Whitehall Apartments, Sappington MO

My wife and I moved to Whitehall Apartments in May 2022, expecting a positive experience. However, mold issues impacted our health, leading us to share our story as a precaution for potential residents.

During the winter of 2022, I battled recurrent respiratory issues, followed by my wife in Feb 2023. Despite numerous tests, no cause was identified, and we missed work due to illness.

Returning from vacation in June, we fell ill again, prompting us to inspect our unit closely. Visible mold in our shower raised concerns. Management's response involved sending a worker to bleach the shower, ignoring our suspicions of deeper mold.

To address our concerns, we hired professionals for mold testing. Aspergillus-Penicillium mold was confirmed in the shower and HVAC system, posing health risks. These symptoms matched those associated with mold exposure.

Deciding to leave, we sought legal advice due to the unit's uninhabitable state. Whitehall Apartments denied our evidence, disregarding our lab report and lawyer's letter. Our move-out decision was influenced by health concerns, despite potential penalties.

Whitehall Apartments dismissed our claims, even when presented with evidence. They didn't inspect the mold or address our concerns. Further documentation from the mold test company went unanswered.

Sara, the property manager, was still a great help to us throughout our entire time there. She definitely does her job well.

Additional notes about the place:
1. Building 11468 reeked of smoke/weed, affecting clothing and fabric.
2. Maintenance lacked communication and left unresolved requests.

We caution potential renters, especially in apartment 201, building 11468. Ensure proper mold measures are taken before moving in, as health issues developed over time.

The property manager sara is amazing! Super nice, helpful and kind. Neighbors are quiet. Love that you have your own designated parking spot.
