On 10/20/21, my life changed forever. While helping at an accident, I was struck by a large box truck. Besides many other serious injuries, my leg was amputated above the knee. When I woke up I couldn’t believe what happened. I was a very active active 61 year old man and now I couldn’t even get out of bed. While I was in the hospital and rehab my adult sons did massive research about prosthetics and prosthetists. Everything pointed to Step-A-Head Prosthetics and Erik Schaffer. The minute you walk into the office you are met by an amazing staff that make you feel comfortable. My first trip there was in an ambulance and on a stretcher. Unable to move much, Erick picked me up a put me in a wheelchair and me a tour of they facility and introduced me to everyone. I immediately got the feeling that I came to the right place. At the end of the visit, Erick told me that I would be walking be walking shortly. I was! Thanks everyone at A-Step-ahead. I continue to go there three times a week and they are helping me complete my next challenge - to complete amino triathlon

My boyfriend is a patient at a step ahead and every time he would come out of there, he would always be feeling great and tell me all the amazing things that they have done to help him that specific day.
