Top Hat, Missoula MT

Food was good. Service was pretty slow and staff not the friendliest. This is still one of my "go to's" and do recommend them. Good atmosphere but always noisy. It's a bar. I get it.

Honestly the Top Hat has absolutely zero business trying to sell tickets! I’ve tried three times to buy concert tickets for a special concert before they run out and we live an hour out of town. When I show up the girls told me they can’t sell them because of a show that night. She said to come back on a specific date and time. So that’s what we did. We show up at that time and again they said they can’t sell us a ticket because of another show that night even tho there was no show currently in action. This was at 5 in the afternoon. We told them we did what they said and they did not care so we tried again, and the same damn thing happened a 3rd time! How unprofessional. It’s cost us over 60 dollars in gas because of this place’s inability to offer the services they say they do. We were never rude but out of the inconvenience they shut the blinds in our face at the ticket booth. I wanted to ask for the manger, but to be treated like this because I want to purchase tickets is beyond irritating and unprofessional! The manger needs to do something about honoring the products and times of operations.

Not the place for vegetarians! The veggie melt came out burnt and the veggie patty was mush with absolutely no flavour. Thankfully our server took it off our bill but even then the service was definitely not apologetic. It took us over an hour to even pay because the server never came to check on us. Definitely not an overly welcoming atmosphere. I would try Biga pizza! Great experience there

Great atmosphere and good food. Had the burger and French dip and both were great. Love sitting outside enjoying a local draught.

I used to be able to see local bands every night of the week and it has a small stage that is now only used infrequently on the weekends. Good food now and a nice clean place. But I'm sad about the lack of the local bands every night that was the norm when it was more divey with pool tables.

We had the worst service ive ever experienced on friday night. We sat there for 30 minutes with multiple people walking past us and had to ask for a waitress we said excuse me very politely and got a dirty look with nothing said then watched in the doorway multiple waitstaff looking at us one shrugging her shoulders and shaking her head at me. We finally got service but not nice service. Girl came over and said anything other then water with no introduction i said yes and we are ready to order and she relied YUP. We ordered and still the rudeness continues every waitstaff would fill waters around us but not ours. When our food came 2 people brought it out looked at each other smirked and then gave it to us.im not sure what we did or said but ive never been treated so poor in my life.

Great menu featuring familiar dishes with creative twists done very well. Spicy Carmel chicken bites were crisp, juicy and well seasoned. The service was friendly, professional and knowledgeable.
We will be back!

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. It's such a wonderful place for those of us who live in Missoula and even those who are visiting.

It’s usually my go-to when taking guests from out of town. It was AWFUL. Server was unmotivated, tot’s were burned and shrimp tacos were mostly slaw. Everyone’s meal was cold and all the sides were burned. Drinks were terrible and watered down. Disappointing

Lettuce wraps were good, but waiter forgot our appetizer so it came out after dinner. Besides that he was great. Service was decent, atmosphere was nice, good outdoor seating. Very light on the fries. Homemade dressing was awesome - definitely try the ranch. Food was all in all alright, but not spectacular. Still a good option for a bite.

I was at the top hat tue with some friends and the waitstaff was horrible! We saw our waiter twice. Once to take our order and once to tell us he was leaving for the day. And then the girl that took over for him again only saw her twice once to get a drink order and once when we had to flag her down to pay! My salad was disappointing and so were the fried pickles. I used to go to the top hat a lot but the service is so bad it’s hard to go and the food is so inconsistent!

Always love Top Hat -️️️️️ usually. We always recommend family and friends from out of town as a must go to. Unfortunately the last couple times our food was not good at all. 3 stars this time only because it’s usually really good. I called to let management know and was put on hold twice today for quite a while so I figured I would post here. Im only posting here to let management know as Top Hat is usually great food, atmosphere and with a great staff. I understand the challenges of today, but our dinners should not have not hit the table the last 2 times. I will probably give it a go one more time, but 3 strikes and you’re out for a while.

Great little local joint downtown Missoula. Great beer selection, chips and dips were a 11 out of 10, homemade tater tots melted in your mouth, and the burger was uniquely delicious. Only thing slightly negative is 2 of us got medium patties and 1 medium well. They all came out pretty well done. Not a deal breaker but overall super place ill go back to.

Stopped here while walking around exploring town during Maggot fest. The outdoor seating area was so nice and chill. Our server was excellent. The sangria came recommended and it was delicious. The food was really good to.

Service and atmosphere have always been great for me, nothing but love there… just sad that the Chick n Waffles used to be so good and now they are Meh. They used to have big pieces of chicken, tons of seasoning, some whipped honey butter magic, and they were heavy on the syrup. Now they are extremely average on a good day… like unrecognizable to the magic that once was. Instead of drowning in syrup I’m now drowning in nostalgia for the good ol’ days gorging myself a double serving of Top Hat’s Chicken n Waffles.

I’ll be ok, there are bigger things out there I guess… i just wanted to encourage someone to get back in there and revive the old spirit of the irresistible Top Hat Chicken n Waffles.

Travelling through and was recommended to this place. I get this place is a special local thing and that's cool, it's definitely got atmosphere and love but the food was straight up not worth it and the service matched. 5pm on a Wednesday, what's up? It's not like it was busy but somehow everything seemed rushed. We sat right next to the bar at a table but our beers came 13 min later- and that's real time. Our server zipped by us many times in that time but no beer. Cool. Ordered the veggie melt and the bottom bread was wet by the time it got to our table. My husband took 2 bites and put a napkin over it- he quit your food, man. The Jackfruit tacos were a little bland but the tortillas on them were hard (flour?) and tasteless, and all you have to do is use traditional yellow corn tortillas and put "some" green on it to punch up flavor. Just copy a Mexican taco truck- that's how it should taste. The pickle chips.we ordered them first and they came out with the entrees but the taste- it's like battered and fried sugar discs. Maybe the overly gritty texture from the cornmeal batter is your thing, but they just don't go down without a swig of beer. The tater tots are not tater tots they are fried Mashed potato-balls, just call it that. And i finished the tacos but man did I focus more on picking apart the food rather than tasting it- and my sibling is the professional chef in the family not me. I cannot recommend it. The space is fantastic though.
