My! 2 yr.old Labrador Hank was diagnosed with a ginormous tumor on his spleen. 12 years is a pretty long life for a Labrador, but we felt he was a strong dog for his age, no joint or bowel issues. We decided it just wasn't his time and, decided to have the tumor removed.our Surgeon was Dr. Coletti, a compassionate straight shooter. Dr Coletti went through the pros and cons of during surgery on a dog this old but told us his heart and lungs sounded good.he wouldn't know what kind of cancer Hank hand until after the tumor was removed and biopsied.there is also the chance that he might not come out of the anesthesia, and we could lose him anyway. We still decided it was a go, and trusted Dr. Coletti after meeting him.
Dr Coletti removed a 7.3 pound tumor and spleen for our buddy Hank! Wow! The VSS Staff kept us updated throughout the night following his procedure.they ended up keeping him a couple extra days because of his red blood count, if I remember right. Again, the staff kept us updated to Hank's condition and again were so nice and understanding about our concerns and wanting him home as soon as possible.we knew it was better having him looked after by VSS staff than getting him home before it was safe to do so. Since Hank's return home, he is like a new old dog! He seems so much happier now that that huge tumor is gone. Nothing in life is guaranteed and feel so fortunate to have Hank back home and feeling better. I would like to thank Dr. Coletti and his staff at VSS for giving us our Hank back, we just weren't ready to let him go. Any additional time we have him now has been well worth it!

My dog was not feeling well (Lethargic straining for potty and not eating) and we went to see VSS early on a Sunday morning. Got right in and after about an hour had a dx for admission. I cannot day enough GREAT things about the staff. They were upfront with estimates for procedures and kept us informed several times a day while he was admitted. Dr that performed the surgery helped guide us through prognosis and again upfront on realistic expectations. Every one was so nice and compassionate. One of the front office workers even cried with me. I could not believe how our regular vet missed this just days prior and now our dog is doing well and will have more time to be the happy pup he is. Yes this place is expensive but he is a member of our family and knowing what the potential costs could be before we agreed to have the surgery was definitely a plus and not sideblind us. The techs and front office were amazing. Thank you so much VSS for all your help! I would give you 100 on Google if I could!

Absolutely one of the worst customer experiences that we have ever had anywhere. The person that answered the phone last nite at VSS was beyond rude. Our Vet referred VSS on Winghaven to us because our dog was having a medical emergency. When my wife and mother in law arrived at VSS, they were told by the employee that our dog was NOT considered an emergency according to the non-compassionate worker just because he was panting heavily, and had a mass on his abdomen. Little did she know or even care to know that our dog was indeed in need of immediate medical attention, because after leaving VSS due to the disgusting display of unprofessional behavior, we had to drive 30 minutes to Kirkwood, Missouri to another animal clinic on an emergency basis. When arriving at the new clinic, the doctor and the doctors assistance promptly rushed our dog in and probably saved his life due to the fact that his blood pressure was over 300. A dogs blood pressure is supposed to be at 160 or below. He was near stroke level. This is why he was panting heavily, and why it was a part of the medical emergency and part of the reason for his extraordinarily high blood pressure. By the grace of God, we made it to the other veterinarian clinic before something worse happened. There was Zero compassion at VSS. You’re in the wrong business if you don’t care about animals, especially at an emergency clinic.

I took my dog into VSS at Winghaven one evening when she was having issues breathing. She is on heart medication, and with her age, my vet suggested I go there. After some tests and x-rays, she was diagnosed with pneumonia and kept overnight. They sent her home the next morning. I think that was too early because she still hadn't started eating by early the next week (although I thought that maybe she just wasn't feeling well) and was still having issues breathing. I called VSS again in an early morning and they advised me to bring her in. They again kept her hospitalized, this time for 3 days, and there was a remarkable difference when I went in to pick her up that time. She is now ready for her follow-up with her regular vet and is back to her old self. I cannot thank VSS enough. While pneumonia is generally very treatable, my dog is a senior, and I truly feel as if they saved her life.

This place is a nightmare. I took my new dog there a little over a year ago 6 days after i had rescued him. I sat out in thw car (covid) waiting finally was called and told to come in side and was put in a room and waited another hour. There was only 2 other people there and we all waited and never saw anyone. My dog was not hardly moving especially for a 3 year old high energy puppy. I complained and was told no one was available. I told them fine i was leaving and so a couple hundred dollars later for them doing nothing. I left took him to my vet the next day and he was dieing from rat poisoning and if it had been 24 more hours he would of died. He is not feeling good again he on Christmas day having a hard time breaking and coughing like crazy i called and was told it would be about 6 hrs for the visit at least. They have other animals in the back to care for. Idk why the vet techs are not caring for the animals in there care while the actual vets are assessing the emergency animals coming in. All i can say is look at the track record on these views the good and bad. Even the bad ones are saying how the put there animals to sleep i guess thats what they are good doing in the backroom where they assessing your animals if they ever do see them. I will never take my pet somewhere i can be in the room when i doctor examines them.

We had an older dog that needed immediate bloodwork to help diagnose so our vet sent us to VSS. They were compassionate and thorough. We ended up needing to make the decision to euthanize due to the breadth of the problems and that was handled so well. Our whole family was with him and we were provided ample time to say goodbye and begin the grieving process. I cannot thank them enough for quickly finding the problem and helping us through the decision and taking good care of Tucker.

Dr. Coletti and staff deserve more than 5 stars. Dr. Coletti surgically operated on my Pitbull/ Hank (TPLO) and could not be more pleased with not only the outcome but their outline of care prior to and after surgery.

VSS O'Fallon has an amazing group of people working there providing most excellent care. Haines has been recovering nicely from his emergency PU surgery after a week long hospitalization for obstruction from struvite crystals. I am so thankful to have found Dr Mahn who I believe is an amazing surgeon. Haines, and the other 2 dogs who had surgery with Dr Mahn agree. Thank you all!

I brought my 7 year old schnauzer who was having trouble breathing for the first time. They said he had some fluid and they were going to keep him overnight that it was a normal procedure etc. 1 hour later they called me to tell me he died. I regret bringing him there. I blame them fully of what happened to my dog.

Thank you Dr Snyder & her staff for having emergency services available. I would not have known what to do if they couldn’t have gotten me in. I’m so beyond thankful that they took such good care of my puppy, especially at 3 in the morning. Thank you again for everything you guys did, and do daily.

Dr. Snyder and her staff were absolutely amazing! They took their time and actually listened to my mom and I about our concerns with what was going on with my puppy Minnie. They were so friendly I highly recommend this office for any emergency vet visits.

To save you time sifting through the reviews, most of the low ratings complain about the Covid curbside protocols and, on occasion, the cost. In regards to quality of care and expertise, you’ll find almost zero complaints. To address both of those complaints, this is an emergency hospital. Emergency hospitals cost more, just like seeing your doctor versus going to the emergency room. As far as the curbside service, they are adhering to Covid protocols, and masks are required. Bear in mind though, they have a bunch of critically ill pets in their care they likely don’t want to risk getting any sicker.

Regarding our own experience, we’d give them six stars if we could. We found three cats living under a road in drain tubes to let water pass, a mom and two kittens. After a couple of visits to our primary care veterinarian, one of the kittens had to be put down due to liver failure. By the next morning, the other two seemed to be following suit. We rushed them to our primary care veterinarian who kept them for the day. Our veterinarian referred us to VSS for overnight hospitalisation.

VSS hospitalised them for the next couple of nights with constant fluids and antibiotics. On top of medicating them and keeping them well hydrated, they also ensured they both ate, and the veterinarian personally called us each morning after the overnights to update us on their progress.

They also were happy to give us updates whenever we called, and they were prompt as well, which let us know they didn’t have to fumble around through papers or records to see how they were doing. The few times we called, they knew exactly which patients we were referring to, and they could give us an immediate update on their conditions. We would absolutely use them again in future emergency situations. We were very impressed.

Took my dog in was very sick. Told me what they did and options available to me. Called next day to talk to vet that took care of him the night before. Was told the vets move everyday and they could not tell me where she was. I found this unprofessional I just wanted 5minutes of her time. Don't blame her over the office could of made some kind of effort but was a flat no.

I’m very grateful for this pace and Dr. Kimberlin and his team. They gave my furry baby a new life with TPLO surgery on one of her knees as she wasn’t using the leg at all. Now a year later we travel across the U. S.and go for walks hikes etc. The care we received was superior, the people here really care about the animals. We thank you very much!

Where do I even begin! The staff was extremely attentive, NICE, and wonderful to work with when we had to bring our little pup in after demolishing an entire bag of dark chocolate. We did have to pay up front for the costs that were to come with her staying overnight. When she was being discharged, I was SHOCKED when they said that they would be refunding me some of the costs because they didn’t end up administering a certain medication. Honesty and integrity…. Hard to find now a days! If you are looking for exceptional care, you NEED to come here!
