I have been here over 6 months. Did not know my apt balcony would be facing the forest with all trees. I was not shown this apt until the day before move in. I get no sunshine in the summer months for my plants and they all died. That's my serenity. Need sunshine not the forest trees. Trees need trimmed the branches touch the balcony. The balconies around here have wood rot. Rain/snow goes thru balcony dripping overhead on you. My apt is not leveled (living room and kitchen) it slopes toward the forest. These are older buildings and they just patch things up. I can go on and on. This is my apt and I deal with it until I move to a different unit.

Don't even think about living here. The leasing office and payment portal are a mess.

I’m so happy i’m moving out.this place was a scam.there’s multiple fruit flies, ants and mosquitoes in the house and plus, we signed up for hardwood and got carpet.the day we moved in it smelled terrible! Don’t ever move here please.and its so not worth the money.

When you get there, ask for Pamela. She is the nicest one in the building. Tbh we havent had any super bad experiences here besides a catalytic converter being stolen and almost being charged double our rent. And we have been here for almost two years. Its a quiet community and neighborhood is safe enough to walk in at night.

They scammed my mom out of her deposit. She paid her pet fee every month and they said she damaged the fireplace she never used. My mom was forced to retire from COVID and now they have taken more than half her deposit. Don't do it.

For one thing, the admins in the leasing office make themselves as hard to reach as possible. I’ve called a few times during business hours every single day they are open for two weeks and they never, and I mean not once, picked up. The second issue, you should know that you are getting ripped off with the storm water and sewage charges. If you go to apply they tell you it is $34 a month? Just look on KC Water’s website and you’ll see they estimate $2-$3 per month and say it is the average and is calculated as $0.50 per 500 sq feet of impervious area. Never in my life have I paid more than MAYBE $6 max. Clearly something fishy with admin fees is going on here so I wouldn’t trust any other amount that they bill you either. Do not recommend.

I moved in February 1st, ever since then i have had problems.the first day the toilet was leaking.parking was terrible luckily that is fixed but there still is not enough parking. Ive had 3 breakins on my vehicle but they dont have cameras to help. They have over charged me plenty of times.currently looking at new places to live. I do like my neighbors so that does help a little but i will not be there much longer.

Decent place, could have better maintenance. Watch out for Adam Deuel at the office. 2 customer service, 5 power trip.

I stayed here for several years after I graduated and each year I stayed my experience got worse, I finally moved out to get more space and rent from a local company. During my stay here my apartment was often ~80F in the summer and was told that there is nothing that could be done about it and there were several car break-ins. I would not recommend these apartments to anyone. I would agree with several other reviews that the property management's communication is horrible and I will add that they are unreasonable. When you move out expect surprise fees and no communication about them beforehand.

The apartments was not the issue but the manager is (Adam) hard to deal with. Doesn't know how to communicate properly. I did not have the upgraded apt as I thought I was getting. When trying to communicate with Adam he is short and extremely rude. It was to appont I would not communicate with him at all. The assistant manager Morgan is friendly and communicates with you as a person. She is helpful and response. I am still not understanding why she is not the manager. The maintenance team is pretty response and friendly as well.

They have a lot of vehicle break- ins including myself. They have no interest in putting up cameras. Their answer is that you have to take measures to prevent it. You have to haul trash in your own car. They will not replace their rotting decks and walkways unless you fall through one then they will replace the board that broke. I moved for my own safety. Now they are trying to make me pay for the drywall damages caused by the building sinking. Beware moving here because they have a fine for EVERYTHING!

Just moved in last Monday and we love our apartment. Also maintenance is exceptionally fast and we love that. Leasing staff is very punctual and professional. Would recommend this complex to anyone and everyone

Office staff are kind and helpful. But the apartments themselves aren't great. My main gripe is the fact that the complex is supposedly patrolled by Metro Public Safety, but I've had three catalytic converters cut off my two cars, and another vehicle which was stolen out of the parking lot and RETURNED (without the transmission or catalytic converter) without anyone noticing anything.

You get what you pay for. Over the last few years, my wife and I moved to Kansas City, MO and chose to live at The Retreat at Walnut Creek. The location to downtown, the price, and the amenities are why we chose this apartment complex. Please understand that the information below is my opinion and experiences while living at this apartment complex. Over the last several years, we have been very dissatisfied with the apartment infrastructure including the staff. The buildings themselves are outdated and not well kept up with. In 5 years, never once was the chimney in our apartment serviced. We stopped using the fireplace in year 2. When you put in a service request, do not expect a quick turn around time. It took over 1 week to even get a response when there was water damage due to our apartment being on the first floor, a large storm, and the building itself was not able to keep the water out. Water seeped into our guest bedroom floor through the walls and floor damaging the carpet and causing mold to grow. This was are absolute last straw. This isn't an isolated incident either. Over the 5 years we did live here, we had several water damage issues related to the structural integrity of the building. Moving past the poorly managed physical infrastructure of our apartment, the property itself is managed.haphazardly at best. The "trails" are not kept up with. The "pond" is just sewer runoff. The pool is closed more than it is opened in the summer months. The gym is actually not bad. We did like that amenity. Parking is limited for several of the apartment buildings and the parking spots are very close together. The biggest problem with parking is that the spots themselves have 4 divots (1 for each tire) which can force your car to roll into a curb. It also makes leaving your parking spot difficult in the winter (frozen water in the divots adhere to your vehicle tires). I personally never had an issue with this because I have AWD and enough HP/Torque to handle it, however I have had to assist several people throughout the years to get their cars unstuck from their spots. Over the years the management team has become slightly more responsive but there is a history of no answer and no replies when attempting to communicate with the management staff via phone. Whatever communication you do, make sure it is done through email and in some form of print. Overall, I was able to grow a lot from living here and even though I had several negative experiences, the location to downtown and the price made it a feasible solution for my living arrangements. I will never move back into an apartment that is ran like this. If the above information is found to be helpful for a consumer great. Please remember, these are just my opinions and experiences.what do I know.

Moving alone is often a scary thing for some, but with the help of Aubrey and Pamela my love was so easy and stress free! My dog and I absolutely love this place and plan to be here for quite some time! Love the view we got and how friendly everyone is in the complex!

I have had a very positive experience with the management of this company. Morgan has been more than accommodating, helpful, and you can tell in her professionalism that she truly cares about her residents. She makes you feel like no question is out of the norm to ask and has worked hard to resolve all of them. Morgan responds in a very timely manner and does her best to get the situation figured out for you. I recommend leasing from her to anyone.

You get what you pay for - really great price for an old apartment with good facilities. The ground keeper does a great job keeping the dog park clean and making the place look beautiful. The biggest negative about this place is dealing with the office staff. I'm not sure if they do it on purpose to try to make more money or if they are really just bad at math, but there were many times they asked me to pay more than I was suppose to according to my lease. My best advice is to look at your lease and make sure they are charging you the right amount each month.

My family and I are in our 3rd year lease here and we have truly liked it a lot better here than the previous apartment that we were in. The leasing agent Morgan is by far one of the most helpful considerate and helpful people I have known. She makes us feel valued and like what we need help with is important.

I love my apartment here at The Retreat at Walnut Creek. There is tons of closet space and I have extra storage on my balcony. Definitely would recommend this place. The office is so nice and my maintenance man, Chase, always stops when he sees me to say hi and ask if I need help or anything. Been here 10 years- not going anywhere any time soon!
