The Meadows at Lake Saint Louis reviews
13The place seems deserted there was absolutely no one there of course it was on a Tuesday around noon it's very nice I felt safe and with the area growing as fast as it is I think it will succeed but right now it's like a deserted desert
Not too bad of a area too many apartments and buildings 'now' its ridiculous I think yall lost a customer for your shopes
This is my third update to this review. Here we go! The Meadows is no longer the buzzing shopping destination that I once loved and drove 30 miles to visit, passing up every other mall in St. Louis. However, it is worth mentioning that The Meadows is home, among others, to Von Maur, BC’s Kitchen, and Clementine’s Creamery, all of which are WELL worth a trip to The Meadows, but there’s even more than that.
Recently, The Meadows received quite the facelift in the form of all new landscaping, which truly breathed new life into this place. It’s starting to feel like a comeback. If I close my eyes, I can practically smell the warm chocolate chip cookies from Max & Erma’s. Do you remember that restaurant? It was SO good…what a long time ago that was! I have such fond memories of The Meadows from long ago, and I’m loving the new memories I’m making there now. I wish nothing but the best for this place because it is truly a gem!
AND: every Saturday, from spring through fall, the Lake Saint Louis Farmers Market is held here from 8 a.m. To 12 p.m. The farmers market is absolutely worth planning a half day trip for if you don’t live nearby. Get there early, grab a delicious coffee, chai, latte, or whichever hot or iced drink that tickles your fancy from one of several FANTASTIC coffee stops, then get yourself a delicious waffle loaded up with fruit, whipped cream, and everyone’s favorite chocolatey spread, or grab the fluffiest, softest, yummiest cachito you’ll ever have from the loveliest Venezuelan bakery on Earth (don’t sleep on the ones with the cream cheese inside, ya hear me?), or maybe cookies in the morning are your vibe, crepes? Mmmmmm! Whatever kicks your morning off right, get there and grab it for breakfast before you kick off your farmers market tour. Prepare your wallet because this is not JUST a farmers market, it is an outdoor pop up shopping mall packed with small businesses that offer a wide range of goods. Yes, you can get lots of foods to take home, your fresh meats (SO much fresh meat and so many options!), your veggies, and even some fruits, but you can also shop with businesses that sell jewelry, clothing, toys, home decor, skincare, home fragrance, soaps, pet supplies, fresh flowers (and I mean gorgeous bouquets and arrangements), potted plants, and the list goes on and on! And don’t forget lunch before you go because lunch will be just as yummy as breakfast was (just don’t wait too long because everyone usually sells out!). The tamales there are the best in the world, just ask anyone, but if that’s not your thing (it wasn’t mine before I tried them, just saying), there’s pizza, kabobs, burritos, and if you’re not ready for a meal, you can snack on a snow cone, some fresh pork rinds (seasoned with Red Hot Riplets if you like!), freshly spun cotton candy, or whatever else you can find! I didn’t even come close to covering everything you can find at the market, so just come on over and check it out for yourself. You can support many local small businesses in one trip, then go home with a happy tummy and goods that you feel good about buying. If I owned a small business, you bet I’d be set up here every Saturday. Twice per year, children are invited to participate with their own small businesses, an event that my friend’s child participated in recently and found to be very rewarding. It was fun to attend, and so great for the kids! That was in May, and the next is in October.
Bottom line: things have changed for sure at The Meadows, and it’s usually very quiet around here, but you’ll find that what’s here is worth visiting any day of the week, though Saturday is THE day to visit for sure. You can cruise the market until close, then check out the resident stores at The Meadows, and grab a bite at one of the restaurants before you head out if the market vendors sold out while you spent too much time feasting your eyes on all the available goods…I speak from experience haha! Come visit! You won’t regret it!
Great place to shop/walk around, farmers market has multiple veggies, beef and local honey
Went to Farmers Market on Saturday morning. Always lots of things to see. You must see the tamale man. They are soooooo good.
We enjoyed it very much, lots of interesting vendors, everyone is very friendly and our pets were allowed, it was our first visit.but, I'm sure NOT our last.
Farmers Market is wonderful. Lots of interesting crafts and great food and produce. Everyone is helpful and very friendly. Highly recommend.
The Meadows is nice and clean, but a lot of the anchor stores are gone. This location, like a lot of malls, seems to be struggling with a lot of stores closed. The space also serves as a farmers market on the weekends, which we enjoy.
I had no idea this place had gone downhill. I'm not sure if it was the pandemic or not, but I drove here over the weekend with shopping in mind. Nothing was there except one store.
Not a lot of stores that I'm interested in and only one restaurant, but I have a few favorites there that keep me going back.
It’s grown a lot over the years with a lot of variety in shops less food choices but there is plenty in the area if you can’t find something at the meadows itself
There are some stores and some restaurants there that we like. There are vacancies, like most shopping malls, but there are many apartments or condos being built nearby, so I hope that draws in more businesses.
