The River King Mine Train reviews
10Welcome to the mine train, for your safety, you must be 42 inches or taller to ride. Please also make sure to put all bags, backpacks and purses in the cubbies provided.
The River King Mine Train is still a fun roller coaster experience after more than half a century. I'm quite amazed how smooth many parts of the ride still are. But, don't expect a crazy out of control roller coaster experience. This is an old, small but enjoyable ride. For a more thrilling roller coaster experience; check out the other options in the park.
Classic mine train experience. The trains are uncomfortable but the ride is still fun. There is usually never a line. People with really long legs might have trouble fitting under the lap bar that comes down. Make sure to hold on if you don’t want to be slammed into the side of the seat.
The River King mine train opened with the park in 1971, themed after an actual mine that operated in Illinois until 1989. Sadly this roller coaster no longer races each other. The other half (Big Bad John) is located at Magic Springs. This ride is a pure classic and has feels fairly smooth for its age compared to its older brothers in Georgia and Texas. The best part of the ride is final drop down in the mine shaft. This is also a good coaster not only for young kids who meet the hight requirement, but also fun for adults as this coaster reaches 37 mph, which is not bad for only standing 32 feet tall! I recommend this ride for anyone, as long as they don’t mind the bumps in rides first half.
The River King Mine Train is definitely a good ride! If you have a young child, it is a great starting ride, however it is a great ride for all ages. It is not jerky at all and I've never seen the ride down. It is iconic being the first ride at Six Flags in 1971. I would recommend to anyone! I would also recommend The Batman! It is so fun!
Quite the fun ride and good for those who want to enjoy themselves. Not much of a thriller but that's good to compensate for all the faster attractions.
TLDR: great ride, but there wasn't a door: It was fun, i was screaming the entire time because i was a little baby, but the big drop at the end is my favorite part, the only bad part about it was that on my car thing, there wasn't even a door on the left side (where i sat) and the ride did a thing where it went up and it was standing up on it's left side, so i thought i was about to fall off because there wasn't a door, but it didn't.
A great starter roller coaster for kids and adults alike. Fyi at th time of this post there were very large wood boring hornets near the entrance to the building (just keep an eye out, I'm sure Sux Flags will take care of it soon) ; I will mention it to the attendants.
This is one of the best Mine Train coasters you can find. Smooth, scenic, terrain conforming, comfortable, and with probably the best final drop on any mine train. I used to pass off mine trains as kids rides, but River King is the one that made me realize just how great these rides can be. Incredibly fun and amazing for families.
This rollercoaster has been operating since they opened. Love it because it rides like the first; very jerky and shaky. Dare you to ride it.
