Horrific throwing puppies in lakes, not how you train dogs. Just read the other reviews. Waste of money.

Who can literally throw their puppy in the water and call it training? Those poor dogs. What a horrible way to treat animals, especially if they belong to a client.

I viewed the "head trainer" tossing a puppy in a lake, repeatedly, as a form of training. This place needs its license pulled ASAP. BTW, I have the video proof.

In 2018 the school went under new instruction as all of the old (and great) instructors left. I have heard from and seen videos from the training that the new trainers are using- very cruel and inhumane methods.

Please do not attend this school.

Most of the positive reviews are written from Students attending under the good instructions. (2017 and previous).

I’ve just watched a video shared by ‘The Patrick Miracle’ of the head trainer at this ‘school’ throwing puppies into a waterbody as part of ‘ training’. As someone that has worked in the veterinary health care and welfare sector for more than ten years, this is appalling and inexcusable behaviour. It’s also not the way you train any type of animal and can be the cause of significant distress and injury! I’m disgusted by this video and I hope that this incident and the training of this school is formally investigated. This business requires immediate closure!
Don’t take your dogs to be trained here. Find a trainer that uses positive reinforcement measures to train.

In the past 10 years I had taken all my dogs there. In the past year I took a new dog and this time the staff was different. They were unprofessional and didn’t bother to tell me that they had changed their entire staff and now you have to supply your own training tools which wouldn’t typically be a problem but they waited til I picked up my dog to tell me. The old staff that I knew and loved so much and had been thru training with, with 4 other dogs was gone.
The new department head made excuses for their lack of professionalism and as much money and time I have spent with them in the past and recommended them I never will again. They do not have the same standard or quality of training that they did 3-5 years ago which is so sad cause they used to be amazing.

You don't train puppies who are shaking in fear by throwing them in the lake. You guys don't deserve to be around any animal.

They are not properly trained themselves. Therefore not worthy to teach others. Animal cruelty here. The license should be revoked

School owner didn't report an incident where a student had two dogs die in a car left unattend for two hours. Not the kind of trainer I'll look for.

We spent A LOT of money going here. The staff was unprofessional. The school and rental properties are dated, falling into disrepair. Basically living there is like living in a slum or worse. The place is a dump. The owner puts the money in his pocket, refuses to maintain student living quarters. The instructors are rude. Unfortunately many dogs are abused and mistreated, and although they say they have strict policies, the instructors turned a blind eye. This school lied to the VA, losing their VA relationship. The drama at the school between students is absolutely ridiculous. After we presented an abuse complaint and said we were going to withdraw they would not give us a refund. I’m warning you, do not get involved with this school. I failed to heed the warnings and they got a lot of our money. Funny, 2 of the people on here that gave it 5 stars were sleeping together during their schooling there. One was a Rose Scholar (total joke program) and one was a new student who couldn’t find her head in a brown bag and could not have done anything with her dog if her boyfriend, who already was training, didn’t help her and basically do it for her. Another student was a total dingbat but she was also screwing a Rose Scholar student who was the one training her dogs so she could pass. And if you don’t pass something, if you are ‘friends’ with the instructors, they will pass you. Total, absolute disregard for the dogs. Knew a student that stomped his puppy’s neck hard enough to cause a seizure, and another time picked a full grown lab up by her ear, but the instructors wouldn’t kick him out. Awful place... Save your money. They have been in a legal dispute with the VA now for a couple years. Do NOT waste your money!

Do not go here. Total scam, the guy doesn't do any teaching, teachers are rude. The only thing you'll learn here is janitorial skills.

Your dogs will be getting trained by students who have no idea how to actually train dogs. You're paying a premium to have your dog trained by this guy and he's having STUDENTS train them. The students aren't being compensated either

I paid a deposit to go there. Visited. Saw a student kick his puppy a good 10 feet across the room, because it messed up on the test, AND NOBODY CARED. I walked straight out and never looked back. It was dumpy, the students looked stressed, and the dogs were miserable. Fast forward six years and I couldn’t be happier that I never went there. I do not recommend this school, and, based on what I’ve heard over the years, neither do other trainers. - Amy Pishner

I love my experience at the Tom Rose School. If your interested in learning how to train pets style or competition style then this is the place. Where you learn multiple techniques for multiple behaviors. They are very open and more than willing to take there time to help you, and they will be straight forward and honest in the best way good investment

The Tom Rose School was very well ran and organized. Their process works very well for the individual who wants to get into and learn how to train high obedience or compete. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and super helpful. All you really have to do is be a sponge and follow direction.:)

Attending the Tom Rose School was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. If you truly have a passion for training dogs to do anything imaginable you will love this program. It is not an easy program- you really have to be devoted and put the work in but it is 100% worth what you get out of it. I would say this is not a casual program. You can learn how to teach a dog to sit out of a book or a pet store puppy class, but if you want to train bombproof dogs that can work for anything without flinching this school is the best you will find. The instructors are extremely thorough, covering everything from starting a business to training competition level canines, and they are available every hour of the day to help you with the many challenges you’ll face. I can’t thank the instructors enough, particularly Dave, Jeremy, and Tom enough. If this is the direction you want with all of your heart you will love every second of it.

These folks are very well vetted in the business of dog obedience training. They have provided many four-legged friends the tools to both succeed in this field, and excel to levels I didn’t think were achievable. Very professional.

One disturbing trend in our world of “reviews” is what I noticed here, in that these folks work hard at their passion - changing dog’s behavior and improving the relationships of dogs and owners. But if you don’t like the experience that YOU had with these folks (or maybe you have alterior motives?), you can condemn them via this media, AND OBVIOUSLY get your friends to do the same! When I see the same exact issue repeat itself, it doesn’t take, as we say, a BRAIN SURGEON to figure out what is going on. SAD, but true!

Good folks. My dog deserves THIS level of care and learning. I would encourage you to to check these folks out.

I attended this school in 08-09 and it was amazing. They cover all variations of dog training go over he pros and cons of each as well. You learn to train working dogs and pet dogs alike. You work with the public, do board and trains as well. Toms knowledge was and is VAST. I tell people it’s the best school in the world and the fact that two gentlemen come from different countries to learn how to train there would confirm that. This school teaches you everything you need to be the best! Any negative post about abuse and mistreatment is simply false plain and simple

Attended the January 2018 professionals class. Dave and Jeremy were awesome instructors, i learned a great deal from them, and couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Complete disregard for a dogs health. Not someone I would trust my dog with! There are many other professional places to learn how to properly train dogs. This is not a place I would recommend.
