Agora Taverna reviews
20 We didn’t have much time and were hoping we don’t regret going in.we didn’t!
The service was excellent, quick, friendly, accommodating. Very clean place. The food came out quickly and was very delicious, I didn’t like the potatoes because they seem to be cooked with grape leaves but that’s just a personal preference. The coffee was good and you can ask for it to be light or heavy. Overall a lovely place, would definitely go back again.
Hands down the best and most generous portion of grilled octopus I ever had. Owner Peter treated us like his best friends. I rarely post a review but the experience at this taverna was special. Every dish was amazing. Even though I live over an hour away I can’t wait to go back.
If you want authentic Greek food, go to Agora Taverna. Every dish I’ve ordered, the food was fresh, flavorful, and down right delicious. Every time I and my significant other dine at the restaurant, the owner Peter stops by our table and talk to us. Sometimes, he would give us a meal suggestion. Any time we are in Queens, we go to Agora Taverna for Greek food. Agora’s food and service never disappoints.
Thanksgiving dinner was awful. Turkey and stuffing was served cold. Soup wasn't hot and very watery. Cranberry sauce was basically cranberry water with an acid taste. The pumpkin pie was one and a half spoonfuls. They automatically add in a twenty percent tip. We were a party of six and everyone was disappointed.
Nice location, atmosphere is ok, staff are really nice, but food is expensive and not a good quality. My shrimp pasta was salty and overpriced for $29. My husbands beef and lamb kebab was very average for $26. A better kebab is $16-$18 couple of doors down at Oba. Vegetables were very good though.
Thank you restaurant owner Peter for giving opportunity for your costumers to enjoy such delicious food such as fresh salads, amazing fish and other huge celebration while accompanied with best waitresses and free dessert to your regular customers that make me feel very special. I visited Agora Resraurant on the first of January this year. Felt a positive atmosphere that makes you feel relaxed and happy. Recommend to anyone who likes clean, fresh well graded restaurants that worth every dollar spend A+
I always love this place when I come. The saganaki is always incredible and our server, Chloe, was so attentive and great! Will definitely be back.
Went thought it was Greek food something like it. Greek salad was like really not appetizing then after like 15 brings out the other appetizer spinach pie looked like reheated frozen. I had the meat special skirt steak and chicken breast and Greek sausage lol they were ok at best not really seasoned wife had fried fish it was a joke. Very overpriced very want Greek food go to Astoria this place not Greek. The service was ok they gave me a piece of pastry so that’s 3 stars. Will not go back.
Wonderful restaurant with excellent home-style quality food. The owner is also such a lovely and friendly guy, we really look forward to having family dinners here.
Agora's food was fresh and wonderfully prepared and in addition the service was impeccable and ambiance was enjoyable. We had a vegetarian who enjoyed all the veggie dishes, their seafood and meats were delicious and the wait staff were so nice and patient. All the dishes were big and everything they gave was a generous helping, nicely executed, and there was so much space to sit either inside or out. You will enjoy this lovely place and all the Greek food they offer including the desserts!
Love this restaurant! Been here many times. Food is always delicious! Especially grilled octopus Cocktails are also very nice!
Just ok. We were served old stale bread. Good calamari. The Bronzino was Market Price ($38.00) and seemed to be unevenly salty tasting. Server was polite and friendly. I thought it was overpriced for what it was. Probably won’t be back.
Food was very delicious and wait staff were friendly and patient. I had the skirt steak, calamari and a margarita. Food came out quickly. I'll return to try other dishes.
We placed a semi-large order (7 people) through the app. The order came more than an hour late. The food was absolutely disgusting. I've never had a more disgusting and distasteful greek salad in my life: the tomatoes were old, the salad had more onions than any other vegetable and the tray was ruptured so the dressing had leaked into the bag. I will never order from this place again. My Greek salad through the app (with tip) cost $22. I don't mind paying the $22 if it was tasty and fresh but it was the WORST OF THE WORST!
My colleagues ordered sandwiches and the chicken salad they all had a similar experience: DISTASTEFUL, small portions and they did not bring us the sides we ordered.
Came here around 8pm on a tuesday night for my birthday dinner. Greek salad was cut into big chunks like it was not a salad at all. Seafood pasta has so much sauce, it was almost like drenched into sauce like a soup. Mousaka was soggy and not fresh. It has veggies on the side which was broccoli and it tasted like a heated frozen broccoli! Which is super soggy! It just feels like the food was not cooked fresh. The serving is big tho but taste is terrible and price is expensive. My bf and I had a bad a experience and told our server. They were nice to offer and reduce our bill, but we will never go back again. We had better Greek food just didn’t expect that it was gonna be this bad given that it was located in Forest Hill.
Fresh + neatly prepared dishes. The Margarita wasn't too great. Our waitress alright. She forgot to place one of the two dinner orders. But I really liked the ambience and the fresh fish/shrimp entrees.
Great restaurant! Excellent service and delicious food! Cocktails were good! I love their spinach pie and calamari a lot! Everything came out really good! Highly recommend.
The French fries were soggy and not freshly made.the bread was not fresh and very dry. The fish what a thick coat of fried crisp and only a thin piece of fish inside.
The best octopus in NY!
I love everything in here, The food and the staff.
The owner is so polite, kind and generous.
I love this place
Amazing restaurant! The food is beyond compare. Easily the best restaurant in Forest Hills. The octopus is so fresh and delicious. Honestly everything we ordered was great. We had company from out of town and this was the place we needed them to try. The service was impeccable and the ambiance was great. The owner is a nice man who clearly takes pride in his restaurant. Definitely coming back here.
