Older cabins which have many deferred maintenance items both inside as well as outside the units. A F & B manager said the FO manager would contact us regarding the issues w/ our cabin but instead a staff member did who didn't seem to be very well trained about the property and had limited guest service skills. When told the connecting door to other side of cabin didn't lock, she said "that didn't matter as they only rent those cabins to family groups", which was totally incorrect as we had at least 3 different groups next door during our stay. She seemed annoyed that she had to listen to anything and refused to send anyone over to correct items as "it is an occupied unit. " Toilet seat almost off, front door difficult to open resulting in pinched fingers if you didn't use only the right side of knob to open and screen door hydrologic closure so old it slams door shut each time. Small frig froze food items, stools for the desk were very wabbly with one so bad it was a hazard to use. Obviously units aren't inspected nor does it seem housekeeping is reporting issues.

I get it, the desk clerk is a young woman and that she is in therapy, however, she needs to learn that when a customer is questioning the reservation upon check-in, its NOT all about her but all about the customer and pleasing that customer. She needs to learn customer service and how to de-escalate instead of escalating an issue. So I had to take 2 stars off for service and 1 for the overall review. Check-in was definitely not a good experience and did taint the stay. I suggest management teach her and possibly even mentor her for awhile. The room was clean, quiet and lovely. Slept great. The restaurant there had delicious food (recommend the rib eye with the cowboy butter!) and also had great service.

One of the few food establishments around where you can still sit down and trade a $20 bill for a decent burger. My burger was a bit over cooked but fries were great. They seemed a bit short handed but service was still friendly. Its my usual spot to watch football during the season.

Rooms are clean but older and in need of repairs/updates. Service and food in the bar/restaurant is excellent. Keep your expectations low for quality and service on the lodging part and you'll have a nice stay.

It’s okay. Very old and stained and moldy. I asked why they charge “taxes” when there’s no sales tax in Montana and the front desk didn’t know. I booked online and it was $152 plus $13 in taxes. So clearly fraud or extra way for them to make some cash. Not many options in the area.

This is a review for the Canary. The bartender with the blonde streak in her hair is the 2nd rudest bartender in town. If you want local business and local tips, maybe try being just a little friendly. Very disappointing. Won’t be back.

We just stopped by for lunch and it was wonderful! The best burger I have had in a long time. The service/ server was very nice and helpful. Definitely will be back the next time we are passing through.

Dinner at the restaurant was good. Great environment for grabbing dinner after a day exploring.

We stopped here on the way back from Virginia City. We had a group of 9 and were starving, so we decided to stop for a bite to eat. They had seating for us right away, which was a bonus. We were there for 2+ hours waiting for food and our check. It seemed like the server forgot about us, I don't know if it's because we were put into the corner but she came back once to check on us and we had to run her down for our check so we could leave. Half of the tables food was gross and didn't eat it, maybe it was an off day, but we don't live in town so I don't know if we will return.

Highly disappointed with the 4th of July BBQ. We paid $22 a plate for warm potato salad and rubber chicken! Total rip off.

The place was right next to our hotel (Red Bear). We ordered the prime rib to split between my wife and myself. It was done to perfection and plenty big for both of us. Service was great.

Rooms: Rustic feel, outdated, but relatively clean. Now for the downside. Fridge froze just about everything. I'm talking thawed left over hamburger froze solid as well as a half-gallon of milk. The salad.goner! Satellite TV didn't work. Someone from the front desk came by, but had not a clue what to do. Went to the front desk later to mention the problem again as nobody stopped by and was told the manager would stop by the room. Nope, never showed. I indicated if they couldn't fix the problem, I'd like an adjustment on the bill. Was advised the manager would contact me. Nope again. Never heard from the manager. At checkout, (around 9AM) the following day, I wanted to discuss the issue and went to the front desk - CLOSED until 11AM. Final thing. The bed frame doesn't fit the bed. The foot rail sticks out about 4 to 5 inches outside the mattress. I discovered this the next morning when my left foot collided with the metal rail. Had I not had my boots on, there is no question there would have been an URGENT CARE visit instantly. Having been a former owner/operator of a hotel here in Montana, I'm truly disappointed in the how this property is operated. Clearly, the owner is not present or if so, needs some remedial training in hospitality management.

We did not stay in the lodge. We had a fantastic dinner in the bar! Callie and another staff person were very efficient and helpful and kind. We had 11 people in our group, including 4 children and Callie and helper were fantastic.

Normally don’t write reviews because I get it accidents happen but this is getting so ridiculous we ordered 2 burgers with fries and a ceasar salad. Both were completely raw and one order was missing the French fries and if I was being extra picky the ceasar salad use to come as a bigger salad not a small side one that’s $12 and then French fries were dry with no salt. $40 dollars out the window on a meal that we couldn’t even eat and because we don’t live in ennis we didnt know until we got home and it was to late to get anything anywhere else or a store.

A super charming place! All the rooms are little log cabins. They felt roomy, were very clean and comfortable. There was a microwave and mini fridge in our room and we had an adjoining door to the room next to us, which was fun. Our rooms had just recently been remodeled and were lovely! They had a sign saying that they are working on remodeling all the rooms over time.

Orderd the Ribeye steak because they had run out of the primerib special. They neglected to inform me that they smothered it in their Cowboy butter, which when described to my wife ordering the Salmon as Mildly Spicy, (note to here credit she asked for it to come on the side. I wish I Had) their idea of mild is more like my idea of defensive BEAR SPRAY. WOW I couldn't even taste the beef under the cowboy butter. Really hate to waste a meal especially steak. Figured I could eat around the heaviest part, I'm just not that tough should have sent it back. Not a pleasant dinner or experience.
