One of my favorite public spaces to work from in NYC. There is counter seating on the first floor just before going down the stairs. Downstairs has lots of seating options including large work tables with power outlets. Great wifi as well. The space is very nice and clean.

Very friendly staff and a great collection of books (new and old). The internal architecture is well done too. One of my favourite public libraries!

Gosh this is a beautiful space! The atmosphere is a welcome distraction from the hectic madness that Midtown can be known for. The children's section is well apportioned and has fantastic space for reading with kids. The staff is very friendly and kind. A visit is always a welcome respite from a busy walk around Midtown.

The place is nice but kids have been allowed to run around and be noisy and their nanny/parents are just chatting very loudly.feels like daycare! It's hard to do work. Hope it was just an event and not a regular thing. Other than that the library is comfortable to stay and read a book.of course without all those noises and distractions.

Best library I have been to in Ny. Love taking my kids here. The librarians here are top notch and go out of their way to be helpful. All the librarians are great but special shout-out to Mike, Grace, and Caitlin who are amazing.

It feels a little stuffy the way it’s designed, since the study area/tables are below ground but the staff is amazing, always really helpful and kind:)

Cool library not one of the old grey libraries. It is quiet and staff are wonderful. After last visit I can tell you one thing: I hope to come here a lot more.

The most beautiful library I have been to. There is so much history and the architecture of the building is magnificent.

We visited the main branch of the library and stayed for almost two hours. How? Because there is so much to see and admire. The library had beautiful Christmas decorations when we visited (12/29/18). My favorite was the giant Christmas tree in the center of the lobby/main entrance.

The main reading room is a must and is divided into tourist section and actual reading section for people studying or researching. My husband and I sat and marveled at everything around us. There are also many different rooms that we recommend - follow the guide/map. One of my favorite rooms was the map room. I picked out an atlas for Korea and just sat there for awhile, reading the book surrounded by beautiful artwork of New York. Behind the library is Bryant Park, which is another beautiful spot. While we were there, the holiday market was in along with the ice skating. I loved the market so much that I returned several times.

Quiet oasis in midtown. I usually eat at these steps for lunch. Never too crowded, super clean and organized. I absolutely love the aesthetic and ambiance of this library.
