Museum with amazing collections of toys and miniatures. The toy collections document the cultural beliefs and technology advancements from 18th century to present. There some stories collected from kids point of view that are cute and amazing. The miniature was my fav write part. There are miniatures of Louis XV’s study room at Versailles palace.

We came for the gingerbread event. But was kinda 50/50 for the cost of the event it was kinda underwhelming. And they didn't give you nearly enough time. We were still decorating your houses, and we were told it's time to get up cause rhe next people were ready to come in. Everyone also got random amounts of icing. So we had to share cause there wasn't any extra. It was fun but, we wouldn't do it again. On the other hand the miniature exhibit was amazing!

A perfect place for family outing! They have a lot of interactive things for children and historical things for adults to keep themselves entertained.

The miniatures section was much more interesting than the toys section. The intricacies and details of the miniatures were fascinating to look at. The quantity of vintage toys was quite impressive, but there isn't really much "there" other than to look at them. That being said, the Bridging the Gender Divide exhibit was great. Plan on spending about 90 minutes.

Paid for the gingerbread house making event, which was $25 and included the museum admission. (Admission to just the museum itself is $8 for an adult)
I went to see Gingerbread Lane. There is an incredible amount of talent and detail in the display. I am so glad that the Toy and Miniature Museum is supporting hometown artists and giving them a space to share their passion and creativity. For a 45 minute workshop, it was put together very well and was alot of fun. Since bringing my gingerbread house home, my entire house smells so good when you walk in. I heard the artist say that his recipe could be found on his website, and we plan to use it in the future!
After our workshop, we explored the museum. I will admit that I haven't been there in over a decade. I was amazed at the updated interior and displays. My group of nine ranged in age from 2-46 and everyone had fun and was thoroughly engaged. It was easy to explore together or separately, and is easily handicap accessible!
I feel that this museum is a hidden gem in our community and I look forward to checking out other events in the future!

We allotted an hour for this museum and it wasn't enough time. Very extensive collection of doll houses and exquisite miniatures, along with large, historical collections of dolls and toys. Very well presented and so interesting!

Never heard of this place until we were on a trip through the plains- it's a huge, well organized and maintained collection.

We loved our visit and are excited to return! Robust collection and an unexpectedly large museum. We caught the tail end of a tea party with a group of children and they all looked joyous.

This place was amazing! Spent a couple hours there looking at all the miniatures! Not really a place for small children.

I love tiny/mini stuff so I was excited to check this out! I couldn't believe how big of a collection was here! The attention to detail is phenomenal and I definitely recommend coming to see the museum! The toy section was a lot of fun for my husband and I to go through and talk about what toys we had/wanted when we were kids!

We really enjoyed the museum. It's not far from the plaza and on the UMKC campus. I visited when I was a child and a few years ago tried to go again but it was being remodeled. The new building is beautiful. The collection is amazing from the history of toys through the early 1900s to the '70s '80s and '90s and a look at the dollhouses and find miniatures. I think adults will find this enjoyable with the nostalgic toys and children sure the trays. There are a few interactive displays and videos. I'm guessing they have an area that will rotate different themes of toys. Currently there is a large display of superhero toys. The building has two stories. There is plenty of parking out front. We were looking for somewhere to go on a Sunday and was surprised it's open until 4: 00 p.m. We look forward to going back and taking the kids.
