I’m glad this place survived the Lockdown.i used to come here back in college (early 2010’s) for the happy hour and the casual bite.i went recently (Jan ‘24) for dinner.the steak burritos slap.the chips and salsa never miss.the long island iced tea is hella strong.lower your expectations for the crispy flautas tho, sorry.still 5 stars all around.staff is polite and prompt.

The food and drink were amazing. We had the steak quesadillas, chicken tacos, rice, and beans. Everything was very flavourful. The service was perfect. It's a great spot to go with friends to have a good time.

I always come here because I like the food and their drinks. Frozen strawberries margaritas are the best.
But the servers are always so busy and they look so stressful and tired, that it makes my appetite go away. They look so mean. A waiter gave me a dirty fork and when I ask him for a clean one please, he looks at me like I was bothering him or something.
I should off have ask him, if he would like to eat with a dirty fork. Btw be prepared for the worst wait time to seat. And in the summer don’t go there too hungry, you will regret it.

This is my go to Mexican food spot, as I’ve been going here for years now. Located on famous Austin Street in Forest Hills it is quite convenient to get to by transit. This is a very casual spot not fancy at all and it is very much a bar setting. I love the spot, mainly because of the food. I have tried everything from their steak, steak, tacos, grilled chicken entrées, grilled shrimp, and even their pork chops. Hands-down. I have never been disappointing with any of their food. It is all so very good. The portion size is a nice and everything is well seasoned. My most favorite thing to get are the drinks specifically the frozen margarita. I’m not proud of the statement, but I have only had a frozen margaritas in all the years that I have been going to this restaurant and that’s because they are so damn good! You get to flavor them as well I have had everything from the pomegranate, to the apricot, to the strawberry, to the passionfruit, and I love them all. The staff are very friendly and know how to navigate very well throughout the restaurant even though they can get very crowded at times. The only con that I have about this restaurant is that it is very small and the waiting time on most days can be very very long, as they are a neighborhood staple and very popular.during the summertime, there is outdoor seating, which alleviates the wait time sometimes. Love this place they never disappoint. Highly recommend if you want good Mexican.

It's a bit of a tight space when it gets busy, but the staff is great, the food is great and the vibe is great This is a known neighborhood gem. The food is always fresh and always made with care. They don't skimp on ingredients or quality. Tacombe opened up across the street and my wife and I keep saying "what a dumb business move" bc who in the hell would go to Tacombe when 5 burros is right here? The black bean soup, the chicken fajitas, the nachos- hell, even the BURGER at 5 burros is absolutely perfect. It's a little cramped inside but nobody will bother you unless you are a complete jerk. I've been coming here for years and it's always been great. It is a little uncomfortably tight and loud when eating and they are kinda divas when it comes to ordering out - website kinda works and then doesn't and they never answer the phone - but they are always busy for a reason- the food is great, the service is great and it's a fun spot!

Server was horrible, felt like I was profile. Waiter brought another tables bill which double my bill. Didn't feel welcome.

I’m a big fan of their food and I always try to eat here whenever I’m in Forest Hills. The shrimp fajitas are by far my favorite meal…so yummy!

The Ensalada Mexicana with beef is great and tasty. I really loved it, I’ve being craving for a good salad and this one did not disappoint. The 3 tacos come with rice, beans, guacamole and some sour cream. Great service. The music was a little too loud but great atmosphere.
Definitely will be back just for the salad.

Came here for the first time last week Saturday night. It’s a small spot. The restaurant accommodates a lot of people. They serve Mexican food, drinks etc. I came here with a friend and her cousins. They ordered three appetizers which was mussels which I don’t eat, medium steak cheese nachos and regular nachos. The steak cheese nachos was good.

We were able to order our dinner. I got chicken fajitas it came with rice, guacamole, pico de gallo, sour cream and refried beans. The food took long to come which was fine. I didn’t like the chicken it had a burnt taste. Overall the service went well.

I was really anticipating this place. My meal was overall okay, refrigerated salsa, the service could have been better.

A great place if you're looking for authentic Mexican flavor.
Recommend the frozen margarita pitcher.
Always busy. Sometimes a longish wait.
Only downside is that the entire group needs to be present to be seated.

One of my favorite Mexican spots. The nachos are amazing I get them every trip. But I am really here to talk about the margaritas pi, tcher. Boy do they get the job done. Only thing is I wish they have more flavors. Great spot to link your friends after work.

This restaurant was recommended by several of my close friends. So we decided to give them a try. We arrived and spoke with a woman who we assumed was the host. She let us know that the wait for a table would be 20 mins. We informed her we would wait outside. It's a tiny spot, so we wanted to not be in the way of the servers. While waiting outside, we watched her seat several people who arrived after us. Evenrually we approached and asked why we had been skipped. Instead of apologizing, the woman said we didn't request to sit outside. So I asked her why she didn't ask our preference. It was our first time here, and we didn't know a request had to be made to get a table in a specific section, etc. But is it not the host who let's you know the options, I mean, I don't work at the restaurant or know their policy or the way of the land, so to speak. To make matters worse, the woman then proceeded to yell and argue with us about her mistake. So we graciously left. What a shame to not even be able to see if the food makes enduring the pitiful host service worthwhile!

Watched a young woman quit tonight because a customer put their hands on her. How this establishment didn't completely have her back and immediately remove the customer is beyond me. Food here is nothing special, same garbage Mexican food you find on the east coast.
