meal, and that’s not how anyone should feel leaving a restaurant.: (
The bbq is average. My husband enjoyed his food and my daughter’s was ok. My grandson didn’t care for the ribs and my brisket sandwich was all chunks of fat and no meat. I took it all off and ate bbq sauce and bun with a small piece of my daughter’s brisket. The sauces are good. The fried pickles were an interesting variety. The kids enjoyed the popovers. The restaurant has takeout so if you get seated up front expect to have a bunch of people hovering over your table while you try to eat. In addition there is a man that works there that speaks very loudly to the regular bar folks. We struggled to hear each other with the way his voice carried.
