1840 Inn on the Main Bed and Breakfast, Canandaigua NY

The Inn is immaculately kept and full of charm. Adele was ready for our early afternoon arrival due to a mid-afternoon family event we needed to attend. Upon our return later that evening, we enjoyed tea and cookies in the downstairs foyer. Unfortunately we could only stay for the one night and had to leave before dawn the next day, so we missed our opportunity to sample the Inn's breakfast fare. Would definitely stay here again in the future!

Adelle was a fabulous host, everything was absolutely perfect for our anniversary stay. We stayed in the Gifford Room and the jacuzzi tub was the highlight to our stay after the breakfast! Adelle's breakfast was honestly the best I've ever had, I would come here again just for that! She was very accommodating to our taste and no detail was overlooked. My wife and I found our new anniversary tradition. Thank you so much for the wonderful weekend. 5+ stars!

We spent 4 nights at this charming B&B in Canandaigua NY. Our room was a very nice size, especially with the seating area overlooking the rear yard. This provided plenty of sunshine in the room. The innkeeper was very accommodating and friendly. We had to leave very early on our last morning. She packed us a delicious to-go breakfast for the drive home. It included a yogurt and fruit parfait, zucchini bread and an apple. We enjoyed the breakfasts, and afternoon sweets. The inn is located in a lovely walkable neighborhood just a short distance from restaurants, shops and attractions.

My husband and I planned a two night stay for our anniversary. From start to finish our weekend was amazing and we wished we had another night.
Adele greeted us upon our arrival. She was kind, accommodating and so laid back she made us feel immediately welcome and at home. We expressed that we have a very hectic work schedule and looking forward to sleeping in a bit. She emphasized that she was "here for us" and she said we could come down to breakfast what ever time worked for us.
She showed us to our room which was absolutely beautiful. The bed was insanely comfortable and the linens were luxurious! Best two nights sleep we have had in a long time. The Jacuzzi tub in the room was so perfect. The room ambiance was so relaxing. The walls were a dark blue and the glow from the fireplace just made for pure relaxation. Everything was so clean and fresh.
The entire house was beautiful, inside and out. There was a mini fridge available for the guests to use upstairs by their room. Another one may be nice to add.as it was pretty full when we arrived so we couldn't really utilize it, but we did have a small cooler so it was not a big deal at all:)
The inn is so close to the shops and restaurants on main street. We walked into town in under ten minutes. We had a great day of shopping and then stopped at a local brewery for some drinks and to watch the bills game! We finished with dinner and walked home. Adele had cookies waiting for the guests to enjoy.they were delicious.
Adele cooked a wonderful breakfast each morning. My husband is a tad bit fussy.and she didn't mind cooking him a special breakfast! Such wonderful service!
We travel around and have stayed at many inn's and B and Bs.this is by far our favorite to date! We would love to plan another visit soon.and next time we will definitely stay three nights instead of two!

This was such a lovely and welcoming place to stay!
We loved the wonderful breakfasts, fresh cookies left out for us in the afternoon, and being able to help ourselves to coffee or tea at anytime. The house and grounds are beautiful and an easy walk into downtown. Adele is such a relaxed and kind host. A perfect place for us on a fall visit. We’ll be back!

Great location. Beautiful older home with interesting and nicely decorated rooms. Adele cooked spectacular breakfasts for us and even packed us a great breakfast to take in the car one morning when we had to leave before breakfast was being served. Very thoughtful and tasty!

My wife and I had a great night at the inn. It was very quiet and relaxing, and the breakfast was amazing. We would definitely stay again the next time we need a quiet place to relax.

Adele was so welcoming & helpful. Additionally she served the best breakfasts & afternoon snacks. The Inn was beautiful, the staff accommodating & the location perfect!

Friendly and helpful staff. Balanced modern and historic decor. Small refrigerators for common use of guests. Linens are ideal. Fluffy down- feather pillows.
Bed was on the stiffer side. Cleanliness was 8: 10 (I'm a professional housekeeper so my opinion is an occupational hazard on that matter)
Biggest disappointment was the coffee- keurig available, the brewed coffee had the strength of strong iced tea. (We did not do breakfast due to my husbands very particular taste and it is simply easier to eat out for us)

Adele was an excellent host. The Inn is beautiful with furniture from the era. Everything was very clean. We stayed in the Gifford room with the most spectacular four poster bed! Breakfast was fabulous!

When We left, we forgot our pants in the closet, Adele sent them with no hesitation to our next destination!

Adele and her team made our stay amazingly comfortable and relaxing. The room and house are excellent, food is outstanding, and the service is top notch. The inn is walking distance to the Sonnenberg Gardens and after a day wandering, we hung out for a dinner on the porch in beautiful weather, and for a day on the pontoon, Adele prepared us an excellent box lunch! We will definitely be recommending the B&B to all our friends

Our family just stayed at the for the wedding of our son and the bride’s family stayed there too! I can not say enough good things about our stay. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the food was delicious and the host, Adele, feels like an old friend. She is delightful and so accommodating! Here’s my grandson enjoying his breakfast and the newlyweds too! I hope we can go back someday soon.

We loved our weekend visit to the 1840 Inn on Main. The accommodations were spotless and home and furnishings are beautiful. Thoughtful touches like a fridge and coffee maker in common areas make your stay convenient without distracting from the historic feel of the guestrooms. The breakfasts each day were amazing; multiple courses that gave you both sweet and savory and ensured you started the day with a full belly. Conveniently located a short walk from downtown. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful bed and breakfast. Adele and her crew were so thoughtful and hospitable. We were so comfortable and enjoyed all of the amenities of the inn and the spacious room. We enjoyed starting each day with an incredibly delicious breakfast that was prepared and presented to us in the warm and inviting dining room. Adele also left amazing desserts, tea and coffee in the dining room each afternoon. Every detail was thought of and we look forward to returning on our next visit to Canandaigua.

Really beautiful place, and the room and bed were very comfortable. We only stayed one night, but we would definitely return!
