Steinert's Greenhouse & Gardens reviews
13I would recommend walking thru the greenhouses. The fragrance and beauty of the variety of plants is something you will want to experience for yourself.
Nice people, great plants! I called ahead because I live 60 miles away. They were very helpful on the phone and also after I arrived. The plants had very good root systems.
I called to ask after lilac bushes, and like another reviewer, was told to drive there to see about them myself despite that it’s a 20 minute drive one way for me. I drove out to see the lilacs, and they were all infected with what looked like alternaria fungus, as were all the other shrubs in the area. Most of the lilacs also suffered from obvious mineral deficiencies and were definitely not worth $20 each. I went inside to see if they were aware of the fungal infections and if they had been treating the plants with anything and got as far as “I noticed some brown spots on the lilacs. ” when the employee I was talking to said “It’s temporary from the rain, ” and proceeded to literally ignore my existence. They were in no way busy; they were just being rude. So instead of buying 10 lilacs for a hedge, I bought nothing and will never buy anything from this greenhouse. I’m giving one star for the quality of plants and quality of service.
I called to inquire if they had specific flower plant I was looking for, the lady on the phone was so very extremely rude and short with me. She said that "we're busy people here and If you want to know what kind we have then come see for yourself". I kinda couldn't believe she was being serious,
I told her I don't live close enough to just "drive over and see" that's why I was calling first. She then pretty much told me to shove it. Lol what a terrible way to run a business, i had a very simple and specific question but she's apparently too good to walk over and see if they have what i need so I'll be going elsewhere with my business.
Great place literally was going to buy somewhere else until they were rude. Stopped by here and was helped and got everything I wanted and at a better price.
The poinsettias are beautiful. If you haven't seen a green house full poinsettias you need to visit. And they have beautiful pottery that would make nice Christmas gifts. Also jams and jellies and pickles
They are a great place to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. I look forward to them opening every spring and have for many years.
Excellent selection of well grown plants with friendly knowable service. Great place for gardners to shop.
They have won me as a future customer. The time they spent with me and the genuine care, was invaluable.
I can't say that I've ever purchased anything from Steinert's because I haven't been able to complete a transaction with being made to feel like an incompetent customer with too many questions. There selection is large, their pricing average to poor, but their service can only be described as rude and discouraging.
Not sure what the previous reviewer's problem was, but this greenhouse has been in business since 1912, and there is a reason for it. They have a fabulous collection and raise their own stock.
Amazing people who raise and sell beautiful healthy plants! Never to busy to check out or chat about your latest project.
I love this place! And I have never had any but the most cheerful and helpful service and advice by anyone here! I find the previous disgruntled customers' posts hard to believe. Steibert's plants are top notch and the staff definitely know their stuff!
