I am not one who normally leaves reviews but this issue was so far beyond acceptable I felt I had to come forward. I called WGAH only because of their "emergency/urgent care" when my vet could not get us in until our scheduled appointment in 5 days. My husky had already been diagnosed with one torn ACL and we were hoping to make it to his next appointment before anything else happened. Unfortunately he was not able to walk Wednesday night and we knew he was in a tremendous amount of pain. I was able to get a same day appointment, great I thought. They took us in a room shortly after the scheduled appointment. The tech was great took all his vitals and said the vet would be in shortly. After 30-45 min the vet, DR Roth finally came in. She did not introduce herself. I had to find her name on the website. After a short discussion of what could be done we decided the humane thing to do was to put him down. The odds of a 100 lb husky coming back from 2 torn ACL's or finding a vet willing to do the surgery were slim. Between making the decision at 7 it took OVER 2 HOURS FOR THE PROCEDURE TO BE COMPLETED! The "coordinator" who was very nice, came in to do the paperwork but it seemed to take forever. The techs did not get the message I planned on staying with him and can with a cart to take him away. When I stopped them it took more time for them to get the necessary equipment. The techs, while also very nice and compassionate had issues getting a catheter in. My question is why was a catheter necessary. I have had pets put down before and have never had a catheter. Once they finally got it in it evidently came out and was causing more pain. Dr. Roth decided he needed a sedative. She had the tech administer the sedative which seemed to truly surprise the tech. "We will be back in 10 min" 30 min later after he was coming out of the sedative and yelping in pain my boyfriend went to find someone to help. Meanwhile I am hysterical as it should not be like this. The techs and the vet finally came in to administer the meds but it was not the vet who gave the meds. Per my BF who was watching the whole thing Dr. Roth gave the syringe to the tech.is that even legal?

I am still traumatized over this and will NEVER be going back there again. I do plan on contacting them to discuss my displeasure with the efficiency of their process.

As a Registered Nurse with Critical Care experience I cannot stress this point more, Do not take your animal to this place. Placed my dog in “critical care” at this “hospital” when they can’t get labs results 24 hours after he was admitted. They will charge you for critical care when critical care send out labs take over 24 hours to result. I called to get the lab results 24 hours after he was admitted and the tech told me since the admitting vet had gone home, I wasn’t able to get the results. I requested to talk to a vet. The Vet got on the phone to tell me the labs had not resulted and I refused an ultrasound when it wasn’t ever offered. My dog was admitted around 9pm. All charting given to me (I requested all charting) didn’t start until 1am the morning after he was admitted. When I asked admitting vet, “I was writing it down on a post-it note. ” Chart says “no void” for 14 hours at the same time his IV fluids ran for 500ml. No way my 22 pound dog didn’t urinate for 16 hours while on continuous fluids of 25 ml/hr then 35 ml/hr. Maybe it’s too much to expect the same standard of care for my pet that I do for humans but this place is lacking in many different areas. Never going here again. I hope I can find a place that can provide the minimum standard of care. Thanks for nothing. Lazy record keeping, stat labs take over 24 hours. No thanks. I will take my pets to a place that meets the standard of care, Webster Groves Animal hospital is not that place.

I have only ever had good, decent techs and vets when i have been to Webster Groves Animal Hospital. Most recently, i was there for a concern that i (luckily) saw coming, and so had an appiontment made.

The wait after checking in was about what you'd expect for a medical office. The waiting room is big, bright & clean, and was mostly quiet, but you have to take that with a grain of salt, because the patients are animals, and that will always vary.

Once my poor cat and i were in the exam room, Dr. Britt and her tech were wonderful and answered every nervous question i had with compassion and patience. They asked questions about my cat's lifestyle and offered suggestions for treatment that were informed by my answers, which saved me some money and my kit kat another needle poke The Boy is much perkier after a little TLC (and some antibiotics!) And i couldnt be more relieved or grateful. Thank you!

The clerical staff was also friendly and patient with me as I wrangled a funky payment situation, so the old reviews about terrible staff are exactly that-old.

This place functions as an emergency hospital, though, so just like a "people" ER, wait time will vary wildly and you're going to get bumped around based on how visibly bad your pet's situation is. I once bled sluggishly in an ER waiting for 3 hours, because it was a busy night. It is what it is.

TL;DR- If you're having a pet emergency, don't let older reviews turn you away from Webster Groves. They are good, clean, and efficient. They are conpassionate and patient. Go in and communicate (without yelling) your concerns; the folks there are there to help your pets, even in rough situations.

Be kind to your healthcare professionals, and they will be kind to you.
But rest assured, they'll be kind to your loved one either way.

Thank you, Webster Groves! We'll be back again!

~~~~~~~~~~
Edit as of July 18: Ralph is still doing great and the antibiotics cleared his sluggishness up within 3 days. His follow up appointment with Webster Groves was quick and positive, (we got pointed to his Rx food in *wet food* mini cans, which he officially food strikes for!)
Lil man was playing and grooming himself reliably from day 2 on to today, and is fully back to his charismatic self, haha.
Thank you again, W.groves staff. We love you and will be back
A lot of the staff is rude, they won’t take walk-ins unless your pet is in a horrible condition even though they’re supposedly urgent care, the prices are insanely high and down payments are ridiculous and they don’t offer any kind of payment plan. If you need to call and ask a question they won’t call you back for three or four days. Once my pet was actually admitted and considered to be sick enough the staff turned super nice, but had no empathy for a pet that was clearly in bad shape up until then.
Not like they use to be. No longer 24 hours and they don't take walk ins anymore. After waiting over 3 hours to see the vet, just for him to order expensive test that most vets would not have ordered until my pet was stabilized. Only came here because they were closer to vss. This will be my last visit.
Brought my dog in on a Sunday night at 9 pm because I accidentally got her quick when cutting her nails and it kept slightly dripping blood. Wouldn’t completely stop with home remedies. They were very nice and got her in and fixed up and we were out the door really quick!
I am posting a note of gratitude to head technician and supervisor Kate and to our brilliant and tireless Dr Bedow.
Today, while concerned about a decline in our Cat, Kate created a solution for us, not only answering our long term treatment concerns but also acknowledging every part of the little guys acute problems.
She listened attentively to the complex history, filled in details with chart review and quickly formed an action plan.
Dr Bedow, who had been working with us for over a month on our treatment plan, replied back quickly even while on his vacation. I am really sorry to have disturbed Dr Bedow as he is so kind and patient. I am very grateful for the kindness and professionalism that went far beyond my expectations. Thank you!
Intake staff never informed us we needed a new chart & info all filled out & this was challenging to complete w our 45# puppy tugging to leave. Dr. Germany and tech were but "Checkout". We waited 35 minutes just to get an employee to take our money!
We took our cat Jeet in after he ate a toxic leaf from a houseplant. Dr Britt spent so much time explaining the options of care and made our cat Jeet very comfortable during the exam. They got us in and out and the cost was very reasonable for an emergency visit. Thank you!
The wait time is at least an hour after your appointment. Then an hour to be seen once in the back. Then 45 minutes to be discharged. The vet wouldn't properly look at my 13 year old cat's leg he's been limping on because him and his technician refused to let me hold him to keep him calm. Claimed he had to be sedated even though he was basically still while being 'examined'. They also charge $55 deposit to be seen then charge $100 for the appointment/meds. Literally a waste of time and money. No resolution at the end. I've never had an experience like this at a vet before so I just feel others should know.
Paws down, Dr. Britt at Webster Veterinary Clinic is the best vet around! She's the cat's meow when it comes to diagnosing and treating my furry friends. Dr. Britt is knowledgeable, caring, and always takes the time to listen to any concerns I have. She's a real life-saver!
The clinic is spotless and the staff is fur-real - they're friendly and always happy to help. I'm paws-itively thrilled with the exceptional care my pets have received at Webster Veterinary Clinic. I would definitely recommend Dr. Britt and her team to any pet owner. They're the top dog in my book!
Very professional and friendly staff, and a very clean and tidy facility. All the staff, including the veterinarian, were helpful, kind, and took the time to explain everything and answer all questions. Highly recommend!
This used to be an emergency place for pets. Now it's by appointment, even though there's an antiquated "Urgent Care" sign painted on a wall as you walk in. There was a wait of course, so they referred me to a place called Animal Emergency Clinic, which referred me another clinic. Also, that second place was definitley not a walk-in place because the door was locked, had to knock loudly, and the receptionist wasn't at all nice. I ended up going to Wildwood to get an urgent care appointment. There's definitely a void to fill for emergency pet care in this city!
Should I preface this by saying a positive? They were able to get my sick dog in quickly when our regular vet couldn't. I was very hopeful as this was close to my house and had great hours. My dog needed to be admitted to the ICU, the vet and myself decided on a treatment plan. I was then given an estimate per that treatment plan. The total was going to be roughly $1100. When my dog had improved (per them) I went to pick her up and they told me my total was over $1400, without an explanation as to why the change. Eventually they said it was for another day stay there and when I questioned it saying what the vet and I had agreed to prior they got extremely rude and condescending to me. When the tech (an elderly lady) walked my dog out to me she asked what I do for work. I replied, I'm a nurse. To which she replied, "if you have a patient that stays an extra day don't expect to get paid for another days cares (she was very loud and accusatory) ? ! " I don't mind paying for and expect to pay for what is needed but feel they scammed me in that she received what was agreed upon and was charged almost 30% more. Not chump change. Needless to say I will not be returning and my dog is still coughing/vomiting and lethargic which is why she was admitted in the first place.
I got there 1 hour prior to closing with a small emergency with my dog. Despite having other patients in front of me that would take that hour, they told me to stay and they would get me in. The Dr.took care of my pup and no one complained or was mad that they had to stay open a little later. Everyone there was great and the price was fair for the situation.
Too covid scared! Pay huge price before getting in the door. Mask up and follow their instructions or go somewhere else. Seems like this place as well as the Macklin humane society all went downhill during and after covid. What a shame they used to be excellent places for pets
