Independent Living. Beautiful place for mom.
Update: 3/2023 Mom has been here for 5 years. Unfortunately, longevity has highlighted some issues with the management company. Firstly, they can't seem to attract experienced professionals. There are ongoing issues with dining room (quality of food and service) and management in general. Getting reliable information is challenging and staffing is sparse and not really helpful to families or residents as it seems that their main objective is to rent more units rather than to retain satisfied residents. This is a very expensive choice for the lack of professional staffing in the IL facility, lacking in overall management.
On the plus side, the facility is extremely nice and the apartments are beautiful.
Changing my initial review from 5 stars to 2.

The nurse aids do a HORRIBLE job on showering the patients, one lady didn't bother to wash the back, bottom feet or hands of the patient. They need MORE TRAINING. Nice facility but the staff sucks.

My Uncle Tom couldn’t stop raving about the care and personality of the staff here! That Henry is quite the charmer. Would definitely recommend this facility to anyone seeking elderly hospitality!

I cannot say enough about Mary Lawrence and her team at Memory Care. Mary and her staff worked as a team in giving Mom the best care possible from the heart. It showed in Mom’s interactions with Mary and the employees when she smiled at them even though she couldn’t express herself-her eyes and smile showed them. Boulevard staff worked with St. Croix hospice, coordinating her care, especially the last long week of Mom’s life. In the end, all we want is the highest level of care and concern for our loved one, especially when we can’t be with them 24/7. Boulevard Memory Care lovingly took care of Mom with genuine love of staff shown to her. I am forever grateful to Mary Lawrence and her staff for taking such awesome care of Mom. Thank you.

I cannot express how impressed my family and I were with the care my mother received at the end of her life. Mary Lawrence is simply the BEST. We cannot thank you and your staff enough for the love and care showed to not only my mom, but our family as well. It felt like you were part of our family. Mary is so engaged with the patients and the staff. They work together as a team and provide great care and are passionate about what they do. It was obvious that Mom felt the same and that she had strong bonds with some of the staff as many of them came to Mom's bedside in her final days/hours and said their goodbyes. I am so grateful that we moved Mom to The Boulevard. Good care is hard to find.

The memory care facility is NOT as advertised. The activities calendar is only for show. The residents do NOT get daily activities and the care team is untrained and ill prepared for handling dementia patients. I had to remove my wife as she was not getting even minimal care. Anyone considering memory or dementia care needs to do research and read reviews, but most importantly drop in and observe actual care of residents before committing their loved ones to this facility.

My mother lived in The Boulevard St Charles for two years. My family was very unhappy with the care she received. Most of the staff are unfriendly, and lack compassion. The activities are very inconsistent and the food is fair at best.
Our biggest complaint is the Director of this community, he is unethical. Don’t just take my word for this. Before letting your loved one live here call The Voyce advocacy organization. We found out too late how many complaints they received on The Boulevard and the Director.

I am so happy to be part of this team. It is really refreshing to work with people who truly care about what they do and how they care for their residents!

My grandmother currently lives in the independent living apartments of the Boulevard. She no longer felt comfortable living in a home by herself, and wanted to live where she had safety and security if she were to fall ill, or need immediate assistance. During the tour of the facility, the family and my grandmother were assured that each resident would have a duress button that would reach the nursing station on the assisted living side. They would then come to the room immediately to do a wellness check. We were also informed that each room has motion sensors to detect movement in the room. We were briefed that if there is no movement in the rooms, a wellness check would be done to make sure she was ok.

My grandmother pushed her duress button, with no response at all. Not even a phone call from he nurse station asking if she was ok or asking if immediate medical attention was needed.nothing. When family called the nurses station to ask why no one responded to the duress call, we were told all they can do is take her vitals. She was rushed to the hospital by a family member and is currently still there.

As far as the motion sensors.on multiple occasions she has been sick bedridden with no movement in her apartment, with no wellness calls/checks. Currently.she has been out of her apartment for almost 24 hours at this point.and if i was a betting person. I would assume the boulevard doesn't even know she is out of the room in the hospital. No emergency contacts she has listed have been called asking if something is wrong due to her not being there.

If you are looking for a place to provide peace of mind of your loved one when you can't be there to check on them daily, the Boulevard is not it.

I won't even waste my time going into the numerous times where the Boulevard has ran out of food and all that was offered was what they had left. On multiple occasions, my grandmother would only be offered vegetables for her meal because they ran out of the protein and starch being served that evening. I could possibly see running out of food closer to the ending of dinner service, but she eats at 5pm. The residents in that facility deserve MUCH better, especially for how much money they are paying to reside there. I would not recommend the Boulevard.

All I can say is how much I enjoyed working for The Boulevard St. Charles! From the moment I went into training and started my first day I was shown nothing but kindness from all staff and residents. You can really feel the love and support that each staff member gives each other everyday! If you are considering working or moving in to The Boulevard please do! The staff members really do care about each and every one of the residents needs and wants and will do everything in there power to help them. I have seen it first hand! I will miss all of my coworkers and wish them the best!
