Sunset Drive In Theatre reviews
21What an awesome experience we had! Saw a double feature with our family, we drove an hour to be there. Very well run and really good food at the snack bar. The place was busy, but we got our food in a timely manner and it was hot and very good THANK YOU for a very pleasant experience. Definitely will be back
Super fun place! Lots of playground equipment to keep the kids occupied while they wait. Plenty of concessions, and honestly a great price! $25 to get the whole family in!? With a double feature option! Great deal
Always nice to be able to do something with the family and it not be over priced. Nice that places like this are still around
Great place to go, probably the best drive in around for miles. If you have a family, love vintage like experiences, like movies, or have never experienced and of the above I implore you too pay this place a visit.
Very bad experience on July 31 2021. All we wanted was a fun family filled night watching movies instead the old security guard, pretty much accused my boyfriend of drinking alcohol while at the drive in. My boyfriend did have alcohol a hour and half before leaving for the movies. It was consumed in the privacy of our own home. My boyfriend was doing no drinking at the drive in. The old security guard followed him around, kept looking at him throughout the movies. Then on the 2nd movie, the security guard wanted to search the vehicle for alcohol. My boyfriend and his family left uncomfortable. We just decided to leave the drive in, not even 30 minutes into Twister. This was our 3rd time there, spending about 70 dollars in admission to the drive in movie. Not counting the total of food and drinks spent. We will be speaking with the owners of the drive in movie. This type of behavior of the old security guard was uncalled for. We won't be back for a long time bc we don't want to be harassed for anything.
Caution: the sound (from the perspective of the far right side) was coming from too many locations. It echoed enough that we had a tough time hearing well.
Otherwise, it was a great place with great prices. You can have lots of fun.
Remember that they don't take credit cards.
Great experience. Enjoyable staff. Yeah. The concessions were slow but unfortunately, thats just what you get with young folks and their first jobs. I'm just glad to see young people working. My only suggestion would be to have a policy against people running their cars the entire time with the AC on. Its very loud and takes away from the movie. Maybe have a policy that if you want to run your car and AC, park in the back row. Just a suggestion. I hope you stay open for many years to come. Thank you for the nostalgic experience.
Always an awesome experience coming here! If you've never been, you're missing out! I always bring a gas grill and cook burgers or brats but they do have a concession stand with snacks/food and drinks. Staff is friendly and the security guard that walks around making sure people park right, is awesome!
Great! So much fun and now they have added online reservations. We are so very happy to pay a few dollars more, instead of waiting in line for hours. Wish they would update their speakers or turn them off. They sound horrible
Always plays the best shows and has yummy concessions! The employees were all very polite.
Love the movies, love the clean well cared for lawn, and the staff is great. Just wish they would not post that they are serving things if they aren't going to serve it.
Worst drive in experience ever. I ordered the 3rd burger of the evening from the snack bar. 30 min b4 showtime. It took over 45 min to get my burger. 45 min. 30 min in they attempted to sway me back to my car with a promise they would deliver my burger to my car. However they could not provide a receipt bc the machine was broken. I elected to stay in the blistering hot snack bar due to I simply could not trust i would receive it judging from how well their operation seemed to be running. So i became soaked in sweat and missed the first 15 mins of a movie i had been dying to see. The audio was poor and delayed. The picture lacked contrast and was hard to follow during the fast paced scences. I was completely frustrated. I was actually relieved when it began to rain halfway thru the movie and i had an excuse to leave. This drive in begs the community to support their business but then disrespects the movie goers by being less than prepared in their snack bar and providing a subpar experience for movies that deserve a much better way to be dispalyed. Worse movie experience ever. I wont be caught dead at the Sunset Drive In again!
A great place to hang with the family or friends to watch movies. I like it there. But I do get a kick out of the elderly gentleman who does security there. The SWAT team uniform he wore last time I was there was great.
The movie experience was fun. It said they opened at 6: 00 but they did not start letting cars in till closer to 7: 00 p.m. Had we know this ahead of time we would have got our dinner at a fast food place and sat and ate it while we were waiting in line for 1.5 hours! But we wanted corn dogs, only to wait in line for 45 minutes to be told they were out of corn dogs! The food and the service was terrible this the 3 stars would have given it them two but the movie was great.
This was my first time coming to the drive in! We were worried we wouldn't get a spot because we waited in line pretty far down the road but once traffic started moving they were able to fit a lot of people. The only thing was we were a little confused on the section to park in because the sign said one thing and we were told another. And since they park everyone so tightly, we weren't able to see the screen at all for the first movie. We waited until people left before the start of the second movie to repark and get a better view. We still had a great time and we will definitely be back in the future!
We love coming out to this drive in! The prices on tickets and concessions are just right and they have a little bit of everything to suit your tastes. They recently upgraded the sound system and we didn't even feel the need to tune in on the radio because it sounded so good. If you're looking for a fun date idea this is the place to be and the drive from Springfield is so worth it!
The experience was great but the directing security gaurd was way beyond rude and harsh. It kind of took me back because we were attending a Christian concert. Very unnecessary.
Other than having to stand in the concessions line through the whole first movie and them running out of most food by the time I got there it was cool maybe be a little more prepared for the crowds and have extra hands on deck
An amazing place for family or date night. Only down fall is the concession stand. Prepare for a very long wait. Otherwise its great
Great lil venue although for a sold out night they should have had both concessions open. Instead of just the one. Gates did open late. Make sure you get there at least 1hr to 1.5 hr early to avoid the long wait line to get in.
