I would exercise caution coming to this store. Based on other reviews I’ve read, it seems many other people were “greeted” by the same woman who treated my brothers very poorly. There are a lot of signs with a bunch of “rules” which is frankly a little ridiculous for a store with ugly hats. Sorry. There’s one giant sign blocking the entrance and a small sign saying “children must be accompanied by an adult/parent in the store” or something to that effect in the window. My brothers went on ahead of me (I’m in my mid-20s so I definitely look like an adult) while I finished reading the big sign and this woman was quite rude to my brothers telling them to “go back and read the sign” when I was RIGHT THERE reading the sign. She saw me and knew I was with them but was still impolite to them and pretty much kicked them out. All they did was walk in and she acted like they were going to stomp on every hat and cause a ruckus. If I were the owner, I would maybe evaluate employees’ temperaments more before hiring

Worker was incredibly rude to two girls just this evening who came in. One picked a hat up by its tag to compare the color to another hat and bent over. The woman came over and yelled at her and her friend to leave, accusing her of trying it on. Girl stood her ground and was great but the woman rolled her eyes and refused to listen. Totally uncalled for and rude. And the girl had a water bottle, completely sealed, and the woman still yelled at her for having a drink. I was so disheartened by how she treated them that I had to leave. Woman needs a new job.

Judgemental, rude, personally think they don't like helping Gen Z or Millennials. Or they don't know how to interact with us. Maybe you should learn. Stop hustling people as soon as they come in, such a turn off

I think people know how to read signs before they stop in your store especially during the holidays when every store has signs that says no food or drink. We didn't even have food or drink with us. We bought food in a sealed package for a Christmas gift that was in a brown paper bag.

I wanted to buy a hat as soon as I walked in. However you lost my business the second you treated my husband and I like babies and kicked us out and asked us to read your stupid sign. Two disposable incomes with no kids haha. Learn to run your business better because that was ridiculous. Might I suggest approaching people who are actually snacking and drinking and kindly asking them to step out?

How much business have you lost just like mine because they don't want to deal with your attitude?

Terrible service. Unfriendly and rude. I brought friends from out of town, because it's the ONLY hat store in KC with any selection, and he left the store after 2 minutes. No one in my party will ever go back.

My father and I have bought many hats from this store in the past and have enjoyed the sales and service from the owner manager and great selection.

Today I dropped by while being in Crown Center and was surprised by the terrible woman who I encountered working at the store. She was not only unhelpful but also went out of her way to be rude and disrespectful. She made it clear that she didn't want me in the store or my business. Her level of mean and rudeness was wholly shocking for a business establishment.

I was surprised and disappointed by this encounter since I have been such a fan of the place in the past.

After reading other reviews on here, I see that I am not alone in this experience. It seems that the husband is fantastic to work with and conversely his wife is mean as a witch. Good riddance TMP

Y’all, some liars. All these negative reviews made me think I was in for it. I took a KN-95 mask, gloves, and a plastic bag, thinking I wasn’t allowed to touch anything. The two there could not have been kinder. The gentleman (Michael) there had me try on various different hats and found the perfect one for me. I saw some they didn’t have in my size, but I was assured that some will be ordered in a larger size for me. I ended up leaving with this beautiful cobalt gray hat that matches my outfit. I’m not sure what brought up all these negative reviews, but from my experience, I plan on going back.

What a nice selection, it is too bad the woman "helping" customers had only distain for me as a customer. It must be hard to sell works of art that she wouldn't help me purchase.

Lady behind the desk was very rude. Walked in with my son and I was going to buy an 8 panel hat. When my son picked up a hat she immediately told him he can’t try it on. He responded with an “Ok, sorry” to which she responded with, “Didn’t you read the sign outside? ” If you’re going to be condescending maybe you shouldn’t work in retail. I’ll shop elsewhere.

Terrible service. Went in to look at a hat with my son and the gentleman working was very rude. Would not recommend coming here unless you want to have a bad experience. Do not bring your kids in this store as they will ruin your day. If I could give 0 stars I would.

I entered the store, asked a question and was immediately set back with the unfriendliness. They seem to be against tourists, but since they can't tell who is who, they are rude to anyone. Clearly this is an ongoing issue, I wonder how they're able to stay in business.

The lady that works here seems to actively discourage sales. I was ready to spend over $100 on a fedora and due to the rotten woman working there I'd rather give my money to Jeff Bezos, so sad. When I asked why she thought it's okay to be so rude and condescending she said "my brother owns the store, like it or leave". I will never be back and will always refer people to Michael's fine clothing for men on Main Street. No wonder there wasn't anyone in the store shopping and most items are 50% off. I'd leave negative 10 stars if I could.

Went in to find a hat, the lady behind the counter was very rude and rolled her eyes at me. I will not support a rude business.

Visited the store this week. I run a suit store and wanted to expand opportunities to build looks by incorporating hats. The older African American woman was with a customer when I walked in. Not to interrupt, I looked around until she was free. What I was greeted with was an incredibly rude greeting, a warning not to touch anything, and an eye roll that was examining the lower part of her brain. I just said, “really” and walked out.
Not worth the trip in at all.

I've been buying hats from the gentleman that used to run the place (and their hat shop in Westport) since I was 19. The last couple of times I stopped in and bought hats he was still running the place but today I stopped by and his sister is in charge. I was surprised and dissapointed by how rude she was to myself and other people in the store. If you so much as touch a hat without asking she talks to you like a child. I've been doing business with the Missing Piece for 28 years and it looks like those days are over.

Walked in with a drink in my hand and was immediately told no outside food or and to leave it on the counter if I wanted to look at hats. Male worker asked my husband what size hat he was, when my husband told him what size he wore the man said, “I don’t have hats that size” and literally turned his back on us. He obviously didn’t want to service us. Customer service here is nonexistent. We turned around and left. What a joke of a store.
