If I could give this company NO STARS I would! Do not EVER get insurance with them. My father passed away this year in May and he had a life insurance policy with them. He named my sister and I as beneficiaries. We sent our paperwork in a timely manner and it took MONTHS for me to get my check. I had to call them so many times (15-20 times) all times being promised to receive a call back from them and not ONCE did I ever receive a call back from them! My sister sent her paperwork in AUGUST they lost it the first time. We had to contact them multiple times to then find out that they lost her paperwork. She then sent it a second time EXPRESS via USPS which she is an employee of! They had to sign for it and they did! An employee signed for it on November 27th and she STILL HAS NOT received her check and it is DECEMBER 19th! They will always say they will take your name and number and a supervisor will call you back. NO ONE WILL CALL YOU BACK. Horrible company I have NEVER dealt with a company with such horrible customer service. As if my father passing away suddenly at 61 wasn’t enough! This company should be ashamed.

This company deserves zero stars. It’s truly amazing how a medical management company can dictate patient care with complete and utter disregard for the DOCTOR’s advisement and recommendation and with zero compassion for the patient themselves. I’ve had authorizations take a lengthy amount of time to get approved whereas with any other insurance provider it’s been approved in 1-2 days. My recent appointment for a spinal epidural was cancelled because my follow up doctor appointment was 3 days shy of Amalgamated’s preferred 2 week window from my last epidural injection. The appointment however was scheduled 2 weeks from the previous one but they wont issue authorization. Am I mysteriously going to be out of pain because I waited an extra 3 days to see my doctor for a follow up? No, because I have a chronic condition that is now being controlled and care dictated by Amalgamated NOT my physician who actually went to medical school and should be the driver of my care. This businesses practices are suspect and should be looked into from a legal perspective. I’ve been waiting for over 45 minutes on hold to speak with a representative. This company could care less about helping ANYONE. It’s disgusting that I’m at their mercy and my doctor can treat me as he prescribes. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

UPDATE! After this review I got a phone call the same day.a Lady named IVA apologized and promised to look into my claim right away, which she did.
Hazil called me and send my an email.she found what the issue was and fixed it for me.she even stayed in her office till she received a copy of the check. I got it today.so these 2 ladies gave me excellent service, and I am grateful.it seems this company has soo many different departments and sometimes things just get stuck and they don't follow up.so again, thanks hazel and iva.so five stars for these 2 ladies and 3 for the rest of them

am so very disappointed.my husband passed away and I sent all the paperwork a month ago.when I try to call for an update for the claim for his life insurance, they give me the run arounds and every person gives me a new phone number…I tried to email twice, they won’t even bother to answer.it is sad enough if you have a loss like this and now they let me down. I mean, look at all the reviews? You would think they put some pride

WORST COMPANY ESPECIALLY THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

WORST COMPANY:
I had my first baby in December 2022 and I applied for periodic PFL that took few months to get approved. I had to go through hell to get the money that’s approved by NYS PFL law. Instead of enjoying my time with my child and family this company made me feel so depressed, anxious, frustrated, and mad before getting my money. To the point that I couldn’t even sleep due to anxiety thinking of calling and following up with them the following day. My baby is 10 months old now, I’m almost out of PFL time but until now I’m still having issues with my pay, time, etc. This would probably make it a little bit better if they have a good customer service representatives BUT THEY DON’T! THEY CAUSED ME SO MUCH EMOTIONAL TRAUMA.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!
First of all DEIDRE is their worst customer service representative. Since the beginning she already made me upset because of the way she talked to me, scream at me and doesn’t listen. When she heard me getting upset, she finally listened and that’s when she understood what I was trying to explain to her. Every time I call and speak to her she will say or ask for random things. She doesn’t know what she’s talking about. I’ll give it a time and call back the same day so I can speak with another rep and they won’t have any idea on why Deidre is asking me to submit another birth certificate that was already submitted, received and in my file 7months ago. I was having issue on my pay and she’ll ask for birth certificate. When I call other reps, they will see notes and request from previous calls. But her, she won’t even take time to look and review before she say anything to the customer. She’s very lazy. I give lots of credit to Paul and Robert who’s very professional, tries to do their job and their best to help you solve your issues. They’ll follow up and call you back to update you.

I have worked with Amalgamated Life and independently represented their products in the employer group marketplace for many years. They are an "A" rated (Excellent) company that has proven to be a great partner to work with. Policyholders are treated with excellent service and claims get paid. I hold them in high regard and will continue to represent and recommend their products for years to come.

This is the absolute worst insurance company anyone could use. My company dropped them this year because all they do is deny deny and deny claims. It takes 15 days to even get them to review the paperwork & then again all the do is prolong it by wanting more info or just flat out refuse to approve it. This place has more one star review than any other insurance company and now I know why. Beverly the supervisor does nothing to help & the director won’t answer your call no matter what happens. Absolutely don’t use this company because if you call the advocacy line like it says they don’t even know what advocacy is. This whole company is a flat out joke. Lawyers will be involved

This company sucks! For any employers looking for a retirement fund company - DO NOT choose them! They deserve no stars what so ever. They give the run around. The fact that my mother has been waiting a full year for her money, money that’s owed to her! You would think it’s their money that they are giving for free. And the phone representative are disgusting. There was one rep named Cassidy, who we spoke to 9/1 @ approximately 10: 32a on a recorded line too by the way, which means they don’t check calls enough for her to be so boldly rude and unprofessional. She refused to give any additional details or help in any matter. Truly disappointing that these companies treat their customers this way. Been waiting for a call from corporate for 5 days! At this point we are considering getting an employee rights lawyer involved to assist. It’s insane

I contacted the company to check on my status of my claim SEVERAL times and pretty much got told it was pending and good bye. But then an employee named Robers helped me by checking several times to find out what the problem was and corrected it. My kudos goes out to him for staying on the phone with me the whole time till it was all corrected. Only giving 3 stars because of the other employees who didn’t have the time to help me with my situation

Its been months since I sent in documentation for my sons disability. Everytime I call someone tells me they are submitting my forms to the claim department but that should have been done already when I called two weeks ago! The workers don’t do their jobs unless you harass them & it still takes months to get an approval or denial. Sinking in bills because this company lacks compassion, if it takes 10-15 business day’s every time I call to process my claim will I ever receive my check!

I purchased Amalgamated term life insurance through my employer. I have never been able to retain a copy of my policy even online. I have called 200 times and no one ever answers. They take my money and provide nothing. DO NOT BUY INSURANCE from them. I have to wait for open enrollment to cancel and will be urging my employer to drop them as an option for insurance! I will file a complaint in PA since they took my money

This company had a lucrative contract with my husband's employer. Once this was terminated, Amalgamated sent mis-leading letters to the employees to convince them to continue coverage. Once discovered and cancelled, they continue to draft our account for premiums. We've left numerous messages and no calls are returned. All these thieves want is to take your money.

Worst company by far. Two of my children had surgery within the same month while I was out of work for almost 2 months. I'm back to work and still no pay. They try their best to deny your claim rather than approve it. They tell you what THEY want on YOUR doctor forms that's already been completed. Then tells me the doctor is wrong. Shame on a company like this. Sad all the way around. And to date, still no pay since may 1st.

Amalgamated is a terrible company. I have worked for this company 30 years. I recently moved and gave them my new address updated all of the necessary information and they still refuse to give me my check. To everyone that they have treated unfair we need to stand together concerning their very poor management

This was the absolute WORST job that I ever worked at in my adult life. If you’re planning on applying here, DON’T. Run far away from Amalgamated. Management is HORRIBLE. It feels like school. No better yet, it feels like a Military Boot Camp. Management loves to play favorites. You will CONSTANTLY be micro-managed. You will constantly have to do work for other departments, despite it not being in your job description. Horrible training. And worst of all, the pay, just find another third party administrator to work for. Don’t waste your time trying to work at a place like this because management does not care about you. Or you’ll be forced to work with people like Carmelo Hernandez, who is a manager that everyone hates but the company won’t get rid of. The pension department is literally losing employees because of him. As I said already, RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE

What an absolute joke of a company. My son lost his father a year ago and we have been waiting for answers pertaining to his life insurance payout due to my son. It’s been MONTHS of trying to get ANYONE with any sort of knowledge on the phone. All I get is a someone who tells me they will send an email to a representative and that I’ll be getting a call “within 24-48 hours”. Laughable. Nobody calls back, they don’t care, it’s been months on end. I suspect this is either a fraudulent business or a shell company at this point because apparently nobody with any sort of BASIC knowledge even works there. Anyone else having this problem (and from what I understand there are many), I urge you to contact BBB, a lawyer, and the IRS.

Crazy to think but they have no problems taken their monthly payments but never follow through with their payments when you need it half payments quarter payments no communications you might get a letter at the end of month. Telling me the same things It’s under review. Once I sent it in and it sat on someone’s desk for 13 days when I called yeah it was sent on on the 13th so today’s the 14th and it sat on someone’s desk for 13 days.
If I wasn’t invested I would go with someone else. Instead of getting the. $1000.00 I go a big $166.00 check this may have worked in the 1930’s but come on really. If someone tries to talks you into this tell them to kick rocks
