The Blue Heron Restaurant at The Landing, Van Buren MO

Beautiful restaurant, I had the Four by four, which is a 4 oz.filet and 4 grilled shrimp. The only thing I can say is the charbroil was a little heavy.

The steak was very good but you can get the same quality steak at Longhorn but for about $30 dollars less than the Blue Heron Restaurant.

I would go back because there is no other place to eat a good steak in Van Buren

This restaurant was very impressive. Elegant but modest setting. The staff was awesome, especially our server and bartender. Thanks for the great food and warm welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely return. Mike and Penny Steadman

The food was okay, not extraordinary as the price would suggest. The service was not at all up to the price you pay. Although when the song "Sweet Caroline" came on, it was fun to hear the entire restaurant patrons join in! Lots of then.

The portion size of the sister chicken was terribly small. The menu read “2 chicken breasts. ” It came out looking like a Batam chicken breast cut in half.

The sad thing is that the meal was very expensive at $24.

I’m headed to McDonald’s so I can be full.

Ordered the crab stuffed filet and it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. So tender, juicy and flavorful. Sides were all delicious also. Kids had the baby-cini Alfredo. We were all very satisfied.

Garlic mashed potatoes were instant, not a real garlic mashed. They were very soupy. Salmon was very dry and portion sizes were that of a children's meal. My daughter ordered grilled shrimp and they came out cold. Presentation was awful, stopped on the plate. Very disgusting

Our food was Great! Steak soTender, honestly it was so good steak sauce was not required! Wonderful hamburger meat as well! Definitely will be back.

Ordered grilled chicken nachos for the main dish. Asked if tomatoes and scallions were ok and said yes. There were 4 small pieces of tomato, no scallions, drenched in cold cheeses and very salty chips. Got guacamole on the side…not fresh and paid $1 for 2tablespoons. Would not order again. Stacked seating makes it awkward but the Waitress was delightful!

Their freshwater salad with chicken sounded good with spinach and romaine lettuce. Unfortunately iceberg lettuce without spinach was used and grilled chicken was very cold. Wife ordered nachos with chicken and she struggled to find the chicken.

I wanted to wait and think about our dining experience last night before posting to make sure l was not just being cranky.
First the good, our waitress Leanna was exceptional, a real asset to the company.
My husband's steak was very good as was my daughter's scampi. The root wad and dip was fine.
I unfortunately took a leap of faith and ordered the salmon.
So l was not overly surprised when it was over done.
That said l lived in the Pacific NW where salmon and Dungeness crab are king and l trained under 2 different chefs there so l admit l do know seafood pretty well.
Also when l ordered green beans l was expecting a whole bean cooked to crisp tender instead l received a bowl of green beans cooked to virtual mush and my potatoes were cold.
I sent the potatoes back but did not see any point in bringing up the salmon and obviously there was no help for the green beans.
Also for the prices we were surprised there was no bread offered.
My last complaint was the FALSE ADVERTISING on the salad!
It is on the menu. INCLUDING the black board in the lobby that salad comes with the meal. Well ONLY if you pay an ADDITIONAL $3.50!
Honestly it was not the money but the principal of it!
Salad is either INCLUDED with the meal or it is NOT! Also this is not brought up until you ask what dressings they have and what is in the salad.
My husband and l are not high maintenance and slow to complain but this irritated us both. My husband took pictures of the menu and blackboard but l cannot seem to upload to this review.
Honestly l always prefer to compliment rather than criticize and l know how things can go in a kitchen but l felt the need to share our dining experience.
I mean l apologized for sending my potatoes back for Pete's sake.
So for $115 other than the steak, scampi and Leanna we had an extremely mediocre meal.
Will not go out of our way to dine here again.
So l recommend the steak and the scampi but nothing else.

Service was Excellent, all the staff was pleasant. Had great conversations with them about the area and the restaurant. The food was outstanding, big portions and very quick service. Will definitely be coming back and bringing friends the next time!

Food is absolutely phenomenal.
My fiance got the blu Burger, and I got their chicken with wine sauce and LET ME TELL YOU IT WAS SOOOO GOOD!
Fine dining at its best.
The staff is friendly, and have knowledge of their menu items.
The owners/managers are great and attentive. Super friendly and adds a great presence to the atmosphere.
We reserved a big table of almost 20 people and we all got our food ordered, it came out hot, fresh and correct!
And it didn't take a long time for all of our tables to get their food and we were all very satisfied.
I highly HIGHLY recommended this place.
The prices are, very acceptable for the quality of food. It feels like a high end restaurant but without the large bill that comes with them.
We will go here again.
And if you go camping or floating anywhere in Van Buren and are looking for a special night out this should be your go to place!
