Southwest Diner reviews
16 Always great food and friendly staff. It's the best southwest food in town. Go for brunch, and get the grits on fire, or a smothered breakfast burrito, Christmas style! It you're a bloody Mary person, you should have one here. I have never had anything here that failed to impress me.
Right now, they're doing takeout out walk up service with patio seating. Not sure what the winter plan is.
AMAZING must know Place! We grabbed a quick brunch before our flight today and were so happy to find this spot run by a wonderful team. The food was incredibly yummy and the atmosphere in their outdoor patio was so chill and welcoming. It’s been there for years but I think it’s our new go to spot for when we are visiting family in the Lou!
Not sure why this place is so highly rated. Got the carne adovada. The pork and potatoes relied on the sauce to provide any flavor but unfortunately it was bland. The pork was also fairly dry. Glad it wasn't a cold morning since we were forced to sit outside. Food came quickly though but that might be because it wasn't fresh.
We wait an hour to be served our brown bag of food. The food tasted as if it had been made days in advance and then placed in a warming oven for hours. The quality of their food has declined tremendously.
Went for breakfast and I can honestly say this place is really good; I highly recommend that you give it a try.
Absolutely delicious Tex mex food and the outside is dog friendly! I Highly recommend. The pico de Gallo was so flavorful as were the salsas! The best I've had in St. Louis so far.
The food
The sausage and biscuits were the best I've ever had!
The tamale breakfast plate was flavorful and tasty!
Also, hubby liked his beer mosa!
Food is good but be prepared for lines on weekends.learn to order ahead. Decent outside eating area, just wish they had shade on all tables.
Very comfortable outdoor dining experience for the Covid concerned. Wonderful burger (I recommend the double), perfect Bloody Mary and an easy ordering system. We felt very safe and we will be back more often.
Got the something with bacon in the name omelette with hash browns, my wife got biscuits and gravy, and oj. Was at the window pickup, no indoors due to covid. All food was amazing, definitely recommend. Currently patio seating.
Ordered before they opened and it was ready when I arrived at the quoted time. Amazing coffee. Would go back just for that!
Got the breakfast burrito with queso and chorizo. It might be spicy, I thought to myself, but be adventurous! It was in fact too spicy to thoroughly enjoy, though that's more on my tolerance than their culinary skills.
My only wish is that they'd throw a few hot pepper icons next to certain dishes for weaklings such as myself.
Had the breakfast burrito covered in sausage gravy. Burrito flavor was ok. The jalepenos were not spaced evenly which caused some pretty intense bites. The gravy was sparse which was fine as it was tasteless and cold.
Great food! My husband and I got the burrito. His was with enchilada sauce and mine with queso. So good. We got the boys the pancakes. They didn't like the cornmeal cakes but they're used to buttermilk ones which isn't the restaurant's fault. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The Aztec hot chocolate was delicious as well as their fresh oj.
Such a delicious place for all meals. I went for breakfast and the chorizo was so good as was the sopapilla. Their queso is good and I'm excited to try other menu items
It was fine. I was expecting more substance from their pancakes; apart from the texture and mouthfeel, there were just regular pancakes. My main beef is that the online menu has the option for added real maple syrup for a dollar more. Well, I was real mad when we opened our take out to find real corn syrup instead. All in all, probably wouldn’t go back, but it was food for the morning.
What a shame! A restaurant that was famous for its indoor dining, has been Reduced to a carry out dine out witch is probably costly to them money with less business. Especially since all other restaurants around them have learned to adjust to the Pandemic, and keep their indoor dining open! Thats the whole idea of going out to eat, to enjoy the atmosphere!
