Adirondack Railroad, Thendara NY

We did the 1.5 hour ride to otter lake. Short and unorganized. Everyone was extremely nice. Will not be back.

Wonderful scenic train ride! Highly recommend if you are visiting, or just need to get out and do something Great service all around and the people who work there are all volunteers and phenomenal people!

Nice clean train. Staff are friendly. We paid for a train ride that was supposed to go to a pumpkin patch.but all we found where tiny pumpkins and a short trip up the tracks and back. Not worth the $40 we spent will not be going back.

Fun just too short the longer rides were all booked up but it was a nice ride non. The less

Took my kid on the Halloween train ride. He loved it. The staff were very nice and it was well worth it. We even got to see a deer (buck) before we left the station. Was very fun and not terribly expensive. Definitely going to make it a yearly thing.

We paid for the pumpkin train ride and were severely misled. We were told the ride would be going to a pumpkin patch where we would get to pick pumpkins and that the ride would be about 3 hours total round Trip it was an hour round trip there was no pumpkin patch involved whatsoever and they handed out little Mini pumpkins to the kids only at the end. Of the trip.
Exceedingly misleading do not recommend 1/10

First of all, the pick-up ticket process needs to be speeded up. We as seniors stood in line for almost 30 minutes to pick up tickets and got there an hour early as recommended. Wonder why we were asked on the reservation who we wanted to be seated with, because coach is general seating. Due to some delay, the departure was half an hour late and we were asked to move/change our seats twice. The cars were dirty and windows needed to be cleaned. We did enjoy visiting with our friends and seeing some leaves that had changed. The return trip was almost 1.5 hours late getting back to the station. The scheduled return time was 3: 30. We had made dinner reservations in Oneida for 4: 30, thinking we had plenty of time. Luckily, we were able to be seated at the restaurant around 5: 45. Don't know if we would do it again.

The leaves weren't at there best mostly muted. If you just concentrate on the beauty of the landscape it was a wonderful trip! Anthony was the young fella that was the server on the train and he was terrific & knowledgeable about the area.

The Fall Foliage Trip to Old Forge was absolutely amazing! We were in a car with table seating, they were white tablecloths and flowers on the tables. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly and funny. We were serenaded by one of the conductors who played guitar. We were able to walk around, get extra snacks if we wanted at the dining car, the bathrooms were conveniently locatedAnd we had ample time in old Forge to do some shopping and have lunch. I highly recommend the Adirondack railroad, we will do this again many times, and it was a lovely days experience.

We had a good time on the Adirondack Railroad scenic train ride from Utica, NY to Thendara with a three hour stopover in Old Forge, NY. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The train had an open window car so you could take pictures. It wasn't the cleanest, but it worked for unobstructed views without a window reflection.

Nice ride. We left late due to some sort of inspection needed by the state. They could have done it sooner!

Took a 1 hour ride. Lots of trees and rocks and bushes and rocks and trees and bushes. It’s ok.

So much fun riding the train through the Adirondacks from utica to old forge. Snacks and drinks at an additional cost are well worth it. Staff so friendly and sweet. I've loved it every time.

Great ride from Utica to Thendara Station and back. Comfortable coach car and the dining car served a variety of sandwiches, snacks, soft and legal beverages, and coffee.
Will definitely ride again!

Great trip! Hard to believe these are all volunteers! They do a great job of making you comfortable and keeping you informed all along the way. They truly love their job! A huge shout out to our conductor who did an amazing job on the Fall Follage October 13th trip!

Had a girls day trip had a wonderful time riding the Adirondack train very pleasant staff headed to Old forge thank you Adirondack train for a great day and the prices $$

It was a great reason for a train ride. My wife had never been on a train. It was very enjoyable. The only thing I would have done differently is to take the all day trip where you are getting to spend a few hours in old forge

The train was 35 minutes late taking off & we were asked to move to accommodate handicapped people who came late, which we had no problem moving. However, we had to move to another car & it was musty & moldy smelling. My friend’s asthma kicked in from the horrible smell. The bathrooms did not have running water. At the food cafe we ordered nachos & they were so stale, we ended up throwing them out. We got to Thendara & we could not get off train because of so many people on the train. We were supposed to be back by 3: 30 & we never got back to Utica until 5pm! It was a terrible day that we experienced! Ann Marie Ellis
