2nd Ave Deli reviews
17 UGH, so good! I got salmon and scrambled eggs and it was literally divine. My husband got a gigantic sandwich that he couldn't even finish a full 1/2 of!
We got a piece of Chocolate Babka at the end of our meal and it was delicious. We wanted to go back again in just the week we were in New York!
Loved the atmosphere, the smell, the pickles, the pastrami. But i did find it quite expensive for the level of sophistication
My favorite nyc kosher deli! Always feels like being home (no wonder almost every celebrity in New York has eaten here!) the food is always fresh, sandwhiches are always big, stuffed cabbage is one if my favorites, always end with the apple strudel
Possibly one of, if not THE best place to get classic Eastern European Jewish deli food. Everything from kasha varnishkes and stuffed derma to well stuffed sandwiches of corned beef, pastrami, tongue, etc. Everything is Kosher so you do pay a premium for that but worth the experience.
Turkey was crumbling in my hands which means it was old and rotten! Inedible sandwich. Thank gd I only took one bite I would have gotten food poisoning!
Great place with good eats! Every time I have been in there has been delightful even though they've been out of Kreplach every single time I've been there due to the cook who makes it leaving due to COVID-19. COVID-19 still bringing the hurt. Nonetheless still a good place.
Second Ave Deli is nothing what it once was. Today I picked up corn beef and pastrami that had no taste. And I got a quart of matzoh ball soup with noodles and they charged me $23 for a quart of soup! It’s outrageous! I love great food, I know the difference and I spent $80 or rather I threw away $80. The hotdog with sauerkraut and mustard was good and the Dr. Brown’s soda was as good as it gets. (Sarcasm.). But that’s about it. Go elsewhere
Corned beef was terrible. Could’ve made a better sandwich from home. Tasted of little flavor. Meat seemed microwaved. Bread was unimpressive and it was the plainest sandwich I ever had. I don’t even think this would be passable if I were drunk. The Sandwich isn’t worth 5 dollars.
Great. Haven't had a triple decker in a few years. Pastrami, tongue and corned beef. With Russian dressing and Cole slaw. The 2 workers behind the counter were friendly and helpful. Their food is just as good as when they were on 2nd Ave. They are now on 33rd st between Lexington and 3rd Ave.
Simply delicious! What a great sandwich.
They’ve got pastrami, corn beef, tongue & everything else you would like from a kosher deli
2nd avenue Deli has won by far that terrible fight of being the pastrami on rye in NY. Be ready for a time travel in the 50’s with all the classical items from Jewish Easter Europe food. It’s good, it vintage, it’s unique. It’s a no brainer that worths the visit.
Incredible mushrooms barley soup. Stuffed derma was sublime. The pastrami was dry & I did not ask for lean. And, ot of Dr. Brown's Celeray? Come on!
Always Great food, very clean. Prompt service. Complementary shot glass if chocolate egg cream.
Pricy but worth it.
What a great place. The fella that works, the front (I think he's the owner) is very warm and personable. Pastrami is out of this world. Worth a trip to NYC just for a sandwich. A Classic deli.
Extremely friendly and punctual service in a bustling, charming dining room.
Within a minute of ordering, steaming matzo ball soup was in front of me. The matzo was heavenly-light and pillowy yet rich and comforting. The soup was clean and tasty.
Pastrami was full of flavor, with beautifully rendered streaks of fat. I personally prefer thicker slices of pastrami, and I wish it were served hot. The rye bread was excellent-fragrant with a good texture.
The cabbage slaw and deli mustard made an accidental sweet/sour match made in heaven
They extended my delivery time twice then canceled my order after waiting an hour. I worked in the service industry for years so I have the utmost patience and sympathy for the staff, but this place has burned me way too many times to ever order from here again.
A very good Kosher alternative to Katz Deli but the pastrami sandwich is not as good as the one in Katz.still it was very good, their mustard sauce was very tasty as well. The service was fast as well! We expected it to be busy but even on a sunday we were able to get a seat pretty quickly
