Great Northern Cycle & Ski, Whitefish MT

First set foot in the shop a couple years ago as someone who knew absolutely nothing about skiing but wanted to learn. Had a couple fellas get me dialed in with the perfect set-up for my intended uses, including talking me into a boot that I didn't think I needed/wanted, but in hindsight is basically the best boot recommendation that could have been made (Dynafit Radical Pro). Since that first season my wife and I have scooped 3 more pairs of skis at the shop and always look forward to swinging by and checking out their new line-ups. All the employees are super knowledgeable and friendly and the gear selection is top-shelf. We're thankful for an awesome small biz like Great Northern here in the Flathead.

Bike and Ski shops can be pretty intimidating. Not only are there lots of lingo that can be overwhelming but sometimes the "bro" factor of a shop can be off-putting. One step into Great Northern should put your anxiety to rest. The staff is welcoming, patient and friendly. They are willing to explain gear and lingo to you and will answer seemingly unlimited questions. Nice stuff is expensive but you won't feel pressured to buy. I've stopped by to look at things over the course of weeks and never felt pressured, allowing me to mull it over till I was ready to buy. I can't say enough good things about this shop and the people who work there.

Recently stopped in to get a spoke replaced. I'm from outta town and wanted to be up and rolling again asap. Service team was friendly and welcoming. They told me exactly what I would expect to pay for the job and gave me a reasonable time line of that day or at the latest the next day. I was able to also adjust the Communication to email rather than phone. Low and behold an email not 3 hours later that it was ready for pick up. Thanks for getting me back and rolling again. Just wished I grapped a sticker on the way out.

I had some mechanical issues on the build up to the Last Best Ride. The folks at the shop took care of me quickly and at a reasonable price. Had new chain thrown on and a derailleur adjustment done within an hour and was able to jump in on a pre-race ride I did not think I would be able to participate in. Huge shoutout to the bike shop for making my time in Whitefish even more awesome.

Great bike store with solid assortment for all things mountain biking. Certainly a quality gear lovers paradise with tasty coffee and very helpful staff.
10/10 recommend!

The best service and shop in town! The mechanics are the best I’ve met and they dropped everything to help me when I was having trouble with the bike while cycling across the county. I can’t recommend them enough!

Greatest experience at a ski shop ever! I had no appointment and the owner jumped in and took care of my aching feet in ski boots. He fit me with a new pair that were molded to my feet and gave me advice on the skis I was using…. Him and his wife are absolute gems and very caring about getting you comfortable and back on the slopes…. More than a 5 star rating! Your missing out if you go anywhere else!

From the vibe (coffee, water, beer, dogs, great gear) to the people (knowledgeable, efficient, honest), this is a great operation. Came in for boot fitting for tough feet and left within an hour. Boots are PERFECT and I appreciated having options (though boot one was the magic slipper). Will find more reasons to be back.

Really nice folks here, really nice ambiance, like stepping into a ski shop from the 80's but with all the modern amenities.

Tom was super helpful with altering my new boots so they are fitting so much much better and also was a wealth of information on boot fit and skis in general.
