Amali NYC reviews
16Amali serves up a truly epic dining experience. The spreads are all standout so I’m so happy my tablemates and I decided to get them all. The octopus was cooked to perfection and the salmon tartare with caviar was so flavorful. For the main course we had the branzino for two and it was unreal. Ended with the chocolate mousse which was the perfect last bite. Highly recommend and also be share to have your server guide you to a fabulous Greek wine. We fell in love with the one we had from Santorini!
A fantastic fancy lunch. Everything was delicious and the service was first-class. I will be back!
Maybe the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. Everything single thing was so flavorful, it was insane.
The food was great. The service was awesome. I was there for New Year's Eve. I only ask for vegetarian options.however I did not ask about the vegan options. The hummus was great.
We had a wonderful dinner at Amali. The food was delicious and the staff was welcoming and attentive. We can’t wait to visit again.
My friend and I had a fabulous dinner at Amali! The food, staff, and atmosphere were all fantasic. I’m still dreaming about the pasta with truffle and the ribeye for two.
Simply wonderful. The food was all exceptionally delicious- oysters, tuna tartare, halibut, filet and lobster pasta topped off with chocolate mousse with cherries. The service is nothing short of outstanding and the place just has a great, energetic and fun vibe. Can’t wait to go back.
Delicious food, friendly service, cozy ambiance. Solid spot if you're looking for Mediterranean and a chill vibe.
I'm pretty critical when it comes to food, but when I eat at Amali in New York I always know I will be happy! Tonight I ordered the spice-grilled chicken and I think it was the absolute best chicken I've had in my life (and I eat it and cook it a lot!) The flavors were amazing, and it was perfectly cooked. I also enjoyed the gluten free appetizers - the olives and charcuterie were excellent, the fall squash hummus with the gluten free bread were super delish. I had a side of roasted broccoli which was crispy and flavorful. All the desserts were light, sweet, and beautiful, and we left feeling delighted. It's great to be able to eat out and enjoy one's meal thoroughly while still eating healthy. I eat at Amali for all of my favorite celebrations!
This restaurant is openly breaking the law meant to protect customers and stop false advertising. MasterCard and visa allow you to chargeback the bill in these situations and I recommend everyone to do so
Apon receiving the bill I was shocked at an 18% admin fee. The server pointed out where it was on the menu and their website. Once I got home to look on the website I discovered that:
1. This fee is illegal in the state of NYC (NYC section 518)
2.found and an ny1 article from 2021 where the owner admitted the practice is a crime but wont stop due to "everything the city put us through"
Not having such fees is actually the first item on the restaurant inspection checklist. I wonder if the blatant disregard carries over to food safety laws as well.
They try to justify this fee by saying this helps them pay a living wage to their employees but this is false as I know many other restaurants with fair pay that don't use it to push an outlawed practice. They even make references to the European system but have obviously never been there as surcharges are banned in most European countries. The menu price is the exact price customers pay including tax.
The only advantage of an surcharge is to falsely advertise prices 18% lower and gain an advantage over law abiding restaurants
The duck was excellent! Inquire about a gluten free menu if you are celiac. The model they operate on does not require tip! The waiters are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and the food came out so quickly. Will definitely be back!
Helmed by the talented Executive Chef Alex Tubero, Amali in Midtown East is a sustainable Mediterranean restaurant with changing seasonal menu. Here are some of the top items to order from its autumn menu.
GEM LETTUCES
Simple yet delicious, the Gem Lettuces salad includes slices of radish, fennel, and mint leaves tossed in creamy sesame vinaigrette.
TUNA CARPACCIO
Thinly sliced tuna sashimi is topped with dollop of avocado mousse, meyer lemon, and chive with a generous drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.
AUTUMN SQUASH AND BRUSSELS
The ultimate fall dish, the Autumn Squash and Brussels includes roasted delicata squash and butternut squash with Brussels sprouts, pistachio, pomegranate, feta, and burnt honey.

TORTELLI
If you love squash, this dish is perfect for you. The Tortelli is filled with sweet and savory kabocha squash and cheese, and paired with chunks of lobster meat with Matsutake mushroom in a rich, creamy sauce.
LINGUINE
The homemade linguine pasta is paired with razor and little neck clam in rich, buttery white wine sauce and topped with crunchy breadcrumbs.
FILET MIGNON
Cooked perfectly to your liking, the tender Filet Mignon is accompanied by roasted Maitake mushrooms, cippolini, and creamy bloomsdale spinach.
Extremely disappointed. The food was great in the past and we had a completely different expensive today. Food was horrible too acidic, and too salty. Not worth the price we paid
The 18% admin fee they charged our party is illegal. Surcharges and auto gratuity are banned in NYC except for parties of 8 or more.
James the manager for Calissa group is extremely rude and should definitely know how to speak to his customers. I really wanted to come here but his tone and treatment make me never want to dine here.
All around excellent. I have planned and attended several events here - a special place with unique private dining room options, warm and elegant atmosphere, and superb attention to detail. Perfect for a business or purely social meal and conversation. Delicious food. Importantly, this restaurant has long been a front runner on paying their staff a fair living wage — long before others started paying attention to the issue during the pandemic lockdown. I respect and appreciate a restaurant with that sort of integrity.
