My dog Leo and I had the best stay at The Hohnstead this past summer! The hosts are so welcoming and they’ve made their special slice of natural paradise such a nice play to stay for those who want to spend some time in nature but also want to stay in any of the 6 or 7 quaint magical unique tiny homes they’ve set up around the property. I stayed at the A-Frame and loved it but all of the private tiny homes seemed great, I ended up spending a few extra days just hanging out and going on some local hikes and enjoying the natural beauty of the place with my dog, we both felt so free and at ease. Thanks again guys and I hope next time comes sooner rather than later!

I had unbelievable fun staying here for two nights. This is the perfect place to “unplug” from the world. The hikes around the property are awesome. The scavenger hunt is 110% worth it. I stayed in the A-Frame and I loved it. I cant wait to go back and try another one of the spaces. Alla and Garrett are thee coolest hosts i’ve ever met. It’s clear that both of them love what they do. Alla and Garrett are so friendly and i’m so fortunate to say that I have gained two new friends out of this trip.

Had a great time staying in the A-frame at the Hohnstead. The property is beautiful and the hot tub is a definant plus! Garret and Allah are very friendly and interesting people to talk to, not to mention very accomidating hosts! I would very much recommend staying here to anyone who wants to have a more intimate experience with the area instead of a room at the local chain hotel!

I loved my time here. It was definitely too short. I stayed in the A frame and really enjoyed it. The amount of thought that has been put into this property and how they manage to stay off grid is very impressive. I’m not an outdoorsy person by any means and felt like this was a good way to dip my toe in. We wanted to do the hike around the property but there was a scheduled burn that morning and the smoke was too thick to make it enjoyable. Just gives me another reason to come back though:)

Don’t pass up the opportunity to stay at the Hohnstead. Our cabin was the absolute cutest, the hosts couldn’t be more friendly or accommodating. I’ll be back!

“The review that is the hardest to write because you want this place to stay a hidden gem. ”
The Hohnstead is one of my favorite places I have ever stayed. This place is somewhere I look forward to visiting year after year.
There is a strong sense of calmness and peacefulness when I am there that in todays world, is truly hard to find.
The hosts Garrett and Alla are two of the kindest, warm, and most amazing people I have ever met. They are so much fun and extremely accommodating. The hosts foster a safe and friendly environment allowing individuals staying there to connect with each other. It’s always fun when you come back multiple years and see someone from the last time you stayed (shout-out Christine and Napali’s boyfriend Calvin)
The Hohnstead is truly a hidden gem tucked away in a beautiful lush forest. If you are looking for a serene environment where endless adventures await you, this is your place!

My friends and I stayed here and we had an awesome time. The area is gorgeous, the cabin was perfect, and the owners are very friendly. At night if you look hard enough you can see the milky way.

So amazing, the owners are so kind and sweet, the landscape is stunning- we stayed in the shed, which is so cute and comfy 10/10! The amenities are great, we were able to do smores, and cook our dinners in the commons area ^×^! Would highly recommend for any sort of getaway!

This was my third stay at the Hohnstead and the experience just gets better every time. It is a beautiful, quiet oasis where you can escape in nature while sheltering in a cute, tiny cabin. The amenities in the cabins are so well-thought and detailed, providing everything you could need or want. We stayed in the Blind again this year where the views are amazing. Alla and Garrett are such genuine people and fabulous hosts. I highly recommend the Honestead to anyone who wants a pristine get-away in the beautiful mountains of Montana. You will not be disappointed!

Garrett and Alla are excellent hosts and they have built a special place. I stayed at "The Shed" for a week and had an amazing time. Having a trail right at the front door made it very convenient to exercise my dogs and it was just an all around great way to start my day. Additionally there are stunning hikes within an hour's drive. White water rafting is worth a day trip as well. Missoula is 30min away, so you have the advantages of being in the country with easy access to city life when you desire it.

I enjoyed showering in the afternoon with the sun shining in my face and a view of the trees. I highly recommend staying here for several nights to soak it all in!

The Hohnstead offers the perfect balance between alone time and a community feel. I felt super safe as a solo female traveler. Thank you Garrett & Alla for sharing your place with me and the many helpful recommendations throughout my stay.

A beautiful and peaceful alternative to staying in an overpriced Missoula motel when coming up to drop off your kid at college! Plus, it made for some pretty special mother and son time. Gorgeous wilderness, clean, stylish, and super cool in every way. The owners are there to greet you and make sure you have everything you need. Plus there’s coffee in the cabins, and a community dining / lounging room stocked with drinking water, earth friendly goodies like natural honey from the hive, and other such city-folk wonders. The owners even brew their own beer and kombucha, free for guests to enjoy. They built this masterpiece from the ground up with and pride of ownership shines through at every turn. Thanks so much for all of your hard work, we’re the benefactors! Make sure to pick the A-frame if you can- we just loved it!

My boyfriend & I spent our 1yr anniversary together here and it was exactly what we needed. We disconnected from the stress of our lives and focused on reconnecting with each other; adventuring through the woods, playing cards, star gazing, and listening to the rain on the roof of The Blind. The hosts feel like friends you’ve known for ages and the cabins quickly become your home away from home. We can’t wait to go back and adventure some more.

The Hohnstead is a great spot to get away for a couple days or even a night, just out of town enough to feel secluded, but not too far to pop back into Missoula. This place is super human and pet friendly, I had a great time staying here and would highly recommended:)

Loved our stay in the A Frame cabin! Super cozy, well designed, set on a gorgeous Montana property, overall a great place to get out of town and be immersed in nature.

Second time back and I can’t say enough positive feedback about this slice of peace and serenity! The hosts are amazing; there are some places you stay and communicate with the hosts, and others you experience what prompted them to create such a space… and then find yourself lucky enough to share it with them. Talk about passionate people who have made the most of their dream! Clean and thoughtful accommodations, beautiful surrounding landscape and views, and an absolute mental reset to visit! If you’ve even remotely considered renting at The Hohnstead, I encourage you to follow through wholeheartedly. If this is a new find for you, just get out there and book it! You will not regret it. I can confidently say this visit will not be the last time we go back! And PS, I say *we* because they’re super dog-friendly… which is always a bonus! So much gratitude and appreciate for a wonderful re-visit, from myself and little Seabass.:)

This place is great. It is close to everything and secluded. It is quiet. Peaceful. Come here to meditate, do hikes or finish your great American novel you know you want to write. This is not a private equity owned ABNB. Garett and Alla are awesome hosts and want you to have an authentic interaction with nature. I highly recommend it.

I was lucky to know Garrett, the host, via a friend of mine and spend time at Hohnstead during my stay in Montana. If you want to fall a sleep watching the sky full of stars and wake up with a view of beautiful mountains, without the hassle of hiking and pitching a tent, Hohnstead is a perfect place for you. Each cabin is remote from the others.so you feel you're alone in the mountains and can watch stars in complete darkness. Garrett and Alla are very friendly and helpful in guiding their guests to the right direction for real Montanan experience!

I came to the Hohnstead a stranger but it felt like I made two new friends. I am a wedding photographer and was traveling and wanted a quiet retreat to get connected to nature and it was PERFECT. This place is pure magic. Felt like the ultimate glamping experience but you still had all the amenities that made it feel so comfortable. Also it just seemed to attract kind and nice people. I actually got a flat tire on my rental and they not only alerted me but helped me change it along with one of the other guests who had the cutest husky pup. I learned to shoot an arrow on their scavenger hunt. I had a glass of wine and looked at the stars. I was on a solo trip but can't wait to come back with my fiance. I absolutely adore Garrett and Alla they are two wonderful genuine people who have the most beautiful love story. They were both attentive if I needed them for anything but also gave me my space and time to just be present and retreat into nature. I partly didn't want to write this because I don't want this place to become flooded but the people deserve to know. Also rebel vibes in the best way, literally on anarchy drive, absolutely adore the hohnstead, if you are in Bonner you need to go and check out! They have thought of everything, oh and did I mention how sustainable it is set up? !
