One of the best hikes in the mountains here. It’s not insanely steep like all the out of shape people keep saying. Once you make it to the lake it’s such a great view. Great camping spots all around as well. Great first segment of the granite peak hike as well.

Very steep trail and the boulder field is quite intense but worth absolutely everything! I went camping up there the last 2 days and it was so gorgeous! The weather is a little random but nothing that effected it to crazy! Wildlife up there is so cool and the trail itself is stunning. Has a railroad that you go over and can continuously see through the trail and personally I thought it was the coolest! Definitely need to be incredibly careful on this trail at places but it’s not overtly hard! I think everyone should make the hike at least once in their life! The water was so clear!

Beautiful & challenging hike! Probably tough for a beginner.

This hike takes you through a lot of trees & over the West Rosebud creek a few times - the path goes from winding through trees to rocky, back to trees - its pretty much uphill the whole way there (and therefore downhill on the way back!)

It'll take a couple hours one-way, so come prepared! Plenty of water & some food are a good idea.

Don't forget sunscreen & tick spray - wildlife in the area means ticks too

Speaking of wildlife - we saw an elk and a number of deer, lots of birds, but nothing exotic this time. I've heard you can find Moose & Bighorn Sheep but we didn't see them this trip - hopefully next time!
