The Trophy Room at Old Kinderhook reviews
14Only star loss was on me, sitting in the bar area. A little loud to me, but I've been holed up not leaving the house. Right, putting the star back.
One of our favorite places to go on a date! Romantic, beautiful view and food/drinks are excellent!
Robin was the best part of our entire trip. Truly lit up the room and provided excellent service. I’d honestly make her my maid of honor if I could!
Our server was Robin, and she provided one of the best dining experiences I have ever had in a group. Cannot express how amazing Robin is.
We always get great service at the Trophy Room, particularly when we have Sara. The food is great too, although the new menu is much smaller than their old one, which included my favorite salmon BLT. The atmosphere is beautiful and mostly comfortable. It is a mix of golf club meets western which is perfect for an outing with the family that come to visit. My grandparents love the spare ribs and we are all very impressed by Old Kinderhook in general. It is wonderful that they incorporate an outdoor activity with the season (volleyball/ice skating.) My only complaint, which I understand is totally preferential, is that the lightbulb wattage, was a bit too high.
I hate to post this because it is a restaurant close to us and we were somewhat regulars. I don’t know what changed, but it has gone down hill badly the last two years or so. It was awesome before.
Just in our last trip, the waitress didn’t put in the order for half the table (and still got them wrong). So half were eating while the others waited another 45 minutes. Drinks were ordered and 30 minutes later they would show up with the ice completely melted. I could go on and on. Every trip the last few years has been a disaster.
If you want fine dining, go to Jones Chop House or some of the other nice steak houses. This place has turned into mediocre bar food at best with terrible service for the same price as legitimate steak houses.
We dined at the Trophy Room a week ago,
I wanted to comment on our waitress, Sara; she was very kind, helpful and was truly pleasant towards us the entire time she waited on us! She made sure our drinks were full, our questions about the menu were answered and she always had smile!
The walleye and swordfish dinners were both delicious. We really like dining at the Trophy Room!
I sent my steak back twice as I ordered it medium well. So frustrating, but the chef don't give me a break, the waitress that had been there only 2 weeks have me 10% off. If you are a cook and don't do your job, the waitress shouldn't pay the price.
The food was fabulous. My companion and I had different chicken dishes. In each dish, the chicken was prepared perfectly, moist and tender.
Service was awful. Took more than an hour and a half for two people to eat dinner (1 bottle of wine, 2 entrees, one app). Sat for almost 20 minutes from finishing our meal, waiting on our server to bring us the dessert menu and some boxes for leftovers. Food was waaay overpriced. Same quality as an Applebee's but just like 3X the price. Whoever runs this place should honesty be embarrassed, especially considering this place is on an "upscale" golf course with multimillion dollar homes within throwing distance. Don't bother. This place is a smoking, trash pit.
Short staff excuse for catering to larger groups and completely ignoring couples. Don't go alone or it's an order then a request then and apology and still no food. Thanks for wrecking ones nerves until they're no longer wanting the food. Sad because my first experience was amazing, but it is what it is.
Unfortunately, this is now the 3rd time we’ve had the same poor experience. I like to give places a couple chances before giving them a poor review.
This time- we ordered the ribeye, shrimp and grits, and the blackened chicken pasta.
Ribeye- was supposed to be medium rare, came out well done and dry. It was sent back, came back completely rare, and over salted. Also, the sides disappeared the second time it came back. So steak, with no sides.
The chicken pasta was the only good dish. Although it was a little dry, it had good flavors.
The shrimp in the shrimp and grits- was RAW! And the waitress did nothing about it when we showed it to her. We didn’t eat the dish, but paid for the meal. The view was beautiful, but we will not be recommending this place to our friends. The food and poor service was not worth the $$$ we paid. Very sad.
I met my daughter and son-in-law when they finished golfing for a late lunch/early dinner. We sat outside on the covered patio. The cocktails were great (Pom Martini) and appetizers large portions. We enjoyed our time and will return.
