Being a former employee (18years). The reviews on here of 5 stars are from employees of SurreyPlace. Sadly the facility has several non licensed/permit additions. Sadly they ran something that was once a thriving well kept facility into the ground. When Gary Olson stepped down as CEO of St. Lukes the care for this part of the hospital operations went down the toilet.

I have had 2 friends who had the extreme misfortune of being sent to this hole for rehab after
being hospitalized.
One for cancer, one for heart failure.
Completely lacking in empathy or care of any kind.
It's clearly a moneygrab, and they basically dump patients who are in no way healthy enough to be released after giving them ZERO care.
The rooms are horrible.
I would never recommend this place for the long or the short term.

Do not let your loved ones go here. The nursing staff is rude and demeaning to their patients. They don't have empathy. The overall staff is unreliable at best and struggles with follow through as well as following protocol.

My mother's stay at here was an absolute nightmare. From the very beginning, it was evident this place was a mess. The level of care she received was shockingly poor, leading to a significant decline in her health which put her back into the hospital. The staff seemed disinterested and neglectful, paying little attention to individual needs. Their incompetence and lack of empathy resulted in my mother experiencing unnecessary pain and suffering.

What made matters worse was the staff's mistreatment. They were rude, condescending, and verbally and physically abusive, leaving my mother feeling humiliated and degraded. My mother was afraid to ask for anything for fear of the abuse. Such behavior has no place in a healthcare setting. I addressed the director, nurse supervisors and the social worker all without any good resolution.

Furthermore, the facility itself was poorly staffed and didn't bother to take the time to change or clean my mom posing a significant risk of infections. My mother's experience here was a distressing ordeal that I would never want anyone else to go through.

In conclusion, I strongly advise against choosing Surrey for rehabilitation needs. The neglect, incompetence, and mistreatment my mother endured were beyond comprehension. Seek alternatives where compassionate care and personalized treatment are given the priority they deserve. No one should suffer as my mother did.

If I could give this place zero stars I would.

My father spent his last days at Surrey place, and I don't think I'll ever stop regretting the decision to let them care for him, as they ignored life threatening complications until it was too late. Their lack of attention directly contributed to my dad's death and the fact that he was gone too soon.

Surrey Place was responsible for temporarily caring for my dad, because he was waiting for back surgery and couldn't walk due to pain. A few days before his surgery was scheduled, my dad was complaining of more pain than usual and I could see that one of his legs appeared swollen. We alerted staff, concerned that he might have a blood clot. They assured us that he was fine and attributed his complaints of pain to his mild dementia. No tests were administered to rule out blood clot.

48 hours after the initial complaint, I demanded that the he be transferred back to the hospital where my sweet father was diagnosed with a blood clot from his HIP TO ANKLE. A piece of the clot broke off and ruptured an aneurysm in his brain. We did surgery at Barnes to try to repair his aneurysm, but he never woke up from surgery.

I don't know if I'll ever let go of the pain of knowing that I knew something was wrong and I couldn't get the staff at Surrey Place to pay attention. I loved my dad so much. Their neglect ended his life way too soon.

Shame on them for their unkindness and neglect.

One of the worst places you could send your loved one to. My grandma spent a week and a half here before she ended up back in the hospital and then ended up passing. Not only was the staff rude, but the care that was provided was absolutely awful. There were multiple times when we (the family) had to help her get back into bed, go to the bathroom, etc.simply because staff did not want to. One nurse even rolled her eyes when a guy down the hall fell. Communication here is also not a thing.

Just wanted to say what a wonderful job one of your nurses is doing. She works in the Dakota Bluffs wing. Her name is LaTonya and she is amazing. To be able to work with this patient who can be difficult at times. She is caring and a wonderful person.
So glad that you have staff like her working there.

My 90 year old Mother was in the skilled nursing facility at Surrey Place. She had a fall at home and was admitted to SP due to a broken bone in her leg. She was there for approximately 7 1/2 weeks. Mom received fabulous care by every person who helped her recover! All staff members, including but not limited to, front desk personnel, kitchen/food delivery, maintenance, entertainment, crafts, doctors, nurses, OT, PT, supervisor, cleaning crew, shuttle driver, doggy visits were OUTSTANDING! AAA+ THANKS and HUGS to ALL of you! Mom is back home and doing GREAT! TD:)
