Sam's Steakhouse, St. Louis MO

Myself and my husband had an opportunity to celebrate with a date night to Sam’s. Hands down the best experience we’ve had in STL at a steakhouse. I can’t say enough how much fun we had with the entire staff and ourselves. The food was exceptional. We both had the surf and turf. Pacing was on point. Both steaks were cooked to the correct temp. Our server was also our bartender, William. He made the experience one for the books. Thanks to his hospitality and personality we are hooked. Can’t wait for our next night at Sam’s!

Waiter kept interupting put conversation. I was on a first date and we where clearly enjoying our selfs but the wait staff would stop our conversation every couple minutes to ask if we needed something. I felt like they were rushing us out so they could seat someone else. I spent almost $200 and left a good tip but I will not be going back.

My guy made a reservation here for my birthday. Neither of us had eaten here.

The servers were really professional and polite. And the food, OMG delicious
I had the cowboy ribeye and loaded baked potato. He had the NYstrip.
When I say the steak were perfect, I mean it. It was cooked well, seasoned perfectly and delivered to the table warm.
My cowboy steak was so tasty I didn't need to put anything on it. And I'm one of those people that loves to ruin a steak with A1 sauce, lol.
And it was very nice portion size. Between that and the loaded baked potatoes, I only finished like half my meal. But yes, I left a little room for their chocolate mousse cake, which was rich and yummy.
Took leftovers home and my guy tried to take the rest of my cowboy ribeye. No sir!
Depending on your budget, it could be considered a bit pricey.

Overall, It was a great first experience at this restaurant!

For the price of the meal the food was subpar at best. Steak was overcooked and the fries my wife got were clearly not fresh and obviously frozen out of a bag and fried like you would expect from a place that charges half the price that Sam's does. The building was in disrepair as well with holes in the ceiling and the carpet peeling up in the middle of the floor as well as very dated decor for a place that charges such a premium. We received a complimentary dessert as it was our anniversary and we're told we could get a chocolate lava cake which came out frozen and basically inedible. Extremely disappointed by our visit and we will not be coming back.

Edit: The overcooked steak was brought to the waiters attention and did not seem to be a concern. We were sitting at the table in front of the fireplace under the neon sign. The carpet just in front of that table is peeling up and the ceiling right above the table has tape patching it. As far as the fries go we can chalk that up to a bad batch maybe but to say the cosmetic issues are not there is inaccurate.

The ribeye and prime rib was absolutely delicious! My husband said it was the best prime rib he's ever had.

Great local steakhouse. You're not going to find anything particularly inventive here, but you will have a good meal. The bar side is fun, and they have a great cocktail list. Definitely a "special occasion" price point, but you'll more than likely be going home with plenty of leftover. Wonderful service.

Food was fantastic, too many tables squashed together. When I made the reservation, I stated I was allergic to seafood. I was taken to a table next to One with 4 patrons with seafood.

My wife and I went here on our 11 year anniversary and it was awesome. The service was great and the food even better. Try the deviled eggs, AMAZING! We both got the Ribeye and baked potato. Excellent. Only thing is, 3 people tripped on a step close to the bar, could see someone getting hurt.

We will be back!

So Glad we chose this place for dinner away from the casino. Tina our server was awesome. Very knowledgeable and helpful. The food was fantastic! The filet literally melted in your mouth. Atmosphere was nice. We will definitely go back our next trip to St. Louis. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

This is the best locally owned non-chain Steakhouse in the St Louis area! Very cozy dining atmosphere. The staff is super friendly. And the food is always amazing! Highly recommended!

Back in the day, this place was great. The last few times we have been there, not so great salmon over cook
My bone end ribeye was Mw, and I asked from MR. They took it back, and 20 mins later I get it back when everyone else was done eating. I didn't get a new bake potato, so it was cold by then. I didn't even get an apology.

Very disappointed. Website says you don’t need reservations but we just went there for our anniversary and they told us we needed a reservation. First and last time we will try to go there.

Food is always good. Our waiter was great but was definitely handling to many tables at once.

Awesome steaks. I have had a few different cuts. All of them were too close to judge. Everything about this place is outstanding.

They are lying on their website when it says no reservations are necessary. Went there on Saturday at 530 and was told that they were fully booked. I explained that their website said that no reservations were needed. Eventhough we saw many empty tables we were refused. We ended going to Robertos and had a wonderful dinner. We will never go to Sam's again. There are many other better choices in St. Louis. I can't believe it their automated says no reservations necessary "They are lying! "

Went for our Anniversary they was supposed to open at 5 pm 5: 20 door still locked went to Texas Roadhouse instead Sam's Stackhouse SUCKS

We stopped for a dinner. We were very happy with our steaks. The baked potatoes wrapped in brown paper and huge. They must own a dairy farm. There was more butter on our table than I have ever seen at any restaurant. Good too.

Best steak restaurant in town! Service is always spectacular. I love their new outdoor seating!

I love Sam's! Found this place a couple years ago and have been several times since. The food is consistently good and I think the value is better than many of the well known steak places. I've had some outstanding service here. The formal dining space is nice and I love the decorations during the holidays, but the bar area is great for a little bit of a less formal atmosphere. I really like their split plate option. One little thing with our last reservation was that we selected "bar area" when we made the reservation but we were seated in the regular dining room. However, it's possible the bar area was full or something, not a big deal.

Ok. I had been really wanting to try this place since I was a kid driving by it.

It may have been SUPER nice a out 10 or so years ago.

Everything was pretty dated but ok.

The waiter we had was good. The support staff left quite a bit to be desired.

I give it a solid OK, would I return, no.

Especially for the price.

My steak was overcooked.

The shrimp was good. The sauce was good.

But again not worth the cost.

The staff tried 4-5 times to take our plates when me and my girlfriend were just talking. Really made us feel rushed and they were NOT busy, I'd understand if there was a line or people waiting for reservations but that wasn't the case.
