If you want something less Corporate and more fun this historical hotel is the place! Everything creeks and groans like 110 year old buildings should! Pics dont do it justice.and it's down the street from the west entrance!

Clean and cozy. Has a gift shop for souvenirs n basic otc meds. Cafe next to the lodge has yummy breakfast, lunch and dinner options. All in all was a decent stay.

More than expected. Quite, quaint and cozy. Staff is friendly and helpful. Room was super clean with all we needed. Beds are comfortable and I slept very well. I highly recommend staying here. Better then a big chain motel/hotel. Feels like home. I'll come back. STAY HERE!

A fun hotel, great staff, awesome rooms. Highly recommended!
(I still think you need to put in a fireman's pole from the second floor to the gift shop, but that's just me being weird) :)

Staff were super nice and friendly. The historic hotel is really cool and has a nice gift shop. We stayed in the motel, and the room was a little run down but clean. Would stay there again.

Yeah, basically a cheap motel with less than average rooms that they charge an arm and a leg for. You can do better elsewhere.

We decided to spend the night in West Yellowstone after all day in the park and didn't feel up to driving back to Bozeman. Called and had a room in minutes. Very clean and quite. Staff was very friendly and Ryan acted more like someone you would find at a Marriott or Ritz.
Price was very reasonable (for that time of year) and couldn't have enjoyed it more and that is saying a lot coming from someone who has spent 150-200 nights a year in a hotel for the last 28 years!

This hotel has a lot of history to it as it was built 110 years ago, so don’t expect this to be the Marriott. We stayed in a 1 queen room and was plenty of room for 2. Very cool to stay in a place like this. Owner’s and staff were all very helpful and genuinely nice people. Next time we come back to West Yellowstone, we will be staying here again. Thanks for the hospitality! Also, the complimentary hot chocolate was great!

The room was clean and the service at the front desk was excellent. The owner even dropped me back to the airport on the day of my flight free of charge. Definitely recommend. Just one small note- when booking try to get the rooms that don't face Dunraven street, you get better privacy then, if that is something of importance. Also call them direct for the best price.

Our stay here was disappointing, the place does not live up to the name or it’s history.
Firstly the motel side is tiny and charmless - the manager blamed this on the building codes 100 years ago but I think they may be confused as the motel seems like it was built (and last renovated in the 70s).
Several services seemed to be halted due to what the manager was calling a “staff shortage” but while we were there we saw a lot of members of staff standing around aimlessly and talking - it seems more like mismanagement than a shortage.
Lastly the manager was very unwelcoming with us and the classic Karen-type - when we checked in we had to sign a document that was poorly written and frequently in ALL CAPS about how any damage to their cheap towels would be charged etc. She was quite rude to us and several other guests while we were checking in

Edit: I think the response to this revision review perfectly sums up the issues that have. Rather than taking some responsibility for their hotel and it’s management they seem to have taken some time to write a response and read (or rather misread my other reviews)

We stayed at The Historic Madison Hotel, Motel, and Hostel for a week during our trip to Yellowstone and Great Teton. Although we were amazed by the scenic national parks, the accommodation we stayed at is definitely surprisingly amazing.

This place is what I will truly call my second home. We very much enjoyed the decoration and atmosphere inside the lobby, plus the well-cleaned room where we stayed. However, the most important thing is people who work here really care about you. I can tell that from each interaction with them. To everyone at The Historic Madison Hotel, Motel and Hostel: Thank you all for your warm and welcoming hospitality!

If you are ever traveling to Yellowstone and decided to stay in West Yellowstone, please give this place a call and ask for Ms. Amazing!

This is the perfect base if you are exploring Yellowstone everyday. You can walk to pretty much everything in West Yellowstone from here. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a few nights in a private room with a bathroom. Our room was outside by parking spaces, so I liked that. The room itself was cozy and perfect for us to come back to after long days hiking and exploring. The room had a refrigerator and microwave, which was nice. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. The heat did not work well, so it got a bit chilly through the night. The hotel has a cute gift shop and you get a discount if you are staying in the hotel. We received discount vouchers for the restaurant next door. To me that was awesome! The hotel was a little pricey, but seemed cheaper than most places around there. I would stay there again.

We stayed at the Madison hotel at the end of August. We were in a newer room at the back of the hotel. It had been renovated and was really lovely. We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were lovely. At the back of the main hotel is a coffee/hot chocolate machine which was great on an early morning start to the park. Fridge and microwave is in the room and beds are comfortable. We would stay here again if we ever visited Yellowstone again.

Didn't stay at the hotel, but shopped at the gift shop. Great shop, best store in town. I was in need of an ancient camera cable (mini-USB). No shop in town sold them. Garrett at the Madison gift shop spent 15 minutes looking for one and finally found one in the business' cable stash. He lent it to me for the night and my 5-year-old was ecstatic that he could take pictures again. Great place, great people. The hotel looked very cool.

This is a quaint motel that is clean and in a convenient location. The room is on the small side but features comfortable beds, a microwave, a small fridge, and a TV. It also has free coffee, cappuccino, and hot chocolate with different flavors. The staff is friendly and helpful. The lobby is cozy, and it is also the shopping place. We also got a coupon worth $10 per guest for the next door Timberline café, and they serve pretty good food. Overall, we really like the Historic Madison Hotel motel, and we highly recommend it.

10/5 stars! This gift shop/ hotel / hostel is a mile outside of the West Yellowstone National Park entrance in a cute little town with plenty to browse. The Bear and Wolf exhibit is right down the street as well which was cool. The Madison is family owned and everyone was so accommodating and friendly. They even do smores in the lobby some nights! I stay in a 2 twin bed hostel room that was SUPER affordable and ended up having it all to myself. They have free rodeo tickets when it is in town, a fridge for your things and coffee in the back. I really is a great place to stay and I am so glad I did. 100% recommend staying in this ADORABLE log cabin hotel. I can't say enough good things!

I loved staying here with my family for two nights in July. I bought sweaters from the gift shop, ate at the diner, and my van broke down in the parking lot. The owner pulled out some tools and got my van running again for me.

The town is walkable from the motel room. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, and a grocery stores, etc.

Don't expect folks here to pay attention to stop signs. They just stop if it seems a stop sign might be there. It seems to be a laid back and friendly place.
