Against the Grain Barber Shop reviews
21This barber shop is the best I've been to on this island since I cut my hair a year ago. All the staff wear thier smocks, they greet you, comfortable for women and children and they have a working bathroom! I waited for Di'she (second chair) simply because he got to me first, offered me his card while I wait so I could see his work. He was very sweet and professional and made sure I got exactly what I wanted. He was respectfull the entire time as was all the staff there. I never once felt uncomfortable and I am VERY PEASED!
What an awesome team here, made me feel welcome and appreciated. Genuinely friendly people and did a great job with my hair. I left feeling great and highly recommend anyone to come in for a haircut. If you're into cricket don't forget to mention it - they've got a West Indies fan on the team!
Don’t go here if you care about your time. I had to come on three different occasions for haircut appointments that were sent. Twice, the two different barbers I had for each time were no show. I waited an hour the first time and 30 minutes the second time. The third and last time, the barber made me wait half an hour after our appointment time for the cut because he let in two other people before me. Wasting a client’s time like this on the regular is wildly unprofessional and disrespectful.
Tbh I needed a quick cut so I settle to have just about anyone cut my hair but my hairline got messed up and he didn’t give what I asked. Other dude that cuts my hair is always high anytime he gives a cut so I just give up on this barber shop. I paid 30 when i could have just paid 30 for my trip to the Bronx for a cut and transportation. Overcharging for what?
These barbers are trash bro. None of them know how to cut hair.never go to a barbershop on Staten Island. I had to go to Brooklyn to get a good barber to fix my haircut. Worst barbershop ever.
Manny and Swan are the best 2 barbers in this shop and I recommend going to one of them if you can
Fair prices, nice atmosphere, clean set up, and dope barbers. They have a men's spa that I look forward trying next time. Most def I would recommend, especially for the brothers.
They are amazing only place ill take my son for a cut he use not like getting his hair cut at all till we came here now he loves it thank you
Always drunks loud inside playing games talking loud uncomfortable for woman same drunk playing inside is the same drunk outside harassing panhandling for liquor and woman won’t bring children
There very friendly and they make you feel comfortable. They take excellent care of my grandson every 2 weeks. Redeye is his barber and if he's not there shi steps up and gets the job done. Thank you men for the great service. Gonzo n Nana
Clean, courteous staff. My barber Red did a good job. Good enough to make me a repeat client.
First time here for a tape-up, after a rough year I let the hair just grow. Dy'shę was super cool and professional and really was attentive to the style I was looking for.
I sent my husband out to get a haircut. He tried a couple in our area. A few neighbors recommended that he went to Against the Grain on Victory boulevard. Why did my husband come back with no sides, hairline messed up, most of the hair in the back is cut off, theres one line of side burn on one side of his face nd the other side dont have any. Mustache and everything messed up. And had the audacity to give my husband a card. Highly not recommended. And the barber to do all that mess is Dy'she. Like seriously please go back to skool.
A visit to Against The Grain is a tonsorial pleasure. Brother Daniel is excellent and has a very deft set of hands. A must visit!
If you looking for the freshest possible cut this is the spot to go to. Every barber in here has skills. You can't miss going here. It's a Staten Island landmark.
The barbers there are excellent it can get very busy so do make an appointment before hand to ensure reasonable wait time
My go to barbershop. Barbers are all talented and the atmosphere is chill and welcoming. Walk-ins welcome, although I am a big fan of scheduling appointments in advance. My personal barber/friend is Saled. Going to him for a couple of years now. Courteous and professional and a seasoned barber!
Love taking my son hair all the barbers are so talented and very professional. They not only cut hair but they help out the community and I'm couldn't be happier and proud of these young men and women. Swan has cut my son hair twice and I never heard my son complaint about his cut with him. Good jobs fellas I'm so proud of all your achievements and goals.
I don’t know her name but she gave my son the best fade and I will definitely be bringing him back to get more haircuts.
Michael is AMAZING! Young Latino Man, but can cut black hair better than I've ever had! Go see Michael! He's my barber!
