Lonesomehurst Campground reviews
7 We used this as a base to go to Yellowstone NP. All the campgrounds closer are much more expensive.
This one is 15 minutes from the West entrance.
The location is superb, right on the lakeshore and on the edge of the forest. So quiet and beautiful.
The pitches are huge. A few have electric hookup. Some are lakeside.
There's a boat launch and there are canoes for hire during the season.
We were there right at the end of the season - the week it closed - so the nights were very cold, below freezing. Altitude is 7000ft. Days were lovely and sunny.
The camp hosts were a really friendly, helpful couple who enjoy what they do.
The pit toilets were spotlessly clean and had a lovely air freshener smell.
Highly recommended.
This campground had been updated since the last time I had been here. The CXT restrooms were THE CLEANEST CXTs I have ever been in, and smelled like lime. The campsites were meticulous, you could tell someone went by every table and fire pit to clean around and rake the gravel/sand in the area. Very reasonably priced for the area, best views around! Also this is one of the closest campgrounds to town, only 10-15 minutes away from West Yellowstone to grab groceries or hit up a restaurant (I recommend Wild West, or Taquería Malverde)
Unlike other lakes, the water doesn't go down too far on Hebgen so the launch ramp is usually accessible through the entire season.
Awesomely remote, no light pollution, extremely clean restrooms and friendly camp host
Great, clean, quiet and remote campground. Spent 2 nights there with 2 tents on one site. Great to watch stars while having a beer next to your fire pit
Important: no utility sinks, showers or bathrooms (except for toilets) available.
Beautiful place but no water connection and dump station. You know this in advance, but then it will certainly be 5 stars. Plus not as crazy expensive as the rest around Yellowstone. 20 minutes drive from the West entrance. Enter the park around 6am. From 8am we were stuck in traffic for 3 hours.
Quiet place. Beautiful lake. Nice boat launch. Electric. T-Mobile and Xfinity LTE cell service. About 5 OTA TV channels.
Oh my goodness…we so enjoyed our stay here as we explored Yellowstone NP. It’s a bit rugged, and only about 10-15 mins from the town of West Yellowstone and west Yellowstone NP entrance. To us it was the perfect location. We only had electric. There are no water or sewer at the sites, but there are several water spickets and restrooms throughout the park. The lake views are beautiful and there are lake view sites. The only thing is they don’t have electric. If that’s a concern try getting a site across the street so you can have electric and a partial view. The Camp Hostess was kind and helpful. The dump we used was in West Yellowstone at Grizzly RV Park with a $20 fee. If you don’t mind not having all the amenities you will enjoy your stay. Visiting Yellowstone and Teton NPs was so wonderful and definitely a blessing to say the least; your visit here will have unforgettable memories. Enjoy!
