Steak 'n Shake, Springfield MO

Horrible experience. I ordered online went to restaurant at promised pick up time waited another 15 minutes. Something was wrong with the fryers so for 10 of those 15 minutes I heard a fryer timer blare and noone was able to shut it down. My large onion ring was a joke 4 orings one burnt. My large fry and medium fry was very small when I pulled it out of the bag not even 1/2 an order on either. Half of one of my husband's hamburger patty was not even there and there was a hair in our food. I spoke with Christina the GM on the following day as directed to do on the phone by the manager on duty that evening. I brought the food back to the store with the receipt attached to the bag. My mistake! Christina said they would issue a refund to my bank card and to let her know if I do not receive it within 7 days. It was 8 days today now I am playing the run around game with them. They never issued a refund and now they want me to do all the extra work contacting my bank to dispute charges. This place is so unorganized and no one is on the same page. You would think they would want to make things right but they act as if I am at fault for their mistakes. I would not recommend this location. Very unprofessional!

A few days ago I went to this location, waited in line at the drive through for FORTY minutes, finally made it to the window and was waiting for my food. Someone came out to my van and told me their card reader was down and they could only take cash. After waiting for over half an hour! And I didn't even get to order what I wanted, a peppermint milkshake, he said they don't have those here. I told him it was listed on the menu board at the drive through. Why is it listed on the menu if they don't serve them? A complete waste of time and I left with no dinner!

Good fast food; best french fries and chicken tenders I've ever eaten; cutest, friendliest girls serving it up, too; plus, I live less than a half mile away; i keep warning the girls that I'll be back, but they never get out of the country, they must like me.

12/1/2021. Editing review from 4 yrs ago (when they were still decent). I heard steak and shake was in trouble and now they are making sure they go under! I ordered two of their "under $4" combos and when they told me $14.24 I figured it was a mistake. NOPE They pretty much gutted their under $4 meals and charge all as ala carte I guess! I went there specifically for their great prices. When I expected the total to be about $9.50, I was not happy to pay another 50%. MORE for the same thing that cost $10 just a couple weeks ago! THIS IS DEFINITELY MY LAST VISIT.

Clean and busy. Portion sizes (fries) seem to have gone down instead of prices going up. I am fine with that, it's one or the other anymore. Staff friendly as always.

The service manager was amazing! The food was as good as always. Biglari has taken away so much from this classic American establishment. I miss prime steakburgers. They were awesome

If i could give - stars i would this store is absolutely horrible so many times iv stopped here and every time they mess up today stoped and gotmilk shakes and it's nothing but ice cream busted cup on one no toppings in the others one that was half way full this store needs to shape up this was my last straw here

Only 1 waitress was cleaning tables & waiting on customers. The rest just stood around complaining loudly about their shifts. Only saving grace, the cooks.food was hot & good.

Foods always great if you get the chick at the drive thru she's a major you know what but it's worth getting past the warden for Cajun fries. Lol

This location should honestly just be shut down. I went through the drive thru. Sat at the speaker for a few minutes waiting for someone to greet me. Nothing. I say hello a few times. Nothing. I ask if anyone is even there then the lady in the drive thru snapped at me about how they are short staffed. Sorry that I have no way or knowing that since I'm not inside and NO ONE HAS GREETED ME. Waited through the line, got my food, drove off. Then I went to grab my burger to eat on the ride home and it looked like someone smashed it. I turned around on the highway and started calling the location for over 5 minutes straight hoping I can get someone on the phone so they will remake it for me as I'm driving. No answer. When I arrived there was no one in the drive thru and two customers in the lobby. So, they were obviously not too busy to answer my 5 phone calls. By the time I got back to the restaurant, I was so frustrated with my experience that I just got a refund. This store should not be open if this is how it's operating. If your staff are just snapping at anyone that pulls up to the speaker wanting to order, you either have a bad staff or the store is being run poorly.

Food was great. The waitress got my bill wrong. If I wouldn't have been paying attention, I would have been overcharged.

Do not eat here if you have anywhere to be… EXTREMELY slow. 40 minutes for a single patty burger and fries. No acknowledgment whatsoever of the ridiculous wait.

Fries always cold. Chicken not fresh.twice on my drive from tx to pa. So very inconsistent with their horrible standards. Wont be back

Undercooked. Hard bun. Stale fries. Hell hardly and fries. 30mins in the drive thru with 4 cars total. Definitely a disappointment.

I ordered a jalapeño crunch steak burger and asked to make it a combo as I have many times. When I looked at the receipt I found I was charged $1.99 for the drink and $1.99 for the fries, which is fine, no big deal. I asked the employee in the window if it’s usually $1.99 for both cause it’s a combo and he replied that he didn’t know and that he needed to ask a manager. The manager was kind and gave me my two dollars back and then after almost rudely suggested that maybe I didn’t order it right, when I’ve come here many times to order the same thing and have had no problems. I was really put off with the lack of customer service skills and the audacity to blame the customer.

My meal was horribly made. I have had this meal several time Ga & NC, but this one made here at this location was tragically made. The Burger was WAY OVER SEASONED! I had to whip down my burger several times to the point 1/3 way through I tossed the bread away an 2/3 way through I tossed the meat bc it had to much sauce from the buttery garlic they used on bread. The fries I ordered look like a kids fry and the shake was half the cup. I was running behind for an appointment so I didn’t have time to go back an talk with manager. I will call tomorrow. An Honestly I think the manager (guy making burgers with belly touching ever burger top bun) was the one to make my burger bc when I pulled out my phone to record his belly touching buns a girl came an stood between my view an the were joking for a minute then same girl gave me my milkshake before the customers ahead of me. The guy making burgers then squeeze my burger an threw it in the bag. Please see pictures I’m not joking. I will never be back.

3 months ago I would have gave this 1 star but they seem to have a new crew who seem to have it together more so them the old staff. Seems to be improving.

Last time I had Steak and shake was years ago. It's great when you can go back with high expectations and they meet them.

The picture will speak for it self. I told the manager that I could post it on Google so she could see because the employee denied making it this way. Then I got accused of being rude because of that. Then said she would replace the sandwich at a later time. Well I wasn't being rude but now it is definitely making it to Google. I don't want a free sandwich I want the sandwich to look the same as the pictures on the menu. Not hard!
