Hardscrabble Ranch, Bozeman MT

My son’s high school ski team had the pleasure of staying at Hardscrabble Ranch while training at Bridger Bowl Ski Mountain the first week of January. The parents had the pleasure of delicious home cooked meals in the evening with the boys. The owner Peter and his staff are fantastic, genuinely nice people who are first class hosts. The common spaces and dining areas are clean, modern and perfect for big groups to spend time and socialize. The ranch is on a gorgeous piece of property with easy access to Bridger Bowl and a surprisingly easy drive to Bozeman.

We rented the Hardscrabble Ranch in early October to host a small wedding event (33 people) for our daughter. Leading up to the trip, we kept in close contact with "Chris" who helped us coordinate our stay and provided recommendations for wedding vendors. When the group arrived, Chris was there to greet us and make sure that everything was as expected! The Ranch is in a very quiet and dark area north of Bozeman, has amazing views, and has everything you need to house any size group and hold a wedding. The entire party was very comfortable with their rooms and accommodations and enjoyed the outdoor activities (hiking, cornhole, BBQ) the Ranch provided. The wedding went off fairly smoothly (mostly because of Chris' help) and everyone enjoyed their stay at the Hardscrabble! We look forward to staying here again during a future trip to Montana!

What a spectacular venue for our event-from our interaction with incredibly helpful staff to the beautiful location to the wonderful accommodations themselves, Hardscrabble Ranch is top notch! We couldn't have asked for a better set up for our leadership retreat and we highly recommend it for your next event.

Hardscrabble Ranch was the perfect location for our dear son and his beautiful bride to have their Montana destination wedding. The outdoor venue was everything they dreamed it would be and more. Having the guests stay on site in the lodges and glamping tents made it feel like our. Everyone raved about the beauty of the location and enjoyed sharing meals, time around the fire pit, hiking the trails, visiting the animals, and, of course, playing corn hole. Chris & David were there to lend a helping hand every step of the way which was very much appreciated. Great vendors make a great wedding and we were thrilled with the recommended vendors. A stunning sunset during the rehearsal dinner, clear views of Ross Peak during the ceremony and dancing the night away in the large barn made for an unforgettable weekend. We cannot recommend Hardscrabble Ranch enough!

My Colorado family and my Washington family all gathered here for 3 days! 21 of us including children. The cabins and shared space were huge, lots of board games and outdoor games, beautiful scenery, farm animals, creek, stargazing! Memories for a lifetime!

Was the greatest vacation spot we have found. Beautiful Montana, creek on property. Great service caretakers are around daily so if you need anything. Couldn't ask for anything better.

Held a team retreat and leadership meeting at Hardscrabble and it was over the top amazing. Chris and the entire HR team are extremely easy to work with and incredible hosts. The location is beyond beautiful, the accommodation is fantastic, the meeting space was perfect and all of the recommended caterers and activities were top shelf. Cannot recommend Hardscrabble enough - team retreat, board meeting, family reunion, wedding, social event, etc. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Hardscrabble Ranch (HR) was the perfect place for our wedding! We were able to check in Friday afternoon and have a rehearsal dinner and check out Sunday morning. HR had amble space to accomodate rooms for family and provide entertainment for down time (lots of board games, table tennis, miniature indoor basketball hoop, and a bull horn toss game) and plenty of kitchen space for prepping and making dinner for all 105 guests. Kris the owner, Chris the events manager, and HR staff provided superb service from providing us salad dressing during the rehearsal dinner, which we forgot, to making sure my wedding day ran smoothly and seamlessly. The property is beautiful and provides walking trails and endless opportunities for picture perfect, candid moments. HR also has glamping tents available for rent and provided a honeymoon tent the night of our wedding. There is a creek that runs right by the glamping tents so you get to fall asleep to the sound of water. Also, I was not sure what to do for an events coordinator and Chris was available to provide those services as a Events Manager Concierge and made my wedding day stress free, as well as providing a calm, helpful, and accommodating demeanor. I still get compliments from friends and family that attended commenting on the beauty and perfection of HR. I only have two minor complaints: 1) the bed I stayed in the first night in one of the lodges was uncomfortable, but the bed in the glamping tent I stayed in the next night was comfortable and 2) HR has a noise restriction after 10pm to accomodate other people living in the area, so music and dancing ends by that time. Thank you HR for making my wedding so enjoyable and memorable!

We hosted my son’s wedding at this amazing place, off their beaten path, gorgeous views and very nice and helpful staff, even the owner pitched in when we were preparing dinner. I would highly recommend this venue. Chris Heinle helped plan the special day as well as organize, clean and also provided great DJ services. We could not be happier with our overall experience.

Our family stayed here during my brothers wedding last weekend and everything was amazing. The location is beautiful but the most outstanding part was the service! The owners and managers were incredibly helpful, generous, and kind. I forgot to make vinaigrette dressing for the night before and the owner let me use her condiments, and made me feel at home. The managers were there to help through the whole wedding and took care of things they didn’t even have to. They really made our family feel spoiled and relaxed. I also left my nice toiletries there and the owner came through again and saved them for me and even took the time to meet up with me to return them so I didn’t have to drive out to the ranch.
The area is gorgeous. The flowers and patio area were so beautiful and well kept. The smoker made delicious meat. Huge kitchen space. This was a very special place for a family reunion and wedding.
It would also be a perfect place to stay further winter with a large family and skiing! Thank you to Chris and Kris especially!

We had our annual guys fishing trip to Montana and stayed at the Hard Scrabble Ranch. I was blown away by the hospitality of the staff. When we arrived, they greeted us and treated us like family. Definitely felt like home. Our rooms were very clean and comfy. The lodge was a great place to socialize and eat. The food…oh my! Some of the best food I’ve have eaten and was amazed at the staff and the food preparation and presentation. We are already planning our return trip.

Location, Location, Location

We had the privilege of staying here on a guys group fishing trip reunion. The views from the Ranch are absolutely stunning and the accommodations were all well appointed and cozy.

The Ranch is situated just outside of Bozeman and is a perfect location to launch to so many wonderful activities in the area. The Ranch has wonderful outside spaces to cook, relax and take in the breathtaking views of the mountains. The owners this property were kind and helpful, which made our stay that much more special.if you are looking to entertain a large group for any event and want the perfect location to experience the beauty of Montana, then look no further.

What an amazing place and wonderful people. The service, the hospitality, the views, the rooms, all just incredible. Our guy’s fishing trip was made that much more special with our stay at the Hardscrabble Ranch. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Our group stayed at Hardscrabble after fishing the Missouri River in Craig, MO for (2) days. It was a beautiful and easy drive to Hardscrabble from our fishing lodge. Hardscrabble had it all, amazing views, outstanding accommodations, a great fire pit area and overall perfect destination. Our group will be back!

We recently stayed there during a reunion fishing trip. We fished for two days nearby and then headed to the ranch. What a beautiful spot! Everything was wonderful, from the hosts to the amenities to the food. I could not recommend the place more. I will be back with a larger group next time.

We could not have hoped for a better experience at Hardscrabble Ranch. The venue is just far enough out of town to where guests can stay in Bozeman, but the venue itself is quiet and full of beautiful scenery. I think our favorite part of our experience was the lodge where our families stayed for the weekend to minimize travel and spend some quality time together. This also allowed for low stress set up and tear down, and so many fun memories with family and friends. Their staff is extremely helpful and attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure our whole weekend went smoothly. We would highly recommend working with this amazing team and enjoying their beautiful space!
