The Missoulian Angler Fly Shop, Missoula MT

We had an outstanding experience with their guiding. They were gracious to set us up on a last minute float. We wanted to challenge ourselves on some more technical water, and our guide Greg Inglis worked really hard getting us into a nice hatch and some incredible dry fly fishing. Highly recommend.

I was just another tourist visiting Montana with some friends to fly fish for a week. George and his staff at the shop were incredibly welcoming and helpful, not just to us but to all of the many customers coming in and out. They took our questions, offered information outside of our questions, shot the breeze with us, and shared some awesome fly recommendations that worked out really well for our trip. I am a solid fisherman, but their input definitely got me on the fish faster than I would have done on my own. Their welcoming attitude, extensive fly and tying selection, and overall excellent shop atmosphere left a very positive lasting impression. Many thanks to George and the guys.

As a new fly fisherman I had more than a handful of questions revolving around my lack of trout in the net. There’s SO much to learn and George at MAFS was eager to share his depth of knowledge on the topic. He picked out the flies I needed and led me to the right leader to gain the confidence to get back out on the water and pull in those Brownies the next day. Went on a float trip down the black foot with Greg. An exceptional fly fishing guide and fisherman in his own right I would consider myself very adept, and he handled the trip extremely well. My father who also went along on the trip was a beginner and Greg was able to lead him to success. It was a challenging day but we were very successful. I went against his advice and chose the Blackfoot over the Bitterroot because I had already fished that this week and wanted to catch Cutthroat out of every single stream I fished. Absolutely phenomenal day on the water. Greg was absolutely hilarious, he felt like part of my family. If I was forced to say a negative I felt like the end of the day was a bit rushed. But when I say end of the day I'm talking about the last 15 minutes so cannot recommend this Outfitter highly enough and this guy to particular I will be rebooking on my next visit 100%. And I don't plan on booking with any other guide unless he has zero availability. The Fly Shop also is phenomenal very good communication. Phenomenal views and the knowledge of Greg our guide in this case was phenomenal from the fish in the rivers to the wildlife surrounding it. Greg is a master class of a guide should be. As I guide in Florida myself, and having been on many guide trips in many states, I highly recommend Greg. I always hold back on my abilities so that I let the guide take full control on what they want to do, and this is especially important on a float trip. So even if you are a very seasoned fly fisherman like myself, be malleable and listen and comply with recommendations and instruction, and you will be very successful. Pops and I floated Bitterroot full day with Greg in the first week of Sept. We had a blast! Great experience from the time I called until we parted ways. Good communication, helpful, and put us on some other waters to try out while we were in town for the week.
