Abyssinia Ethiopian Restaurant reviews
18Delicious food, both for meat eaters and vegetarians! Cozy atmosphere, good service! We really enjoyed our experience there!
Do not sleep in this gem!
The food is delicious. The dine in experience is great! The staff is friendly and the food is on point.
When ordering delivery or take out I am usually bit a fan. But this place packs their food to-go very smartly.
Do you a favor and eat here.
A fantastic meal! The server was extremely kind and all the food was delicious, especially the lentils and chickpea which were some of the best I've ever had, even compared to other Ethiopian restaurants I've been to. The interior isn't fancy, but it's warm, inviting, and you can smell delicious food the moment you walk in, which I LOVE. I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area.
We were in search of incredible Ethiopian cuisine in Harlem, Manhattan, NY. Unfortunately our favorite restaurant was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Ate at Abyssinia Ethiopian Restaurant. Seated right away and the waitress took our order quickly. We ordered the Abyssinia veggie combo for one and the meat combo for one.
We really enjoyed it, and we were stuffed afterward. My favorites were the red lentils and the chicken on the bone. The injera was almost sweet.
It was so much fun to eat with your hands. If there's any criticism, the atkilt wot was too crunchy, and most of the dishes could have been spiced up a few notches.
Can't wait to come back for more Ethiopian!
Beautiful welcoming space. Excellent service. Delicious food! I learnt that Ethiopian cuisine is influenced by indian cuisine so that was a great discovery. The Ethiopian tea was tasty and rich with cardamom, cloves and cinnamon notes. Thank you for a great experience ️
We started off with the meat Sambusa and it was delicious.
For mains we Doro Wat and Beef Awaze Tibs and each came with 2 sides for sides we had the lentils, collard greens, cabbage and string beans. All of them tasted very good. The food comes out in a unique manner in one big plate on an Injera we also got Injera along with the dishes.
Honey Wine Tej was a sweet wine with a mild honey flavour.
The staff very helpful and friendly.
We love ️ Ethiopian food and Abyssinia is one of our favorites. The Doro Wat is sooo good and all the veggie sides as well we’ve been here like 2-3 times and definitely will come back again. Highly recommend! The people who work there are very nice and welcoming. Great music too (Ethiopian).
Wonderful tasteful authentic food. Great welcoming staff, beautiful atmosphere. Would go back to try more dishes!
So yummy! Staff was super pleasant. Nice quaint and cozy spot. Clean restrooms and dining area. Can't wait to go back.
Over the many times I have been here I have tried the special kitfo, yetimatim fitfit, gored gored, and meat combo among others. The lamb awaze tibs are my favorite, and all of the sides are good. The baklava is also good for dessert. Portions are big enough that we usually have leftovers, and the service is great with extremely nice staff. It's a quiet place if you are looking to sit down for dinner, but if you order take out it will be ready in a reasonable time frame.
Absolutely delicious and excellent service.would 100% recommend, prices are convenient, portions are great and metro is very near
This place is wonderful, and there is always very nice staff working. We have tried several dishes and appetizers at this point (lamb awaze tibs, special kitfo, gored gored, yetimatim fitfit) and all of the sides, and have enjoyed everything. The baklava for desert is also really good.
Ate there on Sunday, June 5,2022. Great food. Pleasant laid back atmosphere. Very nice server and host. That was my first time ever eating Ethiopian food. I'll be returning there the next time I'm in NYC.
A place I definitely recommend and will visit again in the future. The food is absolutely delicious. You can taste the authenticity in each bite from its ethnic origination. Family friendly. Service can be a little better in promptness from receiving the food and being able to close out your check. For the location and the amount of food you receive for the price, it’s worth it because of the taste. Parking however can be an issue, certainly recommend using public transportation or cab service.
Very good Ethiopian food. The lentil curries were really tasty, however, the greens and side vegetables didn't have much taste.
Absolutely the best food ever. Loved the atmosphere. Everything was truly a treat. The lamb we chose to eat over rice.and it was phenomenal! My mom, sister and I were given the best customer service and hope to visit when we are in town again.
They have one of the worst customer services since the waiter is the daughter of the owner she doesn't care how she communicate with customer. She have no skill how to communicate with customer and rude with her answer
Delicious food, in a quiet environment. If you want to be able to have a conversation during your meal, this is the place.
