86 Street Photo & Portrait Studio reviews
15Highly recommended and easy to work with. Also price was reasonable for what I needed to get done.
Really quick service and the quality is really good!
It’s a bit pricey but since the service is quick for taking photos, developing, etc, worth it
Been dropping my 35mm film off here since Jan 2021 and they’ve gotten it back to me same day every time! They’re quick and I know what I’m getting every time - one time my film was blank bc I loaded it wrong, and they gave me some credit to use for the next time.
The best OF the BEST. I came here to get my pictures developed, and expected to have them a week later. So you can imagine my surprise when he said he’ll have my pictures in a hour. Too good. Recommend.
I had have had many disposable photos developed and they are always extremely kind and the photos turn out wonderfully! Also they are finished the same day, so much nicer than waiting for weeks at CVS. You get your film back and they will scan and email the photos as well.
These guys are fabulous, great customer service and awesome print quality. I live out of state, but needed to get photos to a NYC friend asap. They were helpful on the phone, easy to upload the photos online, and quick turnaround. Highly recommend them!
I called to ask about their pricing for developing disposable cameras and prints (don't need digital copies). The woman who picked up was rude from the start saying "what" instead of greeting and how can she help - figured they were probably super busy near the holiday time - I get it.
I was in the middle of asking my question - when the woman interrupted me and said "you cannot develop online", which is obvious to most people who have had a single use camera before. So, I restarted my question again, she answers rudely by basically not answering. Lastly, when I genuinely said "Thank you" to end the call she tried "mocking" me when she said "you're welcome" with her tone.
Super unfortunate experience, definitely won't go there.
I just called them up to see about getting a professional print of a digital photo and as a person who is very specific about the type of print needed I asked him what type of printers they used to print digital images. He gruffly said photo paper and I said ok but what kind of printers and explained I meant is it inkjet dye so limitation to electrography. He literally yelled back. ITS JUST PHOTO PAPER and then said chemical printer.
DO NOT GO HERE. RUDE UNKNOWLEDGABLE STAFF!
The friendly gentleman at the counter is a true professional. I have tried every shop in the neighborhood which takes passport size photographs, but this shop takes better photographs than any of them. If you want the photo on your passport to look like you at the beginning of the trip rather than you at the border control after a 15 hour flight, then this is the place to go to. However, be warned that they are more expensive than other places.
I love this place! It's like a hardware store for photography. I find what I need all of the time and the staff is always so helpful and knowledgeable.
A true film photographer’s paradise. A real 1-hour photo spot, with fabulous Noritsu scans available. They process 35mm & 120; color, slide and b/w. They sell film by the roll and box, both consumer-grade and pro. They know what they’re doing and they do it well!
OMG, I am so happy to find very professional places to do restoration of badly damaged pictures of my grandparents.
I have been in 4 places on Upper East Side and no shop took my pictures to restore.
Only on 86th Street, Yury - his name, sorry do not know his last name, did SUPER FINE work.
I am so happy, I am so grateful.
Thank you.

I wish I could give zero stars! The gentleman behind the counter did not even acknowledge me after standing at the counter for a couple minutes, then acted is if I was bothering him when I simply asked do you they develop disposable cameras. Why would I give you my business if you seem like you don’t even want it? The prices are also absolutely ridiculous. Would definitely recommend going elsewhere.
They don’t like to work, the guy there was short to answer my few questions and then tried to overcharge me for a passport picture
This place really is a curiosity! They seem to have "favorite customers". And others. I laugh when I got out the first time I went there, thinking that I never met such rude shop owners before. The most ironic thing is the Customer Service picture hanging on the wall behind the counter. They're so rude they reminded me of the virtue of kindness (and prompted me to learn how to develop films myself).
