For older dogs left unnoticed in large shelters, Shep's Place is truly a sanctuary. Instead of crowded, understaffed kennels, Shep's offers a homey vibe with ample dog beds and couches, a play yard, and plenty of attention to go around. Each dog receives the medical care they need - which tends to be quite a lot for the senior dog population - and often more specialized care than a general shelter can offer or afford. There always seems to be someone available and willing to step in when one of the residents is in need, and decisions are clearly made in the dogs' best interests. The board and volunteers are friendly and welcoming, and the mission of giving these deserving dogs a loving home is one anyone can stand behind.
