Shogun Japanese Steakhouse Of South County, St. Louis MO

I want to say thank you to The employees were alot of help when they called 911 for my girlfriend because she couldn't breathe and she had an allergic reaction to mushrooms and the food was good.

Dinner AND a show? ! Whatta great time my friend & I had! Our whole table was so fun! Josh was our chef & at first, I was like, why is this white dude cooking my Japanese food? But I digress! I've been to this establishment many times (each enjoyable) but today was the best time out of them all! Josh ‍ was hilarious & entertaining! The jokes & laughs just kept coming! He cooked my veggies, rice, steak & shrimp just right! Plus, he was pretty easy on the eyes, too! Everything was so enjoyable! Quality food. Good portions. Super yummy. Eli (super funny, as well), our waiter, kept everything running smoothly at our table. The other couple (not part of our party) plan to come every Thursday at 4pm just to request Josh. They had never been to hibachi & I think this might have been one of the greatest experiences that they've ever had as well. Cheers to cheering me up, Josh, Eli & Shogun's! I know who I'll be requesting as my chef next time! Thanks for making my day!

The lady who sat us was extremely impatient and a little bit rude. We had to wait a while just to place our drink order.and was waiting even longer to place our food order. Then another while waiting t before the cook came out. The rice was uncooked so it was hard the cook was cross contaminating between the chicken steak and shrimp and also lobster he was also pushing the trash into the little hole with the same utensil that he was using to cook the meat with on several occasions I wanted to make a fuss but I was there as a guest to the birthday girl so I really tried to look pass it. Then right after all food was cook to go boxes was offered and the checks when we were literally smack dab in the middle of eating. If it wasn’t for me getting sick I probably wouldn’t had made this review but please be aware!

Our chef did not care to be there. He did 2 "tricks" as I watched the others make their entire table laugh and showed interaction. We don't like the grill but my 6 yr old demanded it. She didn't get exactly what she wanted but still had a good time.

The food was good, as usual. But we love coming for a few good laughs when we eat!

Dad and mom took me to eat here this is better than Chinese Dad don't like to sit next to people he don't know so we sat in regular sitting but hey. I do recommend the area where the guy cooks for tons of people it looks fun to do flames high and flippin shrimp in people's mouths what a blast mom had peach flavored suke dad and bro had the hot stuff got tipsy ️ on it the food is so much to eat you can walk out bloated if not careful so good too I mean delish a must go to try place highly recommend to everyone

We were all seated and they took our order. Then they left us sitting there for an hour and kept randomly coming back saying one second, one second.within that hour. So our entire table finally got up and left. As we were walking out one of the workers laughed at us.
I felt horrible for the sweet family that was sitting with us. They were trying to celebrate one of their birthdays and instead we all ended up leaving because of the poor service. At this point it’s 10pm and other nice restaurants are closed.
I can say I am not the person to complain. I’m pretty happy with anything and have never left a restaurant before tonight.
This experience was so bad.

If I could give it zero stars I would. My boyfriend and I went there at 8 and didn’t get seating for over 30 minutes no host in sight. After we were seated we waited another 30 minutes for a waitress to finally take our drink and appetizer order. I got two orders of sushi. It took an hour after that for the chef to come out and at that point my stomach was hurting i was in the bathroom for 20 minutes with horrible stomach pain. We got our main course and I couldn’t even eat it with the stomach pain I was having. My boyfriend noticed is meat not tasting fresh and was out of date. We worked in restaurants our whole life so we can tell if something is freezer burnt, out of date, or fresh. We get our bill and leave and as we we’re walking out I threw up in the parking lot and multiple times at home. My boyfriends stomach was hurting him pretty bad too. Come to find out I had gotten food poisoning. Worst experience in my life!

We had the chicken teriyaki. The food lacked flavor and the vegetables were not cooked thoroughly. The plum wine was tasty.

After we were seated and placed our orders, we waited about an 1hr 1/2 for the chef to get to our table. It was to the point that we almost asked for a bill for the appetizers, sald and soup. Our waitress was short with us and not friendly or very polite. The chef was dull. He prepared our meal and performed some tricks with the eggs and spatula but didn't say a word. Dinner at a Japanese Steakhouse should be an interactive experience; this was not! The food was good though. My rating is based off of the entire experience. I will not be going back!

Went with a big group, the chef was fun and engaging, but the food was just meh.i felt very sick the next day after eating the food.also took about an hour for us to get a chef even though we had a reservation.it wasnt the worst experience so i will give it 3 stars because i will probably be back.and their sushi is pretty good.

Still good food but the price has gone up again, In fact I got one menu and my mom got one with prices about 2~$ more on many items and guess when menu they honored. Also do not trust the tip% they put on the receipt for you, its higher that the true %

It was my girlfriend's 40th birthday and we had an awesome experience! The chef was hilarious and told jokes the whole time. The food was great!

It was amazing the grandkids loved it and I loved it myself the food was great the Chef very entertaining just an amazing time

This restaurant is completely disgusting. I don’t understand why they have so many great reviews. Compared to Oishi it’s absolutely vile tasting. Inside the restaurant is dirty, and run down. Do not recommend….

My family and I have been dining here for years and it never disappoints. We have done the Hibachi as well as dining in for a sushi feast. Highly recommend for a birthday celebration. The Hibachi is perfect for family/ children entertainment and interaction.

Plenty of food. Our cook wasn't very friendly or personally, never said a word. (Very unusual from previous visits). Kinda put a damper on our visit. 5 adults, 3 kids. Server took drink orders but only served us water, never came back to check on us! Been here before and it was never this bad.

Amazing I don't know what words to use to describe how great the food was. The Chef was just as good at his job as I described the food. Definitely going back

Good food. Not an impressive show for lunch. Chef had a hard time dividing vegetables and rice evenly so my husband was last and hardly received any. Steak was so tender and delicious though!

Went here with some friends for the teppanyaki experience. Our group of 5 was seated with another group of 2 and it worked great. Our table got along well, which was great, but that would've been out of the restaurant's control anyway.

Our chef was a delight. Not only was he skilled at all the cooking techniques and tricks you're used to at teppanyaki, but he was extremely personable and charismatic. If all of their chefs are this good, Shogun will be hard to beat.

Finally, my main dish was the samurai steak, and it was cooked to perfection. So delicious. I had an excellent experience start to finish.

Very good service and food. I enjoyed the hibachi food and seeing the food cooked in front of me. We got the the chicken which was good, but nothing that was exceptionally memorable.
