The Boss reviews
19I don't like this coaster. I just felt beat up after riding it. I like speed, but this is a rattle trap.
This is the worst ride in the park! It bangs you around so much that I had to see a doctor afterwards!
I have ridden numerous wooden roller coasters through the decades and this is one of the best. Two factors make this an amazing wooden coaster. First, the track was intentionally designed to follow the landscape. This makes for a wonderful experience. Second, two of the drops are partially hidden by the density of the track infrastructure; it makes for a first time ride surprise that will be memorable. Having said all that, there is one disappointment about the attraction. The ending originally had a 540 degree helix. But years ago 360 degrees of it was removed; I'm unsure as to why.
The Boss is great for what it is. The maintenance staff has done a good job of smoothing it out since the end of last season. It can bang you around pretty hard in the back so hold on coming out of some of the drops. Of course it was better before they took out the double helix and would be infinitely better if they let RMC convert it but that might be wishful thinking for the next 10 years. Overall it is worth trying out. Front row will give you a slightly less rough experience.
Personally my favorite coaster ive ever been on the roughness dosnt kill the ride my only flaw about this ride is the end bump if you go to six flags stl this is a must ride.
Very good CCI woodie with some good airtime, a great sense of speed, and pulls some laterals. However it is quite a rough ride. If you don't like rough woodies this is not the ride for you
It was really fun when I rode it in 2016 but I went back in 2020 and idk what the h3ll happened to this ride!
This would be the best coaster in the park if not for the roughness. It gave both me and my partner symptoms of whiplash (mild and severe respectively) after riding it twice. The speed is insane and it's definitely thrilling. It's probably the best rollercoaster I've ever been on. However, know that you'll probably have some significant neck pain after you get home if you choose to ride.
It was so fun my grandma was probably gonna die on the ride but fun. It is so fun at night because you can't tell when it will drop you down.
Its a really good wood coaster (my favorite in the park) but it is pretty rough.i just want to see the park take better care of the ride so it would run smoother and maybe have it not slow you down as much on the mid course break run.that really kills the speed and i would love to experience that last double up at full speed, airtime would be incredible! No need for RMC in my opinion. RMC is for replacing problem coasters but this ride does not have to be a problem!
Rode it when I was 12. Didn't do much other than slam my face into the restraints. I'm sure if I rode it now it wouldn't be so bad but it vibrates so hard it would also probably screw my back.
Believe it or not! If you ride this in the morning when the park opens its definitely way smoother than when you ride it in the afternoon, because of the seats get really hot in the afternoon in the summer. So if you go to the park when it first opens in the summer go on the boss FIRST! The Boss used to be one of the longest wooden in North America until the painful 570 degree turn was removed in 2018.
It's big, fast, intense, and yes a little rough. It's a great ride though, it has good length and great laterals. The airtime is amazing in the back, but the front is smoother. Highly recommend it for the intensity alone. Honestly though, the roughness was funny, not painful. So have an open mind and remember its a roller coaster, just have a bit of fun. The park's other woodie is good, but a bit tamer. However if you cannot stand a little intensity then I'd go on the general public magnet Gerstlauer Spinning coaster in the middle of the park.
Impressive but that's it. It is a bit like the woodie Anaconda in France. They look huge and impressive but offer little sensations except unbearable vibrations.
Definitely the best ride in the park! Packed with airtime hills and tight turns, and the drops are huge for a wooden roller coaster!
To everyone whining about it being rough, it's a wooden coaster. All wooden coasters are rough. Also, it's slower now than it used to be because they took out the double helix at the end which was my favorite part. As for the lines, you all either didn't come here years ago when all the lines were 2+ hours or you're too young. You are so impatient. I remember standing in line on multiple occasions for over 2 hours to ride things like Scooby Doo, Batman, Mr. Freeze, Evel Knievel, and yes, the Boss.
Honestly, I hurt like hell to ride. It shook me really hard constantly, to the point of a headache the rest of the day, and part of today.
Love the BOSS! It is the BOSS! Don't listen to the cowardice from people who call it "rough". I rode this ride when i was 6 and cried. I ride it all the time now and love it! The difference? Don't rest your back on the car. It's not hard. If you ride it smartly, it's roughness is equivalent to the Screaming Eagle which is an adored classic. High speeds, banked turns, and most fun at night!
Underrated wooden coaster. Love how it is built with the terrain and it feels much faster then the average traditional wooden coaster. Highly recommend!
