Both me and my sister have adopted cats from Wayside and both of us have had bad experiences. We have the sweetest cats, but hers brought Ringworm home to her other cats (still dealing with months later because it's so contagious, and that they insisted had multiple negative ringworm tests) and mine has a gum disease they didn't disclose to me that requires a $1000+ dental surgery in the next few weeks. I emailed them about it and they said they noted some inflammation in his front teeth (not the ones that have actual issues, also no notes of it in the medical forms they gave me). We don't trust their vets, or maybe the cats aren't examined enough but either way expect a lot of vet bills after you leave this place. I tried fighting for them to cover part of my cat's surgery because it's legit been four days since I got him, and he did not develop this gum disease overnight, but they want me to schedule an appointment to see him (they know I live an hour away) before telling me if they would help cover the costs or if they could provide the surgery and they won't reimburse anything outside of Wayside. Super disappointed.

I had my cat cremated at Wayside Waifs just last week. Rachael and Victoria are amazing. When I brought her home I decided to look at the ashes of previous pets I've had. 2 of them were not done correctly and I had them done in another state. I contacted Victoria and she let me bring my other 2 pets ashes in to be corrected for free. They turned out great and the way you expect ashes to look. I am very impressed by the service I received for the pet memorial services.

We had our pet cremated there and they were amazing. They helped us bring her in on a soft bed and give us time to say goodbye. Then when we got her back they give us a lot of things to remember her by and a note that made us ball our eyes out in the parking lot. The two ladies that were at the front gave us all the help we needed and helped us through the process.

Only putting one star because I have to to in order to post this review. Zero stars would be better. Their policy on looking at dogs is awful and hurtful to families. You shouldn’t be able to look at multiple dogs back to back and make other families wait for a decision to be made before they can even have a chance. We went to look at a certain dog but was told she was in isolation and wouldn’t be able to be seen. Only to hear an hour or so later that another family was given a chance to see her. We were able to see her but after we fell in love and wanted to adopt her we were told the other family finally decided and we’re taking her. Once you move past a dog, that dog should be fair for anyone to adopt if they fall in love with them. If there isn’t an $30 hold on the dog it should be fair game. Absolutely heartbreaking to see and play with a dog and fall in love and know she would be a perfect fit only for another family to take her. Even though we were there first we didn’t even have a chance.

I adopted a kitten here last year and had a fantastic experience, the staff were all very nice and helpful and I love my baby more than anything.

I can’t say enough good things about Wayside Waifs! I just adopted a kitty from there, and my experience was amazing. The staff and volunteers were so patient and knowledgeable, and they obviously really care about what they do. If anyone from the cat team is reading this, Kitty Boi says hi, and he’s very happy in his new home!?

Went there to adopt a kitten for my daughter, but couldn’t believe they wanted 150.00 dollars for a kitten very disappointed we called kc pet project and paid 75.00 and it was fixed and shots.don’t understand why? They charge so much for kittens we adopted 2 dogs from them in the past and paid less for our dogs. Just don’t understand when they get the animals for free why they charge so much for them to go to a loving home.

An extremely well run establishment. A great place to find your next family member or volunteer.

Wish I could give less starts. Staff lied and said if we were bringing of stray dogs in stread of foster dogs they could take them but that because we were bringing medical information and they were fosters it would be 8 weeks. We've been waiting 3 years and have already done the application process

A few months back I chose to volunteer here, which gave me a decent bit of anxiety because I know for a fact that most of these dogs could easily drag me at any point in time, but I have to say it is the best decision I could’ve made for myself. My parents question why I felt the need to volunteer, I own 9 pets myself and I have a really busy schedule, but something told me it would be worth it- and it definitely is. Since I’ve been volunteering here I’ve met great staff members, volunteers, and definitely a lot of sweet dogs that have left me to go to their new homes. And some- that are still here. We can’t always promise puppies or small dogs will be there, but I do say that if you truly are looking to find your best friend, searching here is a great start. You might end up with one, or ten… featuring my first friend that I met there (the dog)

Another animal shelter that dont wanna do anything but sit on there butss and get paid shame half of the reviews are just the owner making burner accounts to keep the reviews up they do not want to help.

I drove all the way from another state just to come to this place, before I went there I talked to the staff they told me twice that they indeed have small breed dogs. When I went to the building the staff at the front desk ignored me at first then had a horrible attitude and refuse to speak to me so I talked to other staff I kept getting ignored, one nice lady showed me to were the dogs were but non of them were small breeds, I was basically lied to, they said they had small breed dogs when they didn't, but one lady said " sorry we don't have small breed dogs we do have one but he's crazy" the staff there were very rude there was only one nice lady there, so I went home.

They lied to me about a dog I adopted there and they said he was aggressive and killed two of my pets and sorry doesn’t bring back my pets and I suggest you go somewhere else to get your pets somewhere that they know about the animals and them not guessing…

Honestly my experience there was just sad, my best friend moved and sadly couldn’t keep one of her 3 cats, I brought her in to wayside and apart from the front desk lady being extremely rude, they said I was going to have to take her home and call animal control and they would bring her into wayside, I knew that would be traumatizing for my best friends indoor kitty, and I was willing to pay any amount considering it is a nice facility, I could not bring her home because her and my dog do not get along, I don’t know if it’s just this shelter but People used to dump strays on my property in Texas all the time and even when I found pit bulls the local shelter was all for helping me help them, they don’t want to help pets, they just want to get rid of the ones they have, I ended up finding the kitty a home by myself, and after reading some of these reviews about adoption experiences there, I’m very glad they wouldn’t take her, I, as one person, felt like I was the only one with the pets best interest in heart, they really made me feel like I was in the wrong for trying to help out a helpless animal, I really hope when I donate At petco that when it goes “local” it doesn’t go to wayside. DO NOT TAKE ANY PET THAT YOUVE EVER HAD ANY LOVE FOR THERE, do your research and find something with less money and more heart, these animals are going through a lot having to be in the shelter alone and scared, and if the shelter doesn’t have the heart, they’re not getting the right care or making it to the right homes, they have not stopped me from feeling the need to help every stray I see but they have made me realize not every shelter is there to help. I will be searching for a different shelter, and I will spread the word when I find one that’s got the right morals, I’ve never been to such a sad shelter, it makes me miss Texas

To quickly get into it great staff, easy adoptions, and dogs comes with everything shots, fixed, info for vets, and microchipped. But to top it off our new puppy showed signs of kennel cough soon after taking her home and she spread it to our other dog. Google said they would get over it most vets don’t prescribe anything they just need lots of rest. The shelter gives you 10 days to notify them if something is wrong with the dog after that they are not liable. Of course our dogs health took a turn for the worst on day 11. I called the shelter and told them I know it’s day 11 so they can’t do anything but my vet can’t get me in quickly bc it’s 2: 00 on a Friday. And I don’t know if she’s gonna make the weekend without treatment. They told me to bring her in ASAP they would fit her in (I fully expected a huge bill). They treated her, sent us home with meds, eye drops, and several cans of wet dog food to help her eat/gain weight……. For free! Best customer service ever I was definitely expecting a we don’t care she’s your problem now. I’m so happy with my overall experience at wayside waifs.

Wayside Waifs was AMAZING at helping us find our Oliver! Jake and Kara (maybe that's her name) answered every question and made the adoption process so easy! Everyone there was awesome!
