Wasahi Japanese Steak House & Sushi Bar, Kansas City MO

We got there an hour before closing due to a late flight into KC.
Staff was very friendly and the food was amazing! We had Steak & Shrimp combos and an amazing egg roll as well! We will be back next time we are in the northland!

I was not overly impressed with the teppanyaki. The scallops were fishy and very sweet teriyaki sauce on noodles was off-putting. Yellow sauce was good, and the filet was tasty. Very empty, but good service.

The best in the northland. Always delicious, well priced, and the staff is great. Thank you for being my go to Habachi for over a decade.

Wonderful dinner here for my son’s 14th birthday. Food was fresh and delicious. Service was great. Will definitely go again!

The staff was not prepared to service our party even though we called ahead of time. Then we had to wait since they were under staffed & 1 waitress trying to handle 2 other parties. Don't order drinks from them cuz they couldn't make a dakari. The drink went bk twice. When it was still bad we asked that it be removed from the order & the waitress snapped bk saying she wasn't going to pay for the drink. If this establishment can't eat the cost of a bad drink don't sell them. It was my birthday & she couldn't hold her tongue to a customer? Never again

One of our families favorite restaurants for many years. Always a great experience and great food!

It's your standard "cooked in front of you" place. The service is good, the chef did a good job. In my opinion, not really worth it for the money. I got the chicken, which was around 23 dollars, and came with rice, a small bowl of soup, and a salad. Paid an extra 1.50 for fried rice. The soup was kind of bland, the salad was drowned in dressing. The chicken and rice were good, although it seemed like more of a vehicle for their sauces. The ginger sauce was very good. All in all, it was quite average. Inoffensive, but not a great meal.

Place deserves ZERO STARS. Huge disappointment for family. I called Saturday and made a reservation for birthday celebration. We arrived and waited for some to greet us. That took at least 10 minutes, told greeter we had reservation for our group. They walk wawy for 10 minutes and go about doing who knows what. I finally go over and ask them what is going on. The inept staff double booked the reservation, but rather than let us know that, just went about their business, if you can call it that. Food smelled good, staff absolutely horrible, so we walked out.

Amazing! Best sushi I have ever had in my life! The scallops were so tender and full of flavor and the shrimp is to die for!

When we arrived, there was some sort of friction happening between the waitress staff. The ladies in front of me at the hostess station said that they had been waiting for at least 7 minutes for someone to acknowledge them. They were finally seated. I waited 4 more minutes for someone to acknowledge me and then we were seated. We sat on the sushi side.
The food was okay.

The hibachi guy was amazing, the food was delicious, portions were great, and the waitress was the bomb.

If I could give zero stars I would. I’ll start by saying our Hibachi chef was amazing. That’s where the good things about this restaurant stops. I was there last week and we had a reservation for 15 to celebrate a friend who is having a baby. They 100% had a reservation. Half of our party showed up at 5: 00 and the other half, that didn’t get off work until 5: 00 came around 5: 30. I was one of the ones who came later. Our server was TERRIBLE and had the worst attitude. They BARELY gave us enough room for 8 so when the rest of our party came, our only options were to “squeeze in or not do hibachi” which we had already ordered for because the grill next to us was “reserved”. The second I sat down the server demanded my drink order and was rude when I gave it to her. We got TWO menus for a 15 person party and was I was given an attitude when I told her that we didn’t get enough menus and didn’t know what I wanted for the grill. She very rudely yelled, “We have steak, chicken, shrimp…. So make a choice. What will it be? ” When the rest of our party came she did the same thing to them. When they took their time to look at the menu the server huffed and said, “The chef has been waiting for over 20 minutes to come cook, so you need to hurry up. ” The crab Rangoon was cold and nasty, the soup was gross, and the salad had questionable dressing. When it was time to pay she literally threw the checks across the table and got irritated when I had to get my wallet out of my purse. Mediocre food and terrible service, I’ll pass. I 100% NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Do not waste your money or time. I will never be back here.

I think the sushi is the highlight of this place! Service is not great at all. Don't plan on getting refills on drinks. The hibachi grille was good but lacked the fun showiness that other places have.

The sushi here is excellent. Such a nice surprise for our landlocked area! If you've been looking for truly fresh, sushi-grade vittles with an authentic Japanese flair, this is the go-to spot. Soooooo happy to have found Wasahi. So. Glad.

Service is kinda shotty. So there may be a wait for your food. Very heavy handed on the sauces. But okay. Calamari appetizer size portion. Extremely tiny.

Sooo good. I've never been to a Japanese steakhouse so I was amused the whole time. If you've never been I suggest you try it. It is kind of pricey but worth it.

Price is mildly high but fair love the food great dranks.but entertainment was less then expected great service nice people pour parking.only have 5 bars so if u didn't show up at right time maybe a wait

Well… was attempting to try this place for the first time. I called at about 4 and asked if a reservation was recommended and they said yes. I tried calling back now (7: 00) to make that reservation for 8pm and kept getting hung up on. Multiple times. I guess they’re not interested in getting new customers. ‍️

Love this place! My favorite Japanese Steakhouse around. The food is always delicious and always have some to bring home. The sushi is made the way I want every time and the employees are friendly and entertaining at the grill. Great place to go for Birthdays and family dinners.

Generally overpriced and somewhat generic, bordering on needing a good cleaning too. Food was not bad, but not great. They were accommodating, but not happy with lack a reservation.
