Union Loafers Café and Bread Bakery reviews
17 Place is usually packed but pretty quick, and always highly recommend for lunch, pizza, or just stopping in for some bread - because that is what they are known for after all. Sitting on the infamous corner in botanical
Heights boasting a shortlist of heavy hitting restaurants and bakeries in the St. Louis food scene. The pics are a recent trip and feature the smoked trout salad sandwich and some other crowd favorites.
One of my absolute favorite pizza joints in STL. Get the buttermilk dressing to dip your pizza in!
Best lunch spot hands down!
Smoked beet sandwich, egg salad sandwich plus giardiniera, potato salad, house gem, kale and garbanzo soup, and coffee soda are my top favorites for sure! Love the marinara pizza and italian salad for dinner too! Best bread and pizza in town, nothing compares. Try the oat porridge, semolina, or seeded Janie’s.
Loafers does it flawlessly every time! Anything you get it delicious and handcrafted. Highly recommend
We had two of their sandwich options, a soup, potato salad, and the coffee soda. Every single item was absolutely delicious. It is rare that you get a meal without a single miss. Came back a second time. Service was fantastic. The pizzas are incredible. Cocktails were just ok but not enough to detract from the overall excellence of this place.
I went here for the first time today, and I already can't wait to go back and get another sandwich.
Yes, it's that good.
Yes, you should go.
Best bread in St. Louis! Everything served in the restaurant is amazing as well, definitely get a side of soup with any sandwich you try!
Super cute little place, roasted pork sandwich was fantastic. Everything we tried was kept simple and to the highest quality. Would definitely come back.
Very good system to accommodate people. The food is always amazing. Worth to eat healthy carbs here.
Excellent bread! I just stopped in for a couple loaves, so I didn't try any "food". I went at lunchtime so they said they couldn't slice loaves for me during that time, so if that's important to you, don't go during lunch.
I got a marble rye loaf and the light and mild. The rye was dark and delightful. The sourdough was chewy and perfectly crisp on the exterior. I had them as toast and also just sliced with butter and I couldn't tell you which was better. Exceptional quality and am returning this week to try 2 more!
Wonderful find!
Great pizza and salad. The music isn't so loud you can't hear whoever you're with. Staff were great too. Definitely will go back.
This is a great place to grab a satisfying lunch. I was a little hesitant to try them since it looked to just be a sandwich shop with a few soups and salads, but don't let that deter you. They bake fresh breads in-house that are incredibly delicious, and make the sandwiches that much better. You get generous portions of meats that are very flavorful and thoughtfully garnished. Their trout salad (which they don't always offer) is one of best things I've ever tasted! They become a pizza place for dinner, but I haven't tried that yet. Either way, service is quick and friendly in an attractive atmosphere. Union Loafers can get a little pricey for what it is, but you will undoubtedly get a very high quality meal.
Simple and comfortable environment. Fresh cheese and burnt toast was delightful, excellent pizza. Had a really great beer and the staff were friendly, and helpful. Would definitely return
We bought a loaf of bread to take home recently and it did not disappoint. Beautiful crust and flavor. Obviously made with love. We haven’t tried the pizza or sandwiches yet but we will be back.
Our favorite place for lunch the beet sandwich and Rosa and coffee soda and cookies and garbanzo soup are all fantastic.
Everyone was in flow like that of a great baseball game - firmly delighted to be there and see would-be diners.
The Caeser salad was probably the best I can remember.
The pizza (we tasted four flavors) was clean eating and spiced to perfection. Be sure and try the house-made sodas.
I've been to so many places that use their amazing bread so I had to try this place! We got sandwiches for lunch, and the bread was great as always, but the sandwiches each were just okay. If I lived closer, I'd stop in for loaves of bread, and maybe try the dinner pizza everyone talks about, but wouldn't get the sandwiches.
Enjoyed the special with half a sandwich and a bowl of soup.
The Czech pilsner was great
