Asian Restaurant Shan reviews
19Made a reservation and our table was ready when we arrived. Our host was friendly. Music was chill and at a good volume. Ambiance was lovely, it was very welcoming. We had Jesse as our server and he had an amazing knowledge of both the food and drink menu. Our food was incredible (see photos). Portion size was perfect and the New Hokkaido Daruma beer paired perfectly with the food. Love that they serve local beer (from Little Belt Cattle Co). Thank you for having such an incredible restaurant in Bozeman. If you haven’t tried this restaurant before, I highly recommend you try it.
Pricing is left a mystery as entrees are “family style. ” Order 3-5 $25-30 dishes for 2 people.
I would recommend Pakeezah instead.
Coming here keeps you thinking of going back. The hearty dishes, flavorfully prepared fit right into Bozeman’s wintry climate. A rare gem from start to finish; and we found the cut that lingers on forever. A bison ribeye from a farm
in the vicinity.
Great atmosphere and service and food that isn’t just levels above anything else in Bozeman, but some of the best meals I have ever had. So, so good
Must visit place for Asian food in Bozeman. The flavors are simple but delicious. I love spicy food and I use the chilli oil that they keep on the tables on pretty much everything I get there. Been there twice and had a great experience both times. Service is very friendly too.
A lot of flavor packed into a small location. The small venue makes it awkward for this type of service and the plating on the Larb was clunky but other than those small notes I couldn't complain about the service or pricing.
The food here was bland at best. They are masking the lack of flavor with chili peppers, cilantro and lime juice. The oolong tea was not great either. The meat in the Lamb Massaman Curry was dry. The noodles in the Lanzhou beef noodles were uncooked and the meat in the soup was very dry and not flavorful. The duck was just lemongrass and no other flavors. The Dan Dan Noodles were bland but pretty good compared to everything else.
Not to mention, the music was obscenely loud to where myself, and younger members of my party could not hear the hostess or server.
This is everything I want when I go out, the service was on point. The vibe is super laid back, cozy and fresh. I love sitting at the counter and watching the kitchen. The food is AMAZING…. I will try every dish eventually and can’t wait to go back!
Once again, absolutely amazed at this place! Shan has quickly become our favorite night out spot in Bozeman and it never disappoints. Our favorites are the Tamarind ribs, lamb dumplings (if you can get there in time!), Lamb massaman curry, and pandan cake. Leaving this review tonight as we went in for a birthday and the staff was especially amazing and the food was too. I wish I could remember our servers name- she was tall with glasses and absolutely amazing! The host was great too. Such great attention to detail and yummy food. Great wine selection as well! Thanks Shan, we’ll be back again!
This place exceeded my expectations and I had already been warned that it was going to be very good.
The Sticky Ribs were well seasoned and flavorful, DELICIOUS. We also had the Lamb Dumplings. They were well steamed and the fresh Cilantro added a freshness to the dish. Highly recommend
these Dumplings. Lastly, we had the sliced beef special that was roasted to perfection. The Owners were friendly and attentive. We felt welcomed and appreciated. Jordan and the rest of the staff worked hard to provide great service.up on this Eatery!
My new favorite restaurant in Bozeman - by far. The service is great. They are knowledgeable, engaging, professional, and don't appear stressed even when the restaurant is full and bustling. The atmosphere was also great - the room feels spacious and open, and the music choice is very fun. And now, for the food. We had the chicken wings, lamb dumplings, lamb skewers, and lanzhou beef noodles, and they were all fantastic. Spicy, sour, sweet, funky, vinegary, every flavor imaginable was perfectly combined. The chicken wings and lamb skewers were juicy, but not too oily at all, and the dumpings were simply to die for. We will definitely be coming back, maybe even tomorrow! There is simply no match for Chinese food in Bozeman, and next time I'll have to go for the Thai food.
SO GOOD! The space, the staff, and every menu item we ordered were cozy, inviting, and deeply satisfying. Everything was put together by people who care. I can't wait to come back and try more amazing food!
The food here is delicious. The restaurant is smaller and more intimate feeling with a central busy kitchen where you can see food being prepared if you sit at the bar area. I went alone and was able to find a seat very quickly, but if you have a large group, definitely make reservations. Great place to order a bunch of dishes and share. I can't wait to return and try more things.
Been there a few times. Food is consistently excellent and we’ve always had good service. The restaurant is small and cute. That chef is doing the lawrd’s work
We were able to get a table because someone didn't show up for their reservation! Truely our lucky day! So pleasantly surprised! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the food and the service! Jarrett Waisley, the chef knows how to make delicious, Asian food! Everything we ordered was delicious and reminded me of the food I had when when I travelled to Chendu, China, and when I lived in Thailand for a year! We ordered bison larb, Dan dan noodle, earth's 3 treasures. Make your reservation, show up be ready to enjoy the best, tasting Asian food!
Ordered a to go meal (lamb skewers). Some of the lamb were burnt so bad. Tasted bitter. Given the price of this meal ($20) this quality makes me really disappointed.
The fact that a restaurant has brought Khao Soi to Bozeman automatically deserves 5 stars. It tastes slightly different than in Thailand, but to be expected and amazing nonetheless. It still has the crunchy and cooked noodles, the sweet and spiced coconut curry sauce and I love the added pickles! Yum! Service has always been excellent and everything I’ve tried has been delicious. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Bozeman.
Just back from Shan and I'm no stranger to SE Asian and Thai cuisine having lived in Malaysia six years.
I like the food here, leans towards as authentic as one can get in Bozeman. My first visit everything was delicious. HOWEVER, visit #2 was a different story.
My girlfriend & intended to have two starters and two entrees when we arrived. We began with with bison larb and chicken wings. Here's where things went off the rails.
The larb was so heavily spiced with numbing, spicy, Schezuen peppercorns that we lost our ability to taste/enjoy the chicken wings. I know & cook with those peppercorns and the dosage on our plate was WAY over board. WAY. So much so that we didn't enjoy, nor finish, the wings AND skipped ordering a main dish or two.
It was a special celebratory dinner so we left disappointed and still hungry. The owner/head chef needs to check the preparation of their larb dish and its execution.
We'll give this place a "re-do" and update everyone on our next experience. Fingers crossed.
