The table was sticky.

The shrimp rolls were super oily - though they did come out right away.

The pad Kee mao was also super oily and took at least 45 mins to come out. It's not busy maybe 6-8 tables. I'm pretty sure they gave my food to the wrong table and had to make it again when I asked.

Looking around - there are tables where one person has their food and others are waiting for theirs. For a WHILE. I overheard one table who's appetizer came out well after their entree.

My take is that the kitchen doesn't know what the hell it's doing. There are many better options for Thai in the area. I won't be back here.

The staff was nice but that isn't enough to make up for the poor execution.

This was our first time visiting this restaurant they were just opening for the day as we were greeted at the door, we were seated and we choose to sit in the window seats that were form fitted leather and very comfortable we then was offered our menu’s, the menu was easy to read with plenty of items to choose from we ordered our food and some of the food came out really fast. The appetizers were a great size and was delicious. I tasted everything that we ordered and I will be back.

I absolutely love this place I’m not sure what else to say but this is the only Thai food place that I like. They make everything good every single time. No matter what you get. The staff are great and the service is great. Absolutely 100% recommend this to anybody and everybody.

Ordered carryout from Thai Gai Yang Cafe and the food was okay, but nothing special. The spice was really mild even though I asked for the spiciest they offered. It ended up taking about 15 minutes longer than expected. They also didn't have the drinks I ordered and failed to tell me until after my food was ready and I was about to pay.

This is my own experience which prolly isn’t representative of what the quality usually is here, but the food here is not amazing. I got the pad khao tai and it was more congee than fried rice. It also tore up my innards afterwards.

All I’m trying to say is that I’d be cautious but not close minded about going here

We went because I was wanting curry but to not spend a whole ton like the restaurants nearby. At first walking in was a little sketchy and there were many there. Why husband had the dumpling soup which was pretty good not amazing ya know. Though we also got crab rangoons, chicken satay, and gang dang curry all of which were so tasty. I can never find good curry but this was amazing, the chicken satay had peanut sauce and it was magnificent, and lastly the crab rangoons were very good as well. Good prices and phenomenal food. May look sketch but trust me it’s worth it.

I have some leftover from there and just found a dead fly. Even though, the taste is good, this shows me that they are not clean. Also, the ceiling of their women’s restroom has a big hole due to a leaky pipe. Order at your own risk.

Ordered food now over an hour ago via takeout, was told it would take 20 mins. I arrived after 40 and still had to wait 20 minutes. Nothing was offered in terms of customer service. I will never come back as there are too many other Thai places in the area with better service and respect for time

The Pad Kee Mao never fails to satisfy my hunger and craving for Thai food Honestly one of the best Thai places in St. Louis! Spicy enough!
Also the Tom kah soup is super delicious!

Service is super great too

I ordered chicken satay to go with other menus and the chicken was not cooked properly. It was cooked like a tuna tatami, only cooked outside.

My husband and I always try to find a good Thai place when traveling. After reading reviews on several in the area, we settled on Thai Gai Yang - but with hesitancy because we were the only people there. But don't let that deter you! It was soooooo good. They did a ton of to-go orders while we were there (covid + freezing temps) and several other people came in after us. My husband had the Gang Dang curry and I had Thai peanut noodles. Both were excellent. My one warning - even though there is no pepper indicator on all menu items, expect a tiny bit of eat with every dish. Its Thai afterall.

This place is sooooo delicious. They let you order ahead, and they accommodated my special food requests. I'll be back the next time I want Thai!

New review February 2022:
Something has happened to the quality, and its not good.
Maybe new ownership? This shop had the BEST tom yung soup, now it is not as good even as done by a poor Thai restaurant. The soup was (hard to believe, from Thai food) almost bland. The pork dumplings were not worth half of the cost. Try one of the nearby Thai restaurants first.

Thai Gai Yang has been my favored restaurant (of any) in STL, but now, no more, until they get back to the high quality they used to posses.

Prior review (2018 or so) :
Several Thai restaurants in the area, and more spread out in the county, but this one has the best food of all. The Tom Yum soup is superior to ALL the others, and their multitude of other foods are also very good.
