Alteri's Italian American Market reviews
9They have terrific bread & homemade croutons! Picked up some big chocolate chip cookies too!
I am from Watertown originally and now live in Allentown, PA. I LOVE Alteri's sausage rolls. I wish I could give a better review, but what just happened has left me beyond frustrated.
I called on Monday before Thanksgiving to order and pick-up 3 sausage rolls. I was told they were "at capacity " and couldn't take anymore orders for the week. I asked about Friday; no. What about Saturday? I was told that should be doable. They open at 10am. I gave my name, phone number, confirmed 3 rolls and that they open at 10am.
After leaving my mother's house, which is a half an hour away, I had the inclination to call to make sure the rolls were ready. I was told they wouldn't be ready until 1pm. What? ! I asked why didn't anyone bother to tell me this when I called on Monday and why didn't anyone call me to tell me? ! The girl said in the confusion, my phone number wasn't written down. Really? And then they were so busy and backed up, the rolls won't be ready until 1pm. OK, so give me someone else's order and tell THEM you made a mistake because I called on Monday to order. Ma'am, no mistake was made. Really? ! You just told me my number wasn't written down (but the girl on Monday DID ask and I assume write it) and now saying no mistake, so it sounds like back peddling to me. Forget it; I no longer want the order. My daughter is visiting for the holiday, leaves today to go back to Penn State, she leaves at 1pm and I'm a half an hour away right now. So no, 1pm doesn't work.
The girl proceeds to say "Haveaniceday" (yes, all one word) and hangs up. Not sorry for the confusion. Not sorry your number wasn't written down. Not offering ANY type of redemption. Nothing. Poor, poor customer service. This isn't the first time the service hasn't been great but, I loved the rolls so much I overlooked it. I may never go back.
Awsome sandwich plenty for your $ I had good old Italian mix meat. I had plenty worth the stop
AMAZING breads, pastries and wonderful people. They were able to get me a pork belly so I could make porchetta! It was beautiful and delicious! Thank you wonderpeople!
I am 100% Italian and a foodie. I do not get what the big deal is about this place.
Items are not PRICE marked! NOTHING IS.
The temp where the bread is stored is super hot and it is in plastic bags sweating. Do you love mushy bread and the cherry on top are the prices once you found out.
I went to try the gelato and after Paying $10 for a PINT! I was so so disappointed. My stracciatella was basically ice.
Never again, I will gladly drive to Kingston to support MIO gelato. They know gelato.
After reading the story behind the gelato I understand. You do not learn to
Make gelato in 5 days.
This is what I get to try to support local businesses: disappointment and wasted money and time.
I LOVE this bread! The staff is great! If had a complaint it would be it sells out too fast! I'd ramp up production. I have eaten Alteri's Italian bread as long as I can remember. I teethed on it! I got two loaves early this week. Perfect! I got another two today. My Wife once brought me a plate once with Alteri Bread and Croghan Bologna. "Are the kids O. K? " They're fine. "Where's the car? " The car is fine! She wanted a pool and got it.
Excellent Italian bread and baked goods! Pizza is very good, and oh yeah sausage is to die for!
I love this place. Great Italian food, bread and meats. Reminds me of the Salumeria’s of NYC. Just wish they had a little bit more inventory.
I decided to go in today to get two subs.
I have to say they were the absolute worst subs we've ever had.
The rolls were hard and chewy. There was very little meat, the cheese was so thin I was not sure it was there, I like lite mayo, but with out asking it was nearly nonexistant. The subs had no shakers oil or grated cheese as asked.
Over all a very disappointing visit.
The young girl assisting put gloves on pulled her hair back with them on and continued to restock the sub bar.
