Shaw Nature Reserve reviews
17Beautiful, a lot of different trails to explore, and absolutely love the natural playground:)
Went here for a wedding. It was confusing because we needed to go inside to ask for a token so we can get past the gate, but other than that it was beautiful out there.
Great place to get out and walk. Gives you access to walk/hike to the Meramec River. Good hills, well cleared paths, an occasional deer or turkey sighting.all great stuff.
I never imagined the Nature Reserve was as nice as it is. Definitely worth going for a day picnic with a walk.
As it was my first time there, I really didn't know the size of the trails. It was very nice to walk in nature. With all of the plants to enjoy, there were lots of bunnies, butterflies, and birds. The staff were exceptional in their knowledge and helpfulness.
Wear bug spray. Got bite up badly walking around here. It was pretty bit reminded me a lot of local parks that are free
It was a wonderful place to walk. The trails were maintained. Plants were lush green and blooming. Wildlife visible. Do check for tics.
My brother and I attended photography workshops here. The place is outstanding! There are tons of trails, plenty of shaded areas, and so much to discover!
Shaw Nature Reserve is a great place to spend a day hiking around. There's an area for kids to play, a couple of lakes, a Meramec River lookout and much more. I like spending time taking photos of the native plants around the Boscom House on the property. As part of the Missouri Botanical Gardens group along with the Sophia Sachs Butterfly House if you're a member it's free to enter. Just stop at the visitor center for a gate token first and have fun.
Shaw Nature Reserve has become one of my favorite spots to visit at least once or twice a year. With its breathtaking scenic hiking trails, I'm always amazed by the abundance of native plants and trees that surround me. Walking down to the Meramec River offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. If you're looking for a place to unwind and reconnect with nature, Shaw Nature Reserve is definitely worth checking out.
Very terrible Nice scenery but bugs and spiders in cabins once there was a RACCOON in my cabin! I recommend going there for a hike but not to stay
We've been meaning to visit for years and finally did today. We enjoyed several trails and will plan to return soon. It will be fun to try new trails and see the progression of the seasons.
Beautiful! Lots of fun stuff to play on and great spot for some quiet introspection. I'm going to have to come back sometime and check out the trails.
I went behind the scenes & attended the Native Plant School they have out in the greenhouses. Very nice staff, intelligent, thrifty, informative even for a Master Gardener. I definitely recommend signing up if you're interested in gardening.
This is wonderful place to spend the day. So much to see and learn. The hiking is the best, so many beautiful trails. The staff at Shaw Nature are very friendly and helpful.
Amazing private nature preserve near the St. Louis area, that is open to the general public for hiking and wildlife viewing. They have done a terrific job of restoring and recreating many native Missouri landscapes/ecosystems in one accessible area. One of the best places for photographing MO birds. Many well kept trails of varying lengths for any skill level, some well-done natural, rustic structures and installations, many areas with beautiful overlooks, as well as some historical buildings and aspects to the property. Well worth the small entry fee.
